Penthouse? How did he get away? Batman landed with Rachel and then what, walked away? Wasnt Joker still up their with the guests?

He probably realized Harvey wasn't there and left. There was really no need to show it.

Well I imagine no one was dumb enough to mess with him were they? He had several clown thugs with him. I think they just ran out.

i was hoping there was more to that party than what we saw on film. truth to be told the entire movie, lengthy as it was, seemed to have suffered from the too-much-cutting syndrome and now has plot holes because of it.

He probably took the elevator back down and proceeded to exit the building on foot.

Not knowing how Joker left the penthouse is hardly an important plot hole.

I understand the million ways he could've escaped, but shouldn't this have been a good 5 second clip to show lol? I mean all the people around me in the theater were confused for a good 10 minutes after this wondering where he went

I would assume he used rachel as a getaway device...like all villians do, he dropped her and used that time to escape

Yes it is. Many of his thugs were incapacitated, he was surrounded by plenty of abled-bodied men, not to mention Batman was just fine hanging out on the ground with Rachel 10 seconds after the fall. Batman didnt bother to grapple back up or inquire about Joker any longer? The fall for Batman took approx. 10 seconds, and Joker was stuck on the top floor of a skyscraper. No way he had time to take the elevator down and walk on out.

*Edit: Im not just nitpicking about things, I know in my heart it was a masterpiece, but at the same time, even as a filmmaker, the cuts left more plotholes than any film I've ever seen in my life.

Able bodied men who were scared to death of him. He probably just left right after he flung Rachel out and escaped amid the confusion.

PS. Ignorance is bliss my friend, don't burden yourself with these secrets of scary people.

I just assumed he left using the elevator after dropping Rachel. There. What else is there to discuss?

A movie not spelling everything out for you is not a plot hole.

Thats pretty broad. It wasnt just one or two people, they flat out just left too many assumptions. I loved the film, but Im not scared to point out that there was MANY MANY MANY flaws with assumptions. To an extent this is ok, but TDK was notorious with this.

If you were a filmmaker, then you'd know the difference between an unnecessary scene and a plothole. A plothole is a gap or inconsistency in a storyline that goes against the flow of logic established by the story's plot (online definition). There are many ways the Joker could've escaped, the movie just chose to not show us how as it was unimportant. That does not constitute a plothole. An example of a plothole would be if there was a nuclear holocaust that only humans survived, yet the survivors are all riding on horses....THAT is a plothole.

honest to god do you really need to see a scene of joker going down a elevator I mean no one but batman really knew he was there he got in and out and had connections to the mob and police calling it a plot hole is stupid the guy used rachel as a distraction and got away

There's nothing to argue. It is by definition not a plothole.

oh and come on Joker had people fight and kill one another just to join his gang i doubt he would of cared if a couple of them where left behind for the cops Joker looks out for himself so is it really that hard to say him and a couple of the guys just left before the cops showed up

Does this really matter? He was beaten so he dropped Rachel to stall Batman so he and his goons could escape.

I can't stand people that need a movie to make up for their lack of common sense. What the hell is he supposed to stand up there and wait for Batman to come back up and kick his ass again? What he was looking for wasn't there(well was just hidden) and he used Rachel as a distraction for him to make his exits. Any other PLOTHOLES you want to make up?

Yeah...I always figured he threw her out to get away because he was getting a huge ass kicking. All you have to do is use your brain folks. They're not going to show every little thing.

He threw Rachel over to distract Batman for his escape...DUH!

He knew he couldn't escape with Batman around!

he did fall a couple stories on to a car.......thats gonna slow you down, plus there was a lot of older more dignified(uppity) kind of people at that party, I'm sure they all collectively decided not to mess with the guy dressed in clown make-up
