Am I the only person who doesn't care about the curl?
Yeah I have to admit it was the best shot so far of supesThis is arguably the best view of Superman in the whole film. Even the abs (on the suit) look a little better here.
I don't give a crap, he looks great in the movie and did a great job. Heck atleast they dyed his hair.
As for him being broody, I think he was more introverted and closed off not brooding. He was looking for something, found it, was happy for a moment before the Krazy Kryptonians showed up.

well done! perhaps to some of them, Clark Kent is a sunshine and he shouldn't have any troubles dealing with all his superpowers... u know... just like ... "cool, i got x-ray vision, mom"Really? So he was brooding when he was telling Ma Kent how he found out about his family? And at the end when Lois welcomed him to the planet? And when he was telling her to "move back a little bit" and "it's not an S?" And he sure was broody when he told the general he was here to help, but they won't find out where he hangs his cape. Also when he smiled at the waitress in the bar...so much doom and gloom. And the gloomiest moment of all....when he was smiling like a madman as he flew and that whole "Kal is my name" thing we Jor-el. No joy there at all. And that look on his face when the fisherman pushed him out of the way and "saved" him on the boat. And that scene where he heals Lois's wound after that robot attacks her...so much moping....And it's not like his lack of friends is related to the fact that he travels around and saves people and stuff. How awful.
IMO the job of journalist were explained that was cause to keep saving the world without being discovered.. and I saw a great decision from Snyder and Goyer to not doing the same as Superman:Birthright and giving Clark "realistic" jobs to know how is being human, the humble ones instead of the great ones as He can do with ease.. I loved that.. The reporter will come next we saw him at the endAnyone else think it would have been good for Clark to travel around as a free lance reporter or blogger rather than just doing odd jobs?
t:The opposite of brooding is not smiley. There is also the normal regular people, neither brooding, nor smiley, just being themselves.I kind of think that a modern GR style Superman would be panned now. THEY PUT SUPERMAN IN A GRITTY CRIME DRAMA WHERE HE ENJOYS BEATING UP CRIMINALS!!!! WAAA!t:

But yeah, the argument that MOS's Superman is an angry, brooding character I think is one of the weaker complaints. I personally believe the people who think that Superman should be smiley all the time would look down on ANY more serious approaches to the character, including those in STAS and the comics.
Now what I think is a legit complaint is that Clark is placed in circumstances where it was difficult to be happy. The world in danger-it would be WRONG for Superman to be all cheerful. Clark friendless and alone-that doesn't seem optimized for happiness.
The military threatening him and the world mistrusting him-not optimized for happiness, though this allows him to respond with authority and assertiveness-and some genuine cheer.
The sequel should give him more time with other characters in a non-tense manner. The character bits with Ma Kent/Lois/Swanwick are good. I hope we see more of that.
I hope the sequel isn't as serious as MOS. It doesn't have to be jokey like a lot of Marvel's films (though I wouldn't mind a bit of that). It just has to have a bit of fun behind it.
I saw a brave superman and he continuisly show us how optimistic is him no matter the doubts he has at the beginning.. He stood proud in front of the human raceThe opposite of brooding is not smiley. There is also the normal regular people, neither brooding, nor smiley, just being themselves.
The moping aspect is best a halllmark of the Twilight films where the leads sit and mope around the entire day and look brooding and depressed.
Superman shouldn't look like that! Superman should look like a normal fella getting on with his life.

Not always need to keep talking and talking to show if a movie is great, there are gesticulations, presence and some things that makes us know that the character was not a parrot, it was Clark finding out his place in the world, childhood probs, with doubts, making him more relatable in the movie, not that he was born being a perfect guy.. he spoke the enough.. you know many cmb with a lot of dialogue didn't make the movie better!!His lack of dialogue was disappointing. They made enough for a sequel though, and bringing in Batman will only fill more seats. Hopefully they do more than just make him look the part, I want him to sound the part this time around.

Like Szetsilya said earlier, sure, Clark comes off a bit quiet and introverted to an extent in the film, but that isn't the same thing as brooding. The fact that the guy is constantly on the move, always helping people when he can, and ultimately trying to find his niche in the world strongly belies the notion that he's someone prone to petulance/sulking. Clark, in MOS, is indeed the direct opposite of the type who sits around and mopes all day for whatever reason. Sure, there are moments where he seems a little down and thus takes some time to reflect on whatever it is that's bugging him, but that's to be expected given the life he's been forced to lead as well as his status as the ultimate foreigner of sorts. It can't be too surprising that a real-life alien would come to feel alienated at some point.
