I didn't see those comments either. I'll give him the benefit of the doubt. He's an honorable person. Hopefully one of his PR people noticed if he said anything wrong unbeknownst to him and brings things up if things can be viewed as offensive.

^ It was rewritten by the writer of Argo :hmr:

I am excited for this movie and it looks great, but I am tired of people acting like Chris is the Shakespeare of our time. I hope he is a real talent and not a one hit wonder, but Shymalan once had good ideas as well.

As for Henry's comments, I'm guessing he said something that doesn't fit with neo feminist ideals.

He's said nothing worth telling him he needs to shut up over, jfc.

EDIT: wait, what street harassment comment?
He said that he doesn't like it when women hit on him on the street.

Uh... no

If only.

And honestly, If you can't see why everything he just said is wrong and shows how ignorant he is I'm not gonna get into that discussion here because it's gonna be worthless. Someone should call his PR team, he's been on a roll lately.

People still use livejournal? :o

He's been on a roll lately?

Yeah, because God forbid, he do the unthinkable and dare say that actors like the money. :o

"I do think there’s a bit of a double standard, you know," he said. "I mean, if a girl shouts something like ‘Oi, love, fancy a shag?’ to me as I walk past I do sometimes wonder how she’d feel if a builder said that to her. Although, of course, I wouldn’t feel physically threatened, as she might."
A woman would have more reason to feel physically threatened when a stranger says a comment like that to them, so he's not wrong.

On a scale of 1-10 for offensive s*** celebrities can say, that was literally a 2. 3 tops. He even acknowledges that it isn't quite the same for a man at the end.

This is what annoys me so much about the whole "let's root out problematic behavior in our celebrities" thing that social media has such a hard on for. As soon as they stop being cute celebs that you can make gifs and s*** out of, and start showing that they're actual human beings (by making mistakes and misspeaking, for example), it's like "Oh no, I can't love them the same way I used to".

What Henry said is barely really an issue or something offensive, he acknowledges the differences between what it would be for a man or woman as well.

I see nothing wrong with his comment. When I had 40 lbs less fat and maybe 10 lbs more of muscle I'd get catcalls at least once a week and I'm definitely no Cavill.

Is that it? Oh good gawd finding that offensive is finding the truth offensive. It actually shows he's got some insight. It reminds me a little of Michael Fassbinder's comments about what people would say to him about a certain body part.

I don't really find anything offensive about that comment. It's not like he said men getting sexually harassed by women was somehow worse than a woman getting sexually harassed by a man. The only difference is that men are generally more physically imposing, and he even acknowledges that, so what's the issue?

Are men just supposed to accept getting unwanted cat calls, because their men and they're not allowed to feel uncomfortable?

^ YOU'RE A MAN!! YOU CAN'T UNDERSTAND HOW I FEEL EVEN THOUGH I'M EXPERIENCING THE SAME THING AS YOU ARE! -With a threat of physical harm ;)

Not in a long while has such an innocuous reply have me frightened over one's personality and temperament.

I even clicked on the link a second time as I wrote this to make sure I wasn't missing anything. Nope.

Can't believe how big a deal commenters on that site made about it. Especially when grouped with the comments that pretty much implied he should be grateful for hearing anything along the lines. They pretty much proving the double standard he mentioned.

Ugh. That's like saying "she was asking for it, walking around dressed like she does!"

I'm gonna spare myself the aggravation and not click on that link.
