I don't get these wooden or flat complaints, how was he supposed to act in it? It was perfect serious Superman to me. Do people want him to be smiling in that scene aswell? (Joke if course :woot:)

He's very stern and just tells him how it is. People need to remember that he is also putting on a front in public and has to differentiate the two.

I can see how some didn't like it but I enjoyed it. I also like all of what Superman says to Batman. The way it was delivered sounded (to me) almost poetic with an operatic touch that I quite like and find fitting with these characters and the dramatic feel of the movie.

All these reactions remind me of the Nolan days where we had "Nolanites" who praise every frame he directs and Nolan haters who **** on everything. The dichotomy will never go away.

Its gotta be a DC thing/synder ,marvel would get a pass for these pesky complaints but thats for another thread. Henry delivery was perfectly fine like a teacher putting there fellow pupil in place before they get a lil backchat. to me its seems like Superman is seeing Bats as a annoyance, he cant be dealing with his(batmans) vendetta right now. I think this transgends into the second fight aswell(" STAY DOWN.If i wanted it ,you would be dead already") .Back to the tv spot. Superman's line was stern and blunt, I don't see how else he should say that line, i really don't .

Its a big secret. Not the biggest Cavill fan out there.

That said, I think the latest clip was solid for him. I can nit-pick both he and Ben in the clip as some are.

But the trailers and clips so far show me a Cavill who has stepped up his game.

Affleck no way dominates this scene, despite rumors otherwise - can we say El Miyambe.

Cavill is holding his own so far and if that is true for the film as a whole he will be on solid ground going forward as Superman.

Henry deserves to grow into the role. MoS was his first headlining film and Superman is no walk in the park. He was also asked to play a "very close to the vest" in search of himself origin of Clark Kent so he was going to be tight.

Henry held his own in his Clark Kent scene with Affleck's Wayne and he showed some nice poise against a veteran actor. In many ways, Cavill has shown he is vastly comfortable in the Superman character. He's knocking every interview associated with Supes out of the park and it's a great sign for Superman fans that he's highly protective over the character . Cavill is going to be Superman for a long time and he will get better and better . It's already showing after just one film.

I think Henry's doing a great job. He is Superman for me now.

For me Henry is the most Supermanish Superman in all of Superman's film history since Reeves donned the Superman suit.

Agree, and for me it is important that this new Superman is a modern one for our times. I think Cavill is an outstanding choice for who this new Superman is in the process of becoming.

Not only was Henry chosen to represent Superman in the modern age, he is also the first actor to return as Superman on the big screen since Reeve and is the FIRST Superman EVER to share the same screen with Batman AND the first actor EVER to represent Superman as part of the Justice League and the first EVER Superman actor to be apart of a DC shared universe.

I think Cavill is doing well and this Supes fan couldn't be happier. In today's world, Henry is perfect in every sense of the word both on and off the screen. He represents Superman well and will continue to for some time. Great time to be a fan.

I also love the fact that Henry is one of those actors like Chris Hemsworth, Chris Evans and Ezra Miller etc. that want to play their characters for as long as possible.

Love it when comic book actors say that.

Getting actors, especially big timers, to play comic book characters for more than one film is definitely a lot easier than it was back in the day.

You'd have to overcome several hurdles just to convince Keaton and Nicholson to appear in just one film.

^ I think Nicholson was up for coming back, wasn't he? He loved playing the Joker.

Keaton was getting measured for costumes for Batman Forever.....he'd have continued if not for Burton leaving.

you dare not stop your sentence at the history. don't you? :D

and he is the First Clark Kent actually doing the reporting work and has met with Lex Luthor on the big screen.

The only problem I have, is purely physical. I never liked the depiction of Superman having extreme muscle, it's not like he has to hit the gym, but his height always was important to me in relation to other characters. This is why Christopher Reeve was so perfect in my eyes, he was athletic but not super muscular, while still being just a bit taller than everyone else.

Affleck has...a sizable head to be polite. And he's naturally a stockier (and taller) guy, so when standing next to Henry, he's a little bigger than I would prefer my Batman to be in relation to Superman. And ironically, while Henry's Clark stands tall & Ben's Bruce seems to hunch ever so slightly, apparently they wanted a taller Batman for whatever reason. It's just a decision I kind of disagree with but that's just me. Other than that, Henry is the Superman for our time and he's done a great job.

I consider myself a purist (or traditionalist) who can 'accept' changes - but oddly enough, this time I don't just accept Batman being bigger, heavier and taller, I kind of look forward to seeing how it works.

But I also generally prefer my Superman to be the tallest of the regular JL excluding Martian Manhunter.

Regarding musculature; I think it's purely a mental thing to expect one who many consider the 'perfect' superpowerful superhero to have the generally accepted idea of a perfect body (or as close as possible).

Whether he was heavier-set with less 'cut' or as his, I'm extremely happy with how he looks.

Both of them, actually.

Imagine how some would have felt in JL Mortal with Armie Hammer been much bigger than DJ Cotrona :funny:
