BvS Henry Cavill IS Superman - - - - - - - - - - - - Part 26

That pic looks really good, maybe we get something like that in MOS sequel.

Prove me wrong. ;)
*proves you wrong*
There :yay:

Seriously though, the end of MoS shows how bad a disguise it is. If Lois was able to recognize Superman in his Clark Kent disguise, other people should logically be able to do the same.

Ah, but maybe it has to do with the fact that she already knows him, his identity, his powers and history... and then Perry introduces him by name-

Perry: Lombard, Lane. I want you to meet our new stringer and show him the ropes... This is Clark Kent.

Thanks man. That's the Jim Lee style hair I always hoped Henry Cavill's Superman would have.
I really do think they avoided the stylish hairstyle on purpose. Slicking it back to seem less pretentious and more natural. Less of a 'boy scout' and more a man of action.

This is obviously true. However I think the 'secret identity' is something the Superman franchise should just roll with. It's pretty hard to avoid or explain away.

well done! look like a cgi... like a comic drawing...

I don't like the red colors in BvS.

Good stuff.

How do you feel about Superman and the DCU these days herolee?

Pretty much like this...

Some days good. Other days, not so much. Lol

I'm just waiting to see on how he's handled in Justice League. If Snyder can present Superman in that film without causing a lot of controversy then all of the hardships from MOS and BvS would have been worth it.

But still, I'm also concerned about the character's future as well. Namely because I don't think the character is on a lot of people's favorite list nowadays. I've seen more people looking forward or more excited about every other member of the justice league than Superman. Heck, his solo film future is still up in the air.

Reading around, it seems that most people's opinions are sourced around this DCEU's Superman and how he should be. To me (and it may be me reading into it) fans have been speaking the loudest voice in terms of the Superman character being done right and many debates on the interwebs are geared toward that, so I think there still is an expectation and excitement around the Superman character being done right. There are a lot of photoshops starting to go around with people anticipating what Superman will look like and how he will return. Even in the press junkets, the solo Man of Steel sequel has been asked to the right people so people want to see it happen. I think Supes will get it and his arcs in MoS and BvS will pay off. Geoff Johns's first statement when he was officially attached to an executive producer was a Superman comment of him being that hopeful character, so consider me optimistic and an excited Superman fan with his potential role in the DCEU.

Isn't Geoff responsible for how Superman was portrayed and written in the New 52 Canon? Last time I checked, the New 52 take on Superman wasn't exactly well received by a lot of people.

And even though there are a lot of fans (such as myself) who have voiced their concerns over how the character has been handled or portrayed, is that enough to warrant Hollywood Producers and filmmakers to invest in making another solo Superman film? It seems like Snyder has given up on making any more solo films and based on every producers's comments about Superman's solo future, they don't seem to have anything on the table for the character.

Even Henry Cavill, who seems to be Superman's biggest supporter in the DCEU, admits that Superman is a very hard character to tackle correctly.

Plus, Superman was like the only character that critics and general fans didn't really care for in their reviews for BvS...where despite them having so many issues with the film, they at least admitted that they enjoyed Ben and Gal. But no mention of Cavill whatsover.

After seeing the UC extras,it seems like Geoff Johns was very much responsible behind the scenes, and had a say in the characters. He even talked about how great the Martha thing was.Considering Geoff and Zack were the ones who roadmapped the whole DCEU,it wouldnt surprise my if this Superman is asmuch John's as it is Snyder's.They seem to have a clear vision of where they want to take the character, and they are sticking to it.

There is not much I would change in this Superman.Just let Cavill's charisma shine on more(like in MOS) and make him less conflicted about his role in the world(which is a given because of BvS's ending). That for me would be perfect and very similar to the TAS Superman.

If there ever was and is anything wrong with Superman comics, it's Superman's editorial team. If there's anybody responsible for anything, it was Editor Eddie Berganza. Supes needs editorially fresh eyes in the editing room and that's where most comic fans have the problem. John's plays a bigger role in the DCComicsUniverse, but he can't oversee it all and focus's on such characters like Aquaman, Green Lantern and Teen Titans; Justice League.

