No even I got the feeling that Clark was slightly depressed or atleast muted and very withdrawn within himself.
Am I the only person who doesn't care about the curl?
No. I´m with you...Am I the only person who doesn't care about the curl?
Really? So he was brooding when he was telling Ma Kent how he found out about his family? And at the end when Lois welcomed him to the planet? And when he was telling her to "move back a little bit" and "it's not an S?" And he sure was broody when he told the general he was here to help, but they won't find out where he hangs his cape. Also when he smiled at the waitress in the bar...so much doom and gloom. And the gloomiest moment of all....when he was smiling like a madman as he flew and that whole "Kal is my name" thing we Jor-el. No joy there at all. And that look on his face when the fisherman pushed him out of the way and "saved" him on the boat. And that scene where he heals Lois's wound after that robot attacks her...so much moping....And it's not like his lack of friends is related to the fact that he travels around and saves people and stuff. How awful.
You're talking about tone of the movie, not the personality of clark. You said clark was always brooding and moping and that is not true. And what does Batman have to do with this? And the fact that he smiling and wasn't brooding/moping does change everything because you said he was, which is false. The movie showed a clark who went through hard times, but he was still able to smile and be happy when the situation called for. You're confusing a serious, heavy tone in the movie with clark's personality.
which movie did you see man? broody in those moments? give me a break.. when he was flying I've seen joy, when he smiled to the waitress, with martha and finally the welcome to the planet smile was so great I've seen happiness on him.. He was confused in some moments how not be? he didn't knwo where he came from, those powers, being bullyied and not can't do anything, and even Superman chose the humans and always gives hope and smiles when the moment required them... so your point is![]()
I think you quoted the wrong person.Am I the only person who doesn't care about the curl?
Thats a lot of hard times then because he never seemed happy, you have stated instances in the film where he smiled but that doesn't give the overall impression that this guy is a happy guy. It's ridiculous for you to even try and insinuate that based on instances where he smiled or attempted humour. And I included Batman to highlight how flawed your example was because there is a brooding character in light hearted moments but yet still broody. Also I see you didn't refute the loner aspect because there is no refuting it. You can say that circumstances didn't allow for us to see a happy Clark and you would be right but that's the situation Goyer and Snyder out him in.

So sorry man I didn't notice, we're cool thenEither you quoted the wrong person or you misunderstood me. I was being sarcastic in that post (which was sorta rude, so sorry about that Houseofel). I was using those examples to show the many situations in which he was doing something other than brooding. We actually agree on this subject.
t:So sorry, I fixed the postI think you quoted the wrong person.
t:completely agree with youWhat are these times he never seemed happy? During battle? When people died? Should he not be sad during these? You seem to have no reason to think what you think. I think maybe some people label him as a brooder because he's not a cheesy guy winking at the camera a saving cats. People aren't used to him being taken seriously at all.
And I agree he's a loner. However, I don't get the impression that he's a loner by choice. Whenever he got the chance to interact with anyone, he was friendly (or flirty, in Lois's case). I think he spent most of his life being excluded and having to hide many aspects of himself. So he was alone because he had to be. But as soon as someone accepted him, he was willing to interact with them.
t:New photos from Italy from UNCLE shoot!
Every ****ing photo Cavill takes has a spit curl. EXCEPT, EXCEPT the movie where he plays Superman. EVERY. EXCEPT.

Haha, it is funny. I don't mind him not having a spit curl in the movie, but it is ironic that he does seem to have a natural one ALL THE TIME in real life - because seriously, who the hell has a spit curl in 2013??
I do actually. It can't be helped.

Wading in on the brooding debate, I never thought he seemed especially brooding in the movie. More serious and reflective than other versions for sure, but he smiled plenty around people he liked and there were enough glimpses of that and his relaxed, friendly personality throughout to stop him seeming like another Batman type. I think maybe it seems more like that if you're comparing it to the Reeves boy scout Superman. Cos let's face it, ANYONE would seem brooding in comparison to that...
Although thinking about it, I think all the times Superman was smiley/happy/flirty/relaxed in MoS were when he was in the company of women?? Man, how prejudiced of him...![]()
