To be fair, we were only given one opportunity to see what Superman's classic suit would look like in a modern, big budget film, and most agree that the execution (and not the design) was botched. In my mind, the briefs have never been given their fair shake, and now they most likely never will be.
Stay down. If I wanted it, youd be dead already. #WhoWillWin #Batman #Superman

Yes. Red Son and Gotham by Gaslight are the best two Elseworlds stories IMO.The ending was brilliant, too.
I like it because of the message it sends, especially the second part of the story, where the world mourns for Superman. When he's not around anymore people realise how much he is needed, and reflect on what he stood for. And the third issue with all the replacements showing up says there is no substitute for the real deal. The first issue is good too, I think, even if it's just a slug fest for the most part. Superman is the only guy in the DC universe who stands a chance at stopping Doomsday, and he never gives up. He dies to save everyone. It's Superman at his most desperate and heroic.I see a couple people have Death of Superman on their favorites list. I've never really had much affection for it. Not that it wasn't well-written, I just find the concept of superman dying too sad to enjoy. It's like imagining the death of Santa Claus, lol.
