yeah, thats def conan, watched the reply and its real noticeable when he turns around to look at the gang.

Thank God Ted and Robin didn't become a thing again.

That camera that Marshall was using to make the sex tape was not one that uses a VHS tape.

Prolly had internal memory then you record it onto a VHS using a VCR.

''pay up''
''not yet''

status quo. the worst kind of writting .

this was the perfect episode the end the Ted/Robin BS forever. it was up to the writters to make it 100% clear. but no. you never know how many seasons we will get. so they needed to left it open. this of course destroys the powerful episode. it was not meant to be a joke at the end. the writters of course had a big problem since they introduced a stripper last week. so barney/Robin will not be together until the wedding

tho, I normally like the "filler" episodes (sometime even more then the story driven once) but, it was good to see them get back on track with this episode

it really seemed like they loss focus about half way through this season, it started out strong set up some good storylines, but they haven't really been fallowing through with them

an glad to see the Ted and Robin issue that was mentioned early on, finally addressed...

I really don't see Marshall not paying up as he's still holding out hope for ted and robin. I think it was more so an ending to their long term bet story. It was more of a realization of how low the whole betting on their friends' happiness was and for Marshall to pay up would only continue such a habit. Status quo would be Marshall and Lilly continuing to bet on their friends, whereas this misdirection is a subtle attempt at character development.

marsh is a eternal optimist, so him saying not yet is more of a.....I wont give money till hes married and ted pretty much said, he told robin he loved her then the next girl he loved is the mother.

the wedding day ted or robin will be the day marsh pays up and bam, in how i met tradition they do a call back to old jokes of the past.

If the show doesn't end with Ted meeting the mother and they continue it with the mother, then I can see Marshall paying Lilly when he meets her for the first time. It could show the audience that ted's relationship with the mother is long lasting and real.

Agreed. I loved this episode. The Ted-centric episodes may not be as funny as the Barney or Marshall episodes (just due to his nature as the show's straight man) but they are IMO the best episodes of the series because they give the show what sets it apart from every other ****ty, Chuck Lorre-created sitcom on CBS, they give the show it's heart.

Interesting interpretation and it may be accurate but I'm more inclined to agree with Clu' interpretation.

Yeah, if you notice, basically every bet regarding Ted that Marshall and Lily made, Marshall was always betting pro-Ted. Ted would pull off baldness, Ted wouldn't break his legs, Ted would be with Robin....with the one exception being Stella and Marshall made it very clear from the beginning that he didn't think Stella was right for Ted (and he was right), plus one could argue that he was still aware that Ted loved Robin.

Marshall always backs Ted and I think that him refusing to pay was a reflection of that.

Didn't Lilly sabotage Ted and Robin's relationship and then go ahead and bet against him that he could make it work with her? She kind of cheated on that bet. :o

yeah, that confirms she's not the mother. Those Robin is the mother people need to get over it. :cmad:

But I will say that just because she's not the mother doesn't mean that Ted and Robin don't end up together. There are people who think that in 2030, their mom isn't around anymore. Which I have to admit, could make sense. I mean, what prompted Ted to start telling his kids this incredibly long story? It could be that the mother recently left their lives (either by death or divorce) and Ted felt inspired to share how she came into his life as she's leaving.

Seeing the box of Marshall and Lily's bets made me long for the slap bet to return. Marshall still has a few to collect on, right?

I thought this was a great episode, especially the last few minutes. The montage of Robin moving out, paired with Ted on the roof. And all of the umbrellas on the end. Great symbolism.

There have been flash forwards where future Ted (played by Randor) references the mother (though he usually calls her his wife so I suppose that he could have remarried). Her being dead would be way too much of a downer. Even if Ted gets with Robin, it would be depressing as ****. It is possbile, but I really hope that they don't go that route.

As for why Ted would start telling his kids a ridiculously long story on a whim....well...is it really that out of character for Ted?

And Marshall currently has three slaps remaining. At the beginning of the season he had one slap left. He allowed Barney to remove the ducky tie in exchange for three more slaps and then used two of them at that moment.

It does kind of add a whole new layer to it, eh? Lily has secretly been sabotaging Ted's life for years if they don't pass her porch test. I wonder how many bets she won through doing so? :funny:

this was meant to be a twist in the middle of the episode. i like that they didnt show a flashback to that episode. it was up to the fans to remember it.

NPH was hilarious in that interview with the whole Papa bit! LOL

emotional ending. fantastic.

Ted has failed at moving out before. I hope he succeeds this time.

Ted gonna move in with Barney? Or move out to that house

I forget,
what happened to Marshall an Lily's apartment? did they sell it? or?

but, ya I think Ted's going to go start working on fixing up that old house he bought

Here's the listing for the next episode, which reveals Ted's plan for a new dwelling.

"The Broath" - The gang tries to break up Barney and Quinn after learning they plan on moving in together, leaving Robin and Ted to fight over who deserves to sublet her apartment, on HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER, Monday, March 19 (8:00-8:30 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network.

On a sad note we will have to wait until March 19th
