I'm definitely on board with him being immortal or close to it. I don't know how it would get touched in the movies. Maybe a flash forward to Legion of Super-Heroes era, perhaps.

I know him being immortal is generally accepted as true in the comics, but I don't want to see that and hope the movie doesn't address it. If you want to think he's immortal fine, but I really don't think there needs to be an explanation of any sort about his longevity. Obviously Kryptonians can die on earth and they can be killed. I think that's all that really matters.

Not immortal but lives a very long life and ages slowly would be my preference.

Never liked the idea that Superman was immortal. For a character who's commonly viewed as too powerful and/or godlike, that is just a step too far IMO. It puts Clark on a completely different plane from the rest of humanity in a way that even all his powers don't, because even with all those powers, Superman still has to deal with the reality of death (commonly illustrated via Jonathan Kent).

Having Kal-El be immortal would make him more "god" than "man." For me, if there's one thing all the best interpretations of Superman have had in common, it's that despite all his powers, Clark is fundamentally one of us. That is, he has the mentality of a human being, he identifies primarily with Earth, etc. I'm fine with Thor being immortal or near to it (since he is so much more directly compared to a god), but my Superman I prefer closer to humanity, other than the powers.

Let me put all my cards on the table though: Kingdom Come is one of my all-time favourite Superman stories and I prefer to imagine a universe where Clark does grow old (maybe at a slightly slower rate than humans like Bruce Wayne) and we can see how a more mature and world-weary Superman deals with things.

Well considering they seem to be making this cinematic universe more episodic than standalone, any sufficiently powerful enemy could perhaps show/send Superman to a distant future (didn't Matthew Vaughan's Superman magnum opus trilogy have a part of the story dedicated to the end of the solar system?) in order to raise questions about his relationship with Lois. I'd also prefer if it were impossible for him to conceive children with Lois.

A lot of science fiction (Star Trek being the most notable offender) completely ignores the fact that - by definition - it is impossible for members of two separate species to produce fertile offspring.

Star Trek is welcome to. I don't want Superman to.

I prefer the adoption route anyway for Supes.

I believe it's it in one of the Blu ray/ DVD but the question of "if Clark can have a kid in this version?" is answered. Basically yes he can. I've not gone that far yet in the DVD so could someone answer that please as I'm not sure i've just heard that rumours?

I don't want him to, either. I admit this is mostly because of Superman Returns trauma, lol.

This x 5,000,000

I know this notion scares some, but I do want him and Lois to have offspring. I don't need to see a kid...in fact I would prefer not too because that only reminds of me Superman Family. I just want the notion that he can reproduce with a human addressed. I also think for the films him being able to reproduce would be part of the reason Jor sent him to Earth in the first place. Jor believes they are compatible.

I think that's a good idea, for a FINAL Superman/DC film.

I watched the features pretty extensively and I didn't hear that. Someone on the board said Synder was asked if Supes was a virgin and he said no. That's all I have heard about the sexuality of Superman.

LOL! I wonder who asked that question. No, it wasn't me. :oldrazz:

I see no reason for Supes not to have children with Lois. There are too many other space traveling movies that have this idea of interapecies off spring for Superman to be one of te few who doesn't. The kids don't have to appear in movies though, they for more into TV shows that last forever. As for his aging and mortally vs immortality, it shouldn't even be addressed, let the audience think what they want about it.

Henry was nominated for a Critics Choice Award in the "Best Actor in an Action Movie" category. Regardless of whether he ends up winning, it's good to see that he got the nod. I like RDJ's and Brad Pitt's performances (haven't seen Wahlberg's yet) but I think Henry edged them both out. (If we were putting Henry up against RDJ for the first Iron Man, I'd give it to RDJ, but I found him a little less convincing than usual in IM3).

Robert is probably going to win. Im3 was the movie of the year despite a lot of people having "WTF" feelings about it.

It was?

Don't get me wrong, I liked it, it made a lot of money and it got good reviews, but I haven't heard anyone refer to it as the "movie of the year" before.

Iron Man 3 movie of the year? you haven't seen many movies this year then. unless you mean comic book movie of the year and even then it's not the best.

I mean financially not on substance. It was the billion dollar movie of 2013.
I personally have no plans to see it, I loved IM, didn't like IM2, won't bother with IM3 unless it's on tv and I have nothing else to watch.
I just know a lot of people love RDJ and he will probably win; either way I'm just happy someone is acknowledging Henry in this role.

Ah, I see. Well, just my opinion, IM3 was pretty good, but then I was one of the few people who also liked IM2.

Regardless, you're probably right that RDJ or maybe Brad Pitt will get the award, but no matter. It's good to see Henry get some recognition for the role. MOS had a few minor problems but Henry was fantastic. He's the first person I've seen really embody Superman on screen since Reeve.

Agreed.

I always kind of liked the idea that Superman does age, but at a much slower rate than normal humans. For example, when he shows up in the Batman Beyond TV show, he's clearly aged since his time in JL/JLU. However, he doesn't look like he's aged nearly as much as Bruce has and Superman is still the powerhouse of the Beyond-verse JL.

I actually enjoyed Iron Man 2 because of how much I liked Mickey Rourke's character. Iron Man 3 put me over the edge with "suit-hopping." It was just too far from the reality/physics established in the first two movies.

I can see Pitt winning because he took what would normally be a Q1 zombie flick into a summer blockbuster on his star-power alone.
