I don't think Lois's role in defeating the Kryptonians makes Supes less intelligent. Jor-el gave Lois some critical information, so naturally, she's the one to communicate it to others.

Even Superman did not use it. He was away fighting that giant arm thing in the Indian ocean. The military used that idea. So basically the idea was the king in his case. And Lois came up with it!

No. It's never been implied that Lois is less intelligent than Superman. Except when it came to never figuring out that Superman is Clark Kent. That's why that whole scenario is just stupid, and I'm glad they dispensed with it.

Besides, a good leader knows when to listen to other people's ideas, and also knows how to utilize all the members of the team in order to get the best result possible.

It's nice, because by surrounding himself with human allies that he treated as equals, it reinforced the idea of Clark's humanity.

Generally speaking, I never thought that Superman was vastly more intelligent than Lois. I can see why one would, but I never did.

But it also shows his intelligence, since it's hard for the mind to process all that text. He's also the first person to understand that Lex is evil, he also figures out some neat tricks. One time he he has to be in two places at the same time, and he uses a mirror to split his heat vision into two.

In smallville season 2, I think in the red kryptonite episode, we saw that he didn't need to spend time on his math homework. In the first episode of smallville, we saw him reading a book by Nietzsche.

His intelligence does come off in some of the DCAU features, in particular in All-Star Superman.

In MoS, I think that 9 year old Clark was reading Plato's Republic, which is mostly (entirely?) dialogues with Socrates. It would have been more meaningful if themes from that book had come up in the movie, or if Clark had lifted a quote by Plato to argue against Zod's vision.

Exactly. I love the super-intelligence (if you will). That's probably my favourite version. But there's plenty of room for other interpretations that work really well, such as what DA_Champion described above.

I think they do these things simply as a form on name-dropping. In 'On The Road', they showed Kristen Stewart reading Proust for chrissakes!

lol. These be funny! You can make a collage out of these! And Cavill does make some strange facial expressions, the Immortals is full of those. Though in that one, he is mostly just screaming his guts out. Even in interviews he raises one eyebrow a lot of the times which I find totally cheesy. That also kinda makes him perfect for Bond by way of Roger Moore! t:

I noticed the facial expressions, too, but they actually added weight to his interpretation. Cavill is an intense dude. He takes **** serious, even like someone said, in interviews as well. He's a collected individual. His role was to play a very conflicted character, so his duty was to perform such facial expressions.

You missed one, though. The face he made to Lois before he took off to fight the World Engine was funny. Right before he says "..but it wouldn't stop me from trying.." He looks down at the ground while saying it and does a funny face there. Cracked me up. But in all seriousness, I love what Cavill adds. He's perfect for the role and stepped right out of a comic book. Look is key.

Now, we'll get to see him smile more.

I think I remember the one you're talking about. It was a furrow of the brow, almost looking bewildered and annoyed that Lois basically said he might die.

Anyway, the thing I'm taking away from those screencaps is... Those are great screencaps. They're never usually that clear, for this movie. Any others, from cool moments in the film, Verisimilitude?