The New52 Superman had its fair share of fans and haters, but most of those haters came back on the title when Geoff Johns came on to write Superman for his brief time on the recent books. If John's believes in ANYTHING when it comes to Superman's character, it's the classic rendition with the classic elements that comes along with his writing (when Geoff was consistent on the Superman books, he had Gary Frank as his artist, who drew Supes like Reeve. John's also brought REBIRTH to DC, which brought the Pre-Flashpoint Superman back to the main titles, or, in other words, the classic Superman. HMMM.)

When Geoff wrote his arc, fans claimed that was one of the first times in awhile that Superman actually had his 'voice' back. Though it was short lived, fans know that Geoff Johns will give Superman's voice a classic and familiar presence. Hell, he even retconned everything about Clark Kent not being at the Daily Planet in the New52 and brought Clark back there to work in his FIRST issue, all the awhile being best friends with Jimmy Olsen again and having a better relationship with Lois Lane. John's has a clue in how Superman (and his family) should handle themselves and what fans always want to see in the character.

Who knows about all this. We can't say for sure if Snyder is done or wanting to make anymore solo films, but that doesn't mean somebody else isn't willing. Snyder could possibly handle more of the teammup movies if JL is well received and Charles Roven said they are currently in talks with a Superman movie, it's just they need to get to the others first, which is fair. Once JL is finished and Henry signs his second contract, we'll see how things change but there are whispers of people nodding to Man of Steel 2. I think it's inevitable, eventually.

Even Henry Cavill, who seems to be Superman's biggest supporter in the DCEU, admits that Superman is a very hard character to tackle correctly.

Henry is right because Superman is obviously a damned if you do, damned if you don't type character that needs a good sense of balance of what makes him boring, what makes him noble, what makes him godlike, what makes him kind and what makes him relatable all wrapped up in one. If I was a director in Hollywood, I'd be chomping at the bit to get him right because the pay-off will be pretty big. He's Superman. He's still a dream project for many and Henry adores the character. It's not a bad thing that Superman is hard to get right, but judging by the reactions to Superman Returns in comparisons to Man of Steel, even the fanbase is split and plays a part. The key lies somewhere in between those two movies. We can have both a classic Boy Scout Superman and a bad%^& Superman.

Plus, Superman was like the only character that critics and general fans didn't really care for in their reviews for BvS...where despite them having so many issues with the film, they at least admitted that they enjoyed Ben and Gal. But no mention of Cavill whatsover.

This should motivate the team even MORE to get another Superman movie out there. There can't be a bigger motivator than that. Stepping back for a second, no matter how BvS was received, I think Ben's Batman and Gal's Wondy NEEDED to be accepted for the DCEU to continue on. With them two coming out of this well liked and with Superman's fate in the balance, that can only strengthen future projects and the will to bring Superman back right. As a fan, I'm choosing to be optimistic. There's still so many directions this thing can go in.

There is not much I would change in this Superman.Just let Cavill's charisma shine on more(like in MOS) and make him less conflicted about his role in the world(which is a given because of BvS's ending). That for me would be perfect and very similar to the TAS Superman.

BINGO. I agree. Regardless, this DCEU is still in the vision of Zack Snyder and this is the character he created. With Geoff Johns on board with more of a comic influence when it comes to having a bigger say in the creative process, he is a huge fan of the classic elements portrayed in Superman and I bet Geoff will bring that to the DCEU Kal-EL. Isn't that what people want? A more classic rendition ontop of the layer of Snyder's creation? That's basically all that's needed to create the perfect balance and I think John's will push for that.

Nothing hotter than Superman in casual wear. :fhm:

Like I will be able to see that in his current form (Tudors Cavill isn't enough).

Obviously. But that applies to any Superman story.
