Comics How do you feel about them killing off MJ

I'm in no way surprised, but I was expecting something more along the lines of having her sleep with Norman so they could destroy her character then boot her.

Also if I'm not mistaken hasn't Joe Q been very careful about making it clear that he never said they would kill her? Or maybe it was they would never make spidey a divorcee, I can't remember. :(

I'm not really going to take your comic book store owners word for anything. He could easily be shooting smoke up your behind.

But I don't really mind if they kill her off or keep her around. There are really only a few writers that have made her character interesting to me anyway. And, in all honesty, this is the type of storyline where she could easily get offed in.

So, I'd expect it if I were all of yins. :spidey:

jesus this sucks. peter parker and aunt may against the world  Like thats never happened before. Black Cat better show up quick. Or that gwen clone, i dont care which.

There is a slew of great poontang out there for Pete to end up with.

And that's probably Joe Q's thoughts too. :down I wouldn't give him credit for anything better than that.

Soon Spider-man's only supporting cast will be the near death already Aunt May. Maybe Marvel's writers problem isn't restricted to MJ but all of the supporting cast? :( These guys really need to find someone with an imagination.

i cant understand why they have a problem with a married superhero at the same time that theyre marrying off luke cage, storm, black panther, jen walters (if temporarily). it doesnt make sense!!

This was the usual nonsense from me. You've misssed nothing

Of course it doesn't. They're reasoning is self-serving and completely ignorant of the facts.

What I don't understand is why the marriage was ever allowed to happen in the first place if so many writers and editors are completely against it!

Her death is pretty much inevitable. But so is her ressurection once Quesada is gone. As much as the writers might complain about a married Spidey, I'd love to hear them start complaining about the all new, swinging widow Spidey.

If he gets the symbiote back, do we start calling him "Black Widow"?

I vote yes.

Oh and then JMS writes a story called Sins Rehashed in which Peter finds evidence that MJ has been cheating on him with the new and improved Flash Thompson. What a ****. And then Peter won't grieve anymore! YaY!

Many of those writers would have still been in secondary school. Apparently their generation would grow up with less imagination. :p

Pete and MJ's marriage is just the current scapegoat Joe uses to blame all the problems with the character on. It can't be him or his writers; it has to be something that was forced on them that they had no control over. The sad part is that I'm sure he's convinced himself that this is truth and not just an excuse, so there's probably no turning back now.

Thats how comic books work, characters are made, killed, and then brought back to life to get killed again. It takes this moronic thing called "thinking" to be able to put out a monthly form of media that has an interesting story line without resorting to killing characters off. And to be honest, if she dies who gives a damn? Does anybody here truly care about a character that you know will be eventually ressurected? At least its almost interesting, more so than this iron suit nonsense, spidey looks like a mongoloid with it on. Of course, you guys already know all this.

Does it really matter if MJ dies?

If the fans hate it, she'll come back. If the next creative force decides to bring her back, she'll come back. If someone decides to have her resurrected as a supervillain, she'll come back.

Yes, yes it does matter  !

whenever a character dies and comes back, it only cheapens the impact of the character's death and makes it less meaningful if someone else decides to kill the character again. Some characters have abused this plot device to the point that it becomes a joke (i.e.: Jean Grey).

It already takes some suspension of disbelief to accept that heroes and villains can come back from the dead, if civilians start doing it too then every hero can retire since it doesn't really matter to try saving innocent bystanders...they'll come back.

I still think it's gonna be may, think about she is the one that ultimately convinced peter to unmask and while I like may, spider-man and mj could be a lot more young and free without may there. I'm pretty certain you're store owner got his wires crossed

Apparently Marvel wants me to give my money to DC.

I've been off the Spidey books for almost a year now, and until they get their heads out of their asses, I'm not coming back.

er....so how does she die,

it seems a lil weird that you are told she dies but you are not told how, surely that is just as important as her death itself?

who gets to off her and get thrown into stardom, goblin style....

The all new, all different, all daring, Amazing Swinging Widow Spider-Man
Coming April 2007!!!!!

In Civil War #4, someone is supposed to die - a major character.
The are supposed to have a hole blown open in thier chest.

I was thinking it was gonna be Johnny Storm.

And wasnt JQ and JMS supposed to be working on a Pete/MJ story next year?

how do I do spoilers?
until i get it - just highlight the text - I made it white text.

you write spoiler inside the [] and it's supposed to appear...
but back on the main topic... I'm going to state the obvious... Joe Quesada is a fat idiot on a power trip who doesn't have a clue about anything regarding spider-man... The Smoking is kinda understandable, no one wants kids who smoke because comicbook characters do, BUT notice the characters who DID smoke... Wolverine: Healing factor... can't get lung Cancer... Ben Grimm: He's made of freaking rocks!!! What's he gonna get Rock Cancer? Nick Fury: Didin't he had like a shot of immortality formula or something... It's not like Franklin Richards is smoking or anything...

In a way that kind of makes it worse though cause with these characters you get the cool aspects of smoking without the negative coughing up half a lung type moments

That's why I listed them... Although I miss them smoking, they had all the "Cool" advantages of smoking without the consequences... For the very first time I kinda agree with the fat bastard... I wouldn't want my kid brother smoking like Wolverine... Maybe Marvel should do a Very After Special Blossom Marvel team-up Issue regarding Smoking It could be done in the Ultimate universe seeing as almost everybody is a teenager there...
