I only see a thread with the misguided idea that Tom is wearing the Superman Returns suit.
[sarcasm]ya, because they are going to make a suit from scratch when they have a very expensive suit already at their disposal[/sarcasm]

So did any one check out the ew article/cover about cavill and how his audtions process went. Can't wait to see how cavill looks once filming starts in a few months and he bulks up.

I can see Kevin Costner as Jonathan Kent. He's the same type as John Schneider. :super:

Latino Review is reporting that he's is indeed in the running for Pa Kent. I think he's a good fit.

Looks like we were right in that Kevin Costner is going for Jonathan Kent.:super:

Prefect choice for Pa Kent (Who I hope is kept alive), I wonder who's going to be Martha, Lois, Lex, Perry, and Jimmy ?

I don't know about Costner... he's redeemed himself lately taking some more serious roles, but I'm not sure I'm in love with him as Jonathan.

Totally good fit. I hope he signs on. Also one thing if kents are around, please nolan/snyder don't pull a donner and have pa kent die in film. I would love to see them both live for awhile and interact with clark as adult/superman. Then in a sequel do death or what not. The family dynamic where good things in early sv and the run of lois and clark.

As for perry white I wouldn't mind someone like alec baldwin, jimmy maybe bret harrison(was in reaper and currently seen in v), martha maybe helen merrin/diane lane type of actress. Lex/villains I can't think right now to more details are given.

Gah. I'm SO not a fan of Kevin Costner on principle so I'm not sure how I feel about this.

That said, Nolan's been known to use 80s era stars to great effect in his movies (Rutger Hauer, Eric Roberts, Tom Berenger), so we'll see.

On an unrelated note, I started watching the Tudors. Who knew Callum Blue was in it? It's weird to see the current Zod and the future Superman acting together.

Kevin Costner to me, so far is the only good thing in terms of casting from this movie. On a side note got a funny msgs on FB from an obsessed hater who insanely asked me in repeated emails why I wanted Tom Welling to be Superman as "he doesn't like the suit" (same ol'lame excuse) and (this one is a novelty) "he's afraid of heights" ! LOOOL

it's kind of ridiculous to say that kevin costner is the only good thing about the casting so far. the only other person who's cast is cavill to play superman. make it sound like most of the roles are cast and costner is the only good one lol. other than welling, who would you have picked to play superman? welling just wasn't realistic so you must have had a backup? or did you just think that he was the absolute only choice possible to play a character that's been around for 70+ years? other than cavill being british, i think most people are pretty content with the pick. i was kind of pulling for mangiello, thought he had a right look for an updated superman, but i'm pretty happy we have cavill.

that British hunk Henry Cavill is set to play the Man of Steel, the search is on the fill out the rest of the cast of Warner Bros.' big-budget Superman reboot. Sources tell The Hollywood Reporter that producer Christopher Nolan and director Zack Snyder are zeroing in on an intriguing actor to play the villain: Viggo Mortensen.

Mortensen, who is still in negotiations for Universal’s Snow White and the Huntsman, is said to be at the top of the list to play General Zod, the evil and super-powered scientist first introduced not in the comic books but in 1980's Superman II. Terrence Stamp originated the role. If Mortensen's Snow White deal doesn't close, that would potentially free him up to make Superman. Or Universal and Warner Bros. could work out his schedule and enable him to do both.

Sources say no talks have commenced and that Mortensen is just a "person of interest," much like Kevin Costner is for the role of Jonathan Kent. The actors aren't the only ones considered for their respective roles, though they are the ones most seriously talked about.

Snyder is in the midst of meeting actors for not only the role of Zod and Kent, but the three female parts well. Given the Nolan pedigree with the Batman films and the tenpole nature of a Superman film, the roles are considered some of the hottest and most-desired in town.
Warner Bros. had no comment.

I like this actor, he is a good choice and would make for an great addition to the cast. As for zod i like the character and all. But personally wouldnt want to see them reharsh zod for reboot. Leave him to a possible sequel. I still rather have a villain like metallo, brainiac, darkseid, etc... get a chance to shine. More so want a villain who hasnt been used, in the case things dont get better with the whole copyright issues.

Also looks like according to Moviehole story on THR and viggo that Daniel Day-Lewis may be also a person of interest for villain role:

BREAKING: diane lane cast in"Superman." Don't know what role. Probably ma kent. Story coming...

Great choice there. As variety says she does seem a very good choice for ma kent.

Ma Kent? Doesn't she look a little young for Ma Kent? Unless this is for a flashback, but if it's not, then Smallville Season 1 is more ahead than this lol.

Superman will probably show himself in the last 15-20 minutes.

Hooly crap! So that's gonna be the mother of Superman? :woot: I know it's an old pic guys, but please bear with me. :cwink:

"Diane Lane" and "Martha Kent" are trending worldwide! :D

Diane Lane is a great choice to play Martha Kent. It's going to be a believable relationship between mother and son. I am to read that it's Martha who shapes Clark into the hero he is. Also, she appeared in the George Reeves biopic, Hollywoodland. :super:

Well they could be mid/late 20s when they find baby kalel or they can age her up a few yrs with makeup. Like look in watchmen, calra g role when we saw her in the early stuff/flashvbacks she was her normal self. But in the 80s stuff they aged her up. But either way good choice and ha ifu got up a few posts after cosnter rumor came I said mirren/lane would be who I like to see and bam its lane. Now I hope cosnter is confirmed next.

Actual age is irrelevant. Melissa Leo just won the Oscar for "The Fighter" playing Christian Bale and Marky Mark's mother. And she's only 14 and 11 years older than either of them.

I think this is brilliant casting and proves Nolan/Snyder's Superman is a completely different take from Donner/Singer (which was already obvious, but it's nice to remind people of that). Also people gave crap for casting Schneider and O'Toole in Smallville ("Too young" was the outcry at the time) but they've been the best iterations of Ma and Pa Kent EVER.

As long as they DON'T cast Costner as Pa, I'm loving this casting decision! Also, Annette just got supplanted as the hottest Ma Kent ever. Sorry Annette!
