The color pallet reminds me of the Fleischer Cartoons, which I adore and belove. Those cartoons remain untouchable in every sense of the word so to have Man of Steel remind me of those animation films instantly makes a strong connection.

Do you own this release of the Fleishcer cartoons, Tra? This is the official release by WB, and it has the best picture and audio transfer of all the multitudes of releases. I highly recommend picking this up.

..while Clark didn't spend a chunk of time in Metropolis saving people outside of Lois, but at least in the Smallville battle we saw him telling people to get to safety, as well as helping a few.

Right on. Still love the Smallville battle scene in Man of Steel. It's possibly one of my favorite battles of all-time. "Get inside. It's not safe.." and "Are you okay?" were so SUPERMAN moments. Subtle, but those things stick out to me as a fan. More-so than the overboard "speech's" that people are obsessed with. Though, it will be nice to see Cavill's Superman speak more of his mind. The ongoing story of the DCEU should allow him to do so.

I believe this version came out around '09 or so. The slip-cover was based off the recent statue. Absolutely love it. I'm going to buy more release's and versions of the Fleischer films whenever I get a chance to, that's for sure.

You don't need to know a person that well to give them an I believe in you and we can do this boost if you're the goddamn Superman and have already saved the world twice over.

Oh man, that's brilliant! Do you have your collection posted anywhere so that I may check it out? I know your Superman shrine is incredible. I've currently got 11 Superman action figures MIB, but no statues. I need to step it up!

Had the worst dream last night. I was watching a new JL trailer and Supes was in it a heap...but it was him with the red unnies on....scared the crap outta me.

I had a dream where BvS got 27% on RT

I can't explain it but I REALLY love Supes' "Fleischer" look based on his first appearances and the 40's cartoon.I like it better than the "classic" look that would soon follow it.

At least he didn't smile, wave and say hello to the screen. That's pure nightmare fuel.

Well I guess I can count myself lucky to have had a dream where MoS, BvS, and WW are very good and SS was okay with all signs pointing to JL being good as well.

Great display! Man, those bring back some memories. I would watch them over and over when I was like 5 years old. Probably haven't watched them in 23 or so years, but it's one of those things that is seared into my memory. The mad scientist guy controlling the big walking robot, Clark going into the phone and coming out Superman, etc. Being that age is a magical time if you're into superheroes. In pre-school and Kindergarten, I would be wearing like a sweatsuit, and I would duck off into the bathroom and come out in my Superman outfit, cape and all

If I recall correctly, they were kinda propaganda-ish as well lol. But that was definitely the times

Oh yea! I'm picking up what you're putting down for sure. My all-time favorite moment of Superman is when he's punching that beam in "The Mad Scientist". The colors, the sounds, the atmosphere and setting still give me chills and brings me back. My story is similar to yours at that age. My mother would go to the dollar store up the road and re-buy multiple VHS tapes in the $2 bin because I would wear out the film where they'd dis-color and static. Every Super-kid should first be introduced to the Fleischer films!

Fleischer Superman is amazing. I remember watching Sky Captain at the cinema years back just sat there thinking how much more awesome it would be if it were a live-action Fleischer Superman movie.

Had a similar one. Supergirl was in the movie, but was wearing pants.

That's a nice collection. I'm personally in the process in selling off my display cases. I just finally sold off my animated collection of toys and statues. Next goes my Kingdom Come collection and comics and action figures and statues from the regular comics (expect my Superman: Earth One stuff). Then movie figures and statues and props and DC collectables. The only thing I am thinking of keeping is my Man of Steel and Superman v Batman: Dawn of Justice Hot Toys figures and statues and my Shane Davis Superman: Earth One statue. I just figured it was time :(.

Yeah, I've thought about how it would be awesome to have a series, like on HBO, that goes back and forth between Metropolis and Gotham, and has a lot of hardboiled Detective noir mystery, with Batman being the detective and Clark and Lois being the investigative reporters. Like, every season revolves around a big mystery, like Twin Peaks, The Killing, True Detective Season 1. But, the show is very stylistic, taking place in its own timeline, similar to the 20's-50's they could even reuse a lot of costumes from Boardwalk Empire. With a Sky Captain, graphic novel vibe, based heavily in the look and feel of Fleischer Superman and Batman The Animated Series

But I know what you mean. Surely, every single Fleisher fan who saw Sky Captain, thought about how cool it would be if it were the Superman cartoons. Even if you just go watch the imagery from the trailer, with the flying mechanical men, and the men with their tommy guns.

We both had some good moms. My mom just allowed me to be fully into it, wear my outfits everywhere I went, because I wanted to lol. And would tape just about everything that came on TV, from cartoons to the live action Flash show, 70's Spider-Man, Supergirl, live action Swamp Thing, George Reeves, Superboy, etc. etc. LOT of good memories of those times. I would have died and gone to heaven to be able to see all the movies that exist now, back then

This legit made me shed tears, my friend. You selling on eBay? I'm always looking for more figures to add to my Superman collection!

Love that idea

Most probably, it was a fun movie and deserved better as it was. If that had been a Fleischer Superman film it would have been even more awesome.
