Yeah, I can see that. But Christopher Reeve didn't share any scenes with Glenn Ford and that turned out alright.

Very true, although I would say there was way more focus on Clark and Jonathan in MOS than there was in STM.

People really don't want to reckon with the load Jonathon Kent had and how it was put on Clark's shoulders the day he died. This is grand, mythological drama that when taken seriously makes you realize how far reaching the impact of the mere existence of Superman would have, not even taking into account his actions but just his presence on Earth. Now add in his power, people's reactions to it, the question of what Clark can or should do with his power and influence, how humanity as a whole and individuals can or should or would act... Jon Kent had a near infinite amount of needles to thread that had a range from "How do I raise a child to adulthood who can never be physically harmed to be a good person when he can't understand human physical pain?" to "When Clark finally reveals himself, are the ramifications of that on his head, or on the heads of human beings reacting to him?"

Eloquently put. This is another example of the film being judged by interpretation rather than execution. There are some elements of TDKT's interpretation that aren't my preference, but I can still appreciate the films for what they are

Lol! Well, like anything else it takes time to build up a skill. He's still learning.

I recently watched the Richard Donner cut of Superman 2 and the diner scene at the end of the movie really makes superman look like an a hole. Mainly because the Donner cut has Superman turning back time to before Zod escapes from the Phantom Zone and Clark getting beaten at the diner never happened.
So this guy was humiliated by a total stranger that he has never met before.

Lol, I never made that connection. The guy is a jerk and let's assume that has it coming karmically, but yeah.

Interesting that something like that in a Donner film doesn't get nitpicked like MoS does. :cwink:

I don't know. Clark using his powers in either movie to put a bully in his place never bothered me.

That guy ended up with a nicer brand new truck and money left over from insurance I assumed :D

People have been complaining about that for years and years, actually. Even in the official/Lester version in which the trucker and everybody else knows exactly what he did to deserve it.

I don't know. Clark using his powers in either movie to put a bully in his place never bothered me.

Same here. I was happy watching both those rednecks get their kumappins.

Henry looks great in this shot as Superman...

If you had shown me this picture of a live action Batman and Superman film when I was like 12 years old... I probably would have kvetched that the suits are too different from the comics (texture of the surface, color palette, no trunks ect.) and that they ruined it, and why can't they just do things exactly as the comics all the time, blah, blah, blah.

Really. I thing that's the kind of fan I was as a kid and, hey, that's the understanding and experience of kid being expressed. Thankfully I gots some seasoning on me now and can appreciate the masterful work and execution of these costumes.

LOL

That's a great shot of the two of them. And even though one of the producers said Batman would "tower over" Superman, it doesn't look like that will be the case. They've looked about the same height in all the footage and promotional materials we've seen.

Batman does look more hulking, but that makes sense since he's wearing layers of body armor.

Yeah! I have thought the same thing. Snyder has said one of the reasons he cast Affleck is that he wanted a Batman that would physically tower over Superman. But in everything I've seen thus far Bats and Supes always look to be about the same height--even though reportedly IRL Affleck is 3 inches taller than Cavill.

At first I figured maybe they manipulated photo stills a bit to not make Batman look dominant in the promotional materials because for that they want to create a sense that the fight could go either way. But even in the live action scenes from the trailers: Batman, although slightly bulkier (and not that much either), actually appears shorter to me!

Yeah, I honestly can't tell the difference in their height in anything I've seen, though I do remember some idiot on here a while back posting shots of the scene of Bruce and Clark at the party and going on about how "obvious" it is that Affleck is taller... ugh. Some people just need to give it up.

Amazing image they both look right off the page

The image itself is not new, though, is it?

It is pretty obvious in that shot at the party from the trailer though.

Didn't Charles Roven say they intentionally wanted this Batman to be taller than Superman? He even said the idea wasn't to have him towering over him, but just a bit taller to communicate his seniority. I mean, if it was a choice then it was a choice. Height is always something that can be played around with in movies for effect. I suspect it won't always be highlighted, but in certain shots like the one in the trailer it seems very intentionally framed that way. Especially with Lex looking so short compared to both of them.

I think Henry has better posture than Ben, which tends to minimize the height difference, which isn't all that huge to begin with.

We can call each other idiots here without facing repercussions? That's nice to know.

If anyone has to compensate, it's Batman so I like that he's slightly bigger. :oldrazz:
