The Dark Knight Harvey Dent/Two Face Thread

I don't think he killed the girl cop, just slapped her a good one in the face. And the coin was good side up for Gordon, not Batsy.

I think someone else mentioned this earlier on, but I also thought I saw Dent still breathing when he's laying there on the ground. Of course we can't expect Aaron Eckhart to hold his breath indefinitely, and it may have just been a trick of light or wishful thinking on my part, but who knows?

I truly think the whole thing was a cover-up to preserve his image. After all, there may have been witnesses who saw him "out and about" and might put two and two together if Gordon and company brought him back out in the public eye. Besides, the guy's come unhinged - they can't just give him his job back. Putting him secretly in Arkham makes sense, and gives continuity in the storyline between this film and the third (if there is one), something we unfortunately won't have the Joker to do. :csad:

How could they have covered it up? The SWAT team was closing in so Batman went on the run. He didn't have time to help Gordon move the body. So Gordon moves the body by himself? Where to? The perimeter was surrounded.

I wanted Two-Face to live too, but put aside your passion for the character and look at this from a storytelling perspective. Does it make more sense for THIS story, not thinking about the possibility of a sequel, to have Harvey live or die? I think the answer is obvious.

When the Joker said "WE'RE DESTINED TO DO THIS!" to Batman, I got sad because of the fact that Heath's gone. But I do think that Two-Face should be brought back into the franchise. Afterall, what other way can Batman's name be cleared? Think about it for a sec, they're not going to give him a break as there were people who started disliking him because of the whole Joker business, so I'm pretty sure bringing Two-Face back is the only way to truly clear his name.

I just want to say that the f/x they used for Two-Face were exceptional. Harvey actually really stole the movie for me. I knew the Joker was gonna be great, but I had no idea Two-Face was gonna be like that. I just wish they would've held off for part 3, Two-Face needs a whole movie to himself....

Aaron was PHENOMENAL as Harvey Dent/Two Face .

Agreed!

Does anyone know whats with the supposed two-face toy? The pic they had of it looked like it was completely off.

That's exactly what I said happened, but Gordon's statement implies that she's dead.

ARGH! DAMMIT!
when i watched the movie last thursday (which is Wednesday in the US) there was NO WATCHMEN teaser/trailer!
I thought it was just a minor error coz I watched it in the first screening in the morning & maybe there was just a first-hour-of-work screw-up

i watched the movie AGAIN just minutes ago...
and what do i find?
still no Watchmen teaser!

im sorry, this is the wrong place to talk about it, i know, but i just had to blow up my angst somewhere...
anyway... carry on...

As for Two Face in a third film, I think The Dark Knight could have been split into two films easily, ending with a cliff hanger on Dent earlier in the film, and they could have done the now common trilogy two films at once thing and all.

However, this film works so damned well as a sequel, that it stands on its own, and there really is no need for a third film. Of course there WILL be a third, but this film was done very much as if it were just a sequel, and there was not unnecessarily going to be a third.

I was under the impression that Batman was held responsible for Dent's death. Wasn't that the whole point? That he takes the fall for Dent's killings and Dent himself?

No, all the people Batman took the "credit" for killing can be perceived as vigilante killings. That is they were all "bad" people, and that still fits within the publics' perceived notion of him. That is, having him kill innocent people would not stand up as a cover up story for the public. Here, is exact;y why they cannot have him "kill" Dent as part of the cover up, as they still want Dent to be perceived as good.

I think they left people thinking Dent died in the hospital blast and that Batman killed Dent's victim's for whatever reason

Yeah, that would make sense. My mistake.

Harvey as written in TDK was absolutely perfect - so heartbreaking to see such a good man fall.

Doc, I agree with you 100 percent. Although I'm wondering if Harvey was confirmed dead at the end of the film. With all his body had gone through, the fall may have killed him, but no one specifically stated so. They could have moved him somewhere to heal and he may escape to be featured in the next film.

TwoFace was alive guys................ YOU SEE HIM BREATHING??????????????????

Gordon and Batman don't want the public to see Harvey become a villian, a good man like Harvey Dent should not ruin his rep among the public, which is why Batman took the blame and TwoFace is in Arkum.

or it could be that Aaron can't hold his breath forever...i can't tell you how many times i"ve seen a "corpse" breathe in a movie

i agree with everybody who thinks two face is alive

i hope he comes back in the third

two face was sooooooooooooooo cool in this movie.

I'm not saying I wouldn't want Two-Face alive as long as its not in a cheesey way....it just seems unlikley to me right now....but I also want to wait and see what info comes out when they start talking 3rd movie..

I believe that we shouldn't ask "Is Two-Face coming back?" or "Is Dent really dead?" The real question we should ask Nolan and/or ourselves is:

Was Two-Face ever intended to be the main villain in the third film?:brucebat:
