This is going to be one of the greatest superhero cast ever now to add Dustin Hoffman as Perry White.
He was awesome in House. Great choice.
What worries me is the idea of two big actors doing generals, shouldn't one be enough? Which leads me to the question, could Meloni be used for Metallo (blergh) with a different origin?
From, what I heard they were suppose to use Birthright now Metallo sounds like Superman: Secret Origin.
They could use elements from both of those stories.
It would be better if Lane is the one who believes in Superman, that way you're not blatantly ripping off The Hulk. Afterall, what would be different about recycling plot points from Hulk, right?
Sam Lane is definitely a villain. He hated all the Kryptonians, more so than Lex even.
Sam Lane wasn't always a villain.
The character wasn't originally a General nor was he a villain, so I see no reason to follow post crisis Lane to the letter, especially when he is a carbon copy of Ross.
He was a down and out back then, that's boring
Besides, I liked the bad relationship he had with Lois. Even implying he would kill her!
Here's my prediction!
Meloni is General Lane, who is anti-Superman, in typical Marvel General Ross fashion.
But the General played by Lennix, is the government guy who secretly believes in the Man of Steel and cuts him a break whenever he can. Lennix is the good general.
I think at one point, Superman will be captured by General Lane and the military, and Lennix's character will free him somehow.
Just wild speculation here,
but you all have to admit, the military presence in this movie is very significant, with two generals (not counting Zod), and one (Meloni's) being a major character in the film.
We're getting an The Incredible Hulk type plot here, with Zod thrown in for good measure.
Sounds interesting!
how is a carbon copy of ross when sam lane was created 4 years before thunderbolt lol
General Ross first appeared in 1962 and General Sam Lane was introduced in the 80's, so what are you talking about?
There was a pre-crisis version of Sam Lane that was a horse farmer, who did in fact appear before Thunderbolt. But technically if you did look the character it would seem as if he debuted before.
how is it unrealistic for a general to have hatred towards an alien possibly invading earthGood god, if they have General Sam Lane as Lois's military father who hates Superman I'm going to be pissed to no end. It's not realistic. It's cliche. It's stupid.
That's not unrealistic. What's unrealistic is that the general is the alien's love interest's father. It's forced. It just screams stupid comic book cliche.how is it unrealistic for a general to have hatred towards an alien possibly invading earth![]()
