I think the McQuarrie stuff is damn real. That's 2 interview's now from both Cavill and McQuarrie explaining the desire to work together and how story and who you work with is key. Both seem to have each other in their best interest and have already talked ideas. Henry is really pushing for this and I believe it's picking up steam.

I just hope they formulate a new "master plan" like Snyder had. If they aren't just going to use his, straight up. The way it feels right now is that they're just going to do a bunch of disconnected things and none of it will coalesce in any way. I don't want it to feel like a lot of disconnected, disjointed pieces that don't amount to anything. That's the impression I'm getting now that Snyder isn't there. That they're just going to do disconnected cool stuff like Supes fighting Black Adam and it won't end up being part of a bigger picture.

Just because Snyder is gone doesn't mean the whole concept of the "sandbox" theory isn't in play. I think the interconnectivity is still going to be approached the same way, it's just going to exist in the hero's respective universe's I think and just be acknowledged. Films like WW2 and AQUAMAN are still canon but if it's going to take more years to get another JL film, fleshing out each hero's (or villain's) universe is the ticket for now. Build on good stories and everything will follow. DC still has a stable of good directors on board. Hopefully they land guys like Vaughn or McQuarrie next to keep that momentum going. Who knows when we'll hear anything from DC. Infinity War is going to take the headlines anyway for awhile.

I'd be happy for a Final Crisis/Kingdom Come-level event for the DC heroes onscreen, a story which comes naturally and organically off the stories in the solo movies, a story that progresses naturally. That is about the end of a chapter (which IW seems to understand.) When the heroes are older, wearier...

I don't believe it's a simple as Henry asking him but I do believe McQuarrie is genuinely open to it partially because of his comfort level with Cavill. McQuarrie is not a complete stranger to writing comic book movies. He did some writing on the first X-Men movie as well as the Wolverine. He ironically had a working relationship with Bryan Singer.

Cavill is smart to play the aggressor. For MOS 2 to happen he's going to have to set up meetings, bring in directors and an overall pitch to the producers and executives. That's his best chance at a greenlight.

After watching IW (and what's about to come in IW 2), I thought Zack must have planned some mechanism to set things right after JL2 (that is, if original JL 2 plan was to have dystopian future with Superman gone evil in one of the alternate future reality.)

Concepts dealing with multiple realities, maybe that what Flashpoint going to reset, that would have reset Superman's death too. (and Clark Kent would have never died in first place)

Interestingly, this (Flashpoint movie) doesn't change Wonder Woman's movie a bit, same with Aquaman's solo movie

I'd like to see Black Adam be so powerful that captain marvel ( he will always be CM to me ) needs help.
Its Not that CM isn't just as strong, but he is new and sorely inexperienced.
Superman helps and kinda takes him under his wing till he can cope on his own.

True, and that would be a nice character moment for Superman being that in Man of Steel, HE was the inexperienced hero thrown to the wolves so it would be a nice parallel for Kal to come full circle and be the mentor to a young hero in need of adjusting to a new life.

It could be a fun duo/trio. For some reason I'm picturing a scene where Shazam is hitting and flirting with Lois ala Samson in All-Star Superman where Clark would get jealous (Billy's the new handsome kid on the block) and step in. Fun stuff like that needs to be takin' advantage of without being too corny. Seeing those personality traits would be nice to a change.

- Initially Wonder Woman had release date as 23rd June 2017 (later WB moved it to 15 May 2017), Paramount had set the same date for Transformers The Last Knight (23 rd June 2017)


- Now Paramount is releasing Transformer's spinoff Bumblebee on the exact same date as Aquaman.

So, they have been playing this game for some time now.

I think they even share the same writer for bumblebee and birds of prey

Exactly what I said in the other thread. This was the best of both worlds, this is how its done in the comics, and this is the way to treat DC characters on screen. BUT dont do this and expect things to go the MCU way right from the off, because its different.

Vaughan hates the 'studio' system (particularly when it comes too CBM's) so I'm thinking it would have been a tough shoot all round, if he'd have gotten the gig.

With Henry's recent comments about having ideas for the MOS sequel and setting up meetings with the bigwigs, I am in two minds about it. What this tells us is that it doesn't look like there has been much movement on MOS2 at all, and Henry has been having to fight for it, do it himself i.e. find a director, talk ideas with a director (McQuarrie) and try to set up meetings with WB. That is good news in a way, that this could at least start some movement on MOS2.

But I had thought that WB was already actively working on a MOS sequel, in early stages at least, and already talking to directors and at the shortlist stage i.e talking to Vaugh, Bayona etc.

I guess I thought that because of reports coming from Vaughn, Mark Millar etc. as well as rumours. Though things could have changed with the the hiring of Hamada and the changes made at WB after JL.

I really hope that the McQuarrie comments are about something real, and not just press/promotion talk.

But yeah this approach really worked for me. I loved the Harry Potter model because it actually had narrative momentum and a through-line. I consider it a waste to have an entire cinematic universe and all these characters and moving parts that only coalesce when the team up movies happen. Where was Tony when the freaking president was held captive? Where was everyone when Hydra threatened to kill millions? Everyone except Widow was on sick leave apparently

But yes it was fascinating to see a multi-picture story unfold, one that was pre-planned and could therefore have plot threads interweaving and coming together in a satisfying way. Getting rid of that to favor stories that don't interweave or form a larger picture would kill my interest in the DCEU, which is currently on life support.

The funny thing is, even with Marvel's way, it took several movies to pick up steam. Nobody thought the first Iron Man would result in what we're getting today. But WB wanted that instant gratification. They had a solid plan, but they kept scrapping it because it didn't result in a billion dollars in their FIRST and SECOND movie . And now they're paying for that mistake.

That all should have happened first before JL was even thought about.

But If BvS just had to be made then it should have been a WF film instead.
Joker, Lex, and metallo could have been the villains with just a very minor conflict between superman and Batman at the first, a turf thing if you will.

Doomsday was way to soon, and was a joke in the way he looked and the way they used him.
I've grown tired of the ten foot tall villains.

My first introduction to the Justice League was a comic I picked in in the library when I was a bairn. I knew Superman and Batman, and had a vague knowledge of Wonder Woman, but I'd never heard of The Flash, Aquaman, Green Lantern or Martian Manhunter.
The book didn't go into their backstories or give their origins, it never explained how they formed the League. And I didn't care.
It was a good story so I enjoyed it despite not having any foreknowledge of most of the characters.
Kids don't care, the general audience don't care, often if you just give them a world they'll go along with it provided it's a good story.
Look at The Incredibles, it's massively popular and viewed by many as a great superhero film, but we don't get any origins or explanations. It just says "there's a world with lots of superheroes, and the audience said "ok"

If it's done well, you can go straight to a JL film with no solos.
