The Dark Knight hope ledger is workin on that accent

Did anybody else notice in "Brokeback Mountain" that Heath's texan accent made him sound like he was chewing tabacco everytime he talked? I wonder if thats how he normally talks when trying to do an american accent.

Oh, and my gf rented the movie and I just watched it to see how heath does an american accent. :O

Oh stop being such a homochondriach lol!!!! its a movie mate watching it doesnt mean we all are going to assume your gay and if you are none of us care it would be your bussiness.

Brokeback is a damn good movie, but it's not everybody's cup of tea. As for his accent in that it's astoundingly well done. I didnt even know he was an Aussie til i saw an interview with him later. The character called for that type of accent and of course he doesnt need to do that to do an American accent, but it made his character more unique and believable.

As much as i try i still dont see Ledger a the Joker i think he wil do a passable job in the role but wont blow us away and garner acclaim from fanboys and the mainstream media alike the way nicholson did.

i think he will for sure. He's got the acting talent and the smile. It's all there. Not to mention he's got a director who's aim to make the character much darker, which i think we would all like to see.

Heath Ledger in Brokeback Mountain (Yes I loved it it was a great film by the way) mumbled his lines on occassion. I seriously had to put the subtitiles on during a few parts just to see what he said.

That wasn't a Texan accent though since his character wasn't from Texas. As for the reason he did the accent that way, I don't know. He done american accents without having his mouth like that, so there was another reason for him to be doing that. MaybeIt was because his character was very reserved and uncomfortable around almost everybody for the whoel movei, and it made him sound uncomfortable.

Nice to see some positive BBM comments. :)

BTW, Ennis was very monosyllabic in the short story, hence the mumbling.

come on dude. it is a movie.

Dude I saw Four Feathers and Heath was killer that that.

He (ledger) is a good actor but he doesnt have that presence the great actors have im talking the denzel washingtons, leonardo dicaprio or johnny depp and yes Jack nicholson its a rare thing granted to very few actors have.

Well I mean some people just can't get past the gay scenes. My mom and dad just stopped at the anal sex scene. That **** doesn't bother me it is an amazing love story and shows what gay couples had to go through and probably still go through today to some degree.

*nods* Some people are very...strange about that kind of thing. And that scene was shot so dark you couldn't make much out anyway.

Anyway - I totally agree. It was a brilliant adaptation of a fantastic novel. I have to confess, I was rather unimpressed with Jake Gyllenhaal's acting up until I saw Brokeback - I take everything I said before that back, he's very talented. ;)

I know for sure women I know are not so turned on by Heath Ledger and Jake Gyllenhaal as they used to be. When I mentioned Eion Bailey for Harvey Dent they're more excited to see him and Bale.

Heath Ledger + Jake Gyllenhaal = Sex0rz.

So there. :p

If you want to see the Ledger performance that will be most similar to the Joker then watch DOGTOWN & THE Z-BOYS. Small role but he's very good. It's hard to explain why it may hold clues to how he'll play the Joker, but you'll get it when you see the movie

I have a question.

Isnt the Joker an Italian Mafioso????

I'm impressed that these people that you are mentioning Eion Bailey to even know who he is.

He's like Jack Sparrow on acid. I, too, see it as a small indication of how he's going to play the role. He has incredible charisma and screen presence in this film, and it suffers badly when he's not around.

They were some great clips on Yahoo of Heath as Skip. I'd recommend people check those out. :)

I found his performance in lords of dogtown too over the top its like someone who is TRYING to act like a beach bum not A beach bum if you get me its too fake for me Ledger doesnt engross me in his roles when he acts like i said before somewhere on these boards he doesnt have that magic ingredient as an actor someone like Johnny Depp or Gary oldman would own that character over ledger who is a capable actor but not great.

And dont anyone dare compare Ledger in lords of dogtown to depp in POTC the performances are in a different galaxy.

Would Batfans hate if Heath Ledger has a New Yorker accent for the Joker?????lol!
