BvS Henry Cavill IS Superman - Part 1

More workout related pictures of Cavill have surfaced from the extra features. Cavill put 8 months into it and it shows. He really gave it his all.

I know some people have suggested that he got too bulky, but this...this was about perfect for me. If he'd gone much more, yeah he would have been too bulky, but all these photos make me do is feel sorry for myself that I don't have a Henry Cavill so I can lick my way down that fine, fine torso. Yum.

But I've observed that men bodybuild to impress other men, just as woman get stick-thin to impress other women. Neither is about impressing the opposite sex. :oldrazz:
While you I and most other guys do that Anita18 does have a point, most guys are impressed with the work I've done on my body, most women I come across just say 'you are getting too muscley' lol
I guess in a way it is true. Though most men, like me, workout for themselves, men are more impressed with it. When I start getting good results or start getting bigger, my male friends notice it first and encourage me, my female friends notice it later or when it is pointed out to them. When I say reach a new personal best in the gym with some weights, I will tell my my male friends, because they would be impressed, my female friends would probably think it silly to discuss such things.

^I love the way he kisses too

(It's more about the fact matt's face is beautiful/perfect)

Actually, I also love :hrt: Justin Hartley, Hugh Dancy, Orlando Bloom, Keanu Reeves...etc
And these guys don't look like "gorilla" when they work out.
And no, I'm not talking about his hairs :woot: but his shape. (big arms, big chest. Too much)
(you see, it's like Sangoku and Super Saiyan Sangoku... I can't believe I'm explaining that to you....)
*go watch DBZ*

But Henry's level in MOS was the same as an athlete. (I think)
I won't say it was his natural shape. I prefer Henry when he's "normal" (let's say, in IMMORTALS, he was PERFECT (greek god), nice in the tudors but not enough muscular)

Oh, I like Tom Welling's shape too! :hrt:
I guess women would prefer Cavill's look in Immortals because it is perhaps more "prettyboy" like, more slim, sleek physique with defined abs and the entire torso shaved clean. MOS look might be too threatening or intimidating for them. But I think is the proper look for Superman than a "pretty" look.

But honestly it probably makes a lot sense to include one in the next movie, just for marketing purposes. It's what will get the headlines, isn't it... plus a lot of the butts on the theatre seats!
The fitness thing was a HUGE marketing hook for MOS. They promoted it heavily through the Soldier of Steel tie-up but also countless interviews and articles covering just the fitness aspect of the film. Mark Twight even said that they had to be completely clean gear wise because that would collapse the fitness marketing hook.

So they might promote the fitness angle again with Batman Vs Superman.

Also it doesn't look like there's any padding at all in his bicep there.
From what I heard, there wasn't. That's why he worked out so hard, they wanted him to fill out the suit, not have the suit filled out despite him. I mean, he worked out a LOT.
No, there was padding. That is simply the nature of superhero costumes. They are tight, restrictive fabrics that make you look smaller than you actually are and flatten out muscle definition, so a muscle suit/padding is necessary for the actor's hard work to actually show through. It's been mentioned before by people involved in the production that there was a "muscle suit" based on a cast of Cavill's actual body between the outer layer of the suit and the inner layer which is against the skin.
Any padding there is simply for fabric related purposes. You can see the bicep flexing when Cavill bends his arm. That wouldn't happen with fake muscle.

The Superman Returns suit was notorious because it compressed muscle and made Routh look even smaller than he was. MOS suit is actually designed to show as much of Cavill's real physique as they can. The suit basically fits him like a glove, Cavill has claimed that the suit is very tight and fairly thin as well. If you see shirtless pictures of him and pictures of him in the suit, it more or less looks the same. So the padding if any, is extremely minimal and might only be present to contour the fabric in a certain way that it naturally wouldn't.

Another example is Crowe. He looks vaguely flabby in his suit because the suit is again hugging his body and showing what is beneath the suit. Same way with Cavill, he's buff so the suit is showing that.

Cavill's body required a lot of work to the point that most guys who'd try to emulate that would have to near live in the gym and I could see how that could turn off a number of women. I work out mainly for fitness and to appear relatively in shape, I've never had the time or motivation to take up serious bodybuilding which is what cavill was engaged in for at least 6 months.
It would be a dream and an honor to look like Cavill in MOS. But frankly, there simply isn't time. I am so busy during the working day, that proper sleep is far fetched let alone dedicated hours to workouts. What workouts I manage to sneak in my week are simply because of my desire for it otherwise its not even possible.

The other thing is the diet, you need a proper diet for great results to happen. Another area where working people are screwed, my eating habits because of the work schedule are so erratic that proper timed meals with properly rationed proportions and accurately measured fats and carbs and proteins are again absurd and not possible.

I am a Consultant and my job is to serve the client. Cavill is an actor so his job is to look great. So I guess it is a job thing.

But the luxary of time, to workout for upto 8 hours in the gym as Cavill happily claimed in interviews is beyond the thought of a normal man in a high stress corporate job.

You're right, it definitely is the right look for Superman. And re which look women prefer, I'm not sure 'most' prefer Immortals...all my female friends love Henry and about 75% prefer him huge and hairy rather than leaner and smooth - including me! It's the younger ones who seem to prefer the immortals look as well!

Thanks for those pics you posted - even though I've seen MOS several times and know how huge he was, sometimes it still strikes me and in those photos he's enormous!!! He is clearly working hard to get back into that shape now - these are pics from him working out this evening!!!

These are from about 40 mins ago, he's looking really good - as always!

:hrt:

If you allow Welling to be included in that then he is the most drooled over actor to play Superman. Girls were crazy over welling in the early Seasons of Smallville.

Respectfully disagree with this! I've always loved Superman and so loved Smallville and Tom Welling, but really don't think his popularity with women can compare to Henry's, even at the start of Smallville. Henry TRANSCENDS Superman to the point that all my friends (honestly, ALL my girlfriends!) would say Henry is their dream guy and swoon over him - and half of them have never even seen MOS. It wasn't the same for Tom, at least not here in the UK.

I swear every interview Henry ever does they go on and on about his looks, and though Tom is really hot too (and I've fancied him for YEARS :oldrazz:) in terms of aesthetics, you can't compare. Henry is like the most beautiful man to exist in the world, and that's something so many men will admit too, and that was never the case with Tom Welling either.

Just my thoughts on the matter as a red blooded woman :yay:

Cavill looks so much like Reeve when he strains it's scary

So yeah, I don't believe we saw a Reeve CGI cameo.

slumcat, can I just say how much I appreciate your thoughts on fitness and the physiques of actors playing superheroes? Clearly you're a guy who knows his stuff.

Well depends in which angle did you see it.. IMO in 3 seconds CGI Reeve was there but just my opinion

It's because of the angle the shot in question was filmed as well as the fact that Reeve and Cavill have similar skull morphological characteristics that the two look so much alike there; that's all.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say seeing them in real life I think Henry and Amy actually have more chemistry as Henry and Amy than as Clark and Lois! Which is sad in my opinion.

They seem to have a genuine spark in real life, similar to comic book Clark and Lois, which they just didn't have in the movie.

maybe nostalgia won my logical thinking :woot:

I find it funny how a lot of people go out of their way to pay for personal trainers to help them with their workouts but actors like cavil actually get paid to work out.

I can only imagine how dedicated to working out I'd be if there were money incentives? Likewise I've just started a new job and I've been pretty exhausted after work so I'm finding it hard to hit the gym much.
