Keck's Exclusives: First Look at Becki Newton on How I Met Your Mother

Beginning February 13, former Ugly Betty star Becki Newton will bring her sexy sass to How I Met Your Mother — and shove it in Barney's face (for the rest of this season and likely into the next). "My character will present a real challenge to Neil Patrick Harris and give him a run for his money," teases Becki of her character, Quinn. "She kind of has Barney figured out before he even starts talking."

In other words, are we to assume Quinn is as promiscuous as Barney? "Perhaps, yes," she says. "And it's so much fun! For Barney, it will be like looking in the mirror. He's not used to someone speaking his language, and it's going to rock his world."

Turns out Becki cast herself in the role after meeting with the show's producers. "She sat down and said, 'Barney needs a love interest and I should be that girl,'" reveals exec producer Craig Thomas. "She wanted to come on as a formidable force to complicate his world." Complications involve several secrets that Quinn is keeping. "The final 30 seconds of her first episode, in a scene without any of our cast, will reveal who she really is. She's basically a puppet master playing Barney." Expect Ted to drop a Quinn-related bomb on love-struck Barney a few episodes later.

While Becki's meshing with her new TV family, she hasn't forgotten her Betty roots. She and her son recently got together with Ana Ortiz, Ashley Jensen and their babies. Says Becki, "We all know each other so well that it felt oddly normal to have our little ones with us."

I would say that the bombshell is that she's Barney's half-sister, but that wouldn't make much sense if she's also a love interest.

Need to get my man going again in the love department

Maybe she's Britney Spears' character after plastic surgery. :wow:

Younger sister, yep.

Michelle Tanner's younger sister as Danny Tanner's wife? hehe...:hehe:

You had to go there, didn't you? :argh:

Now it feels dirty..... :csad:

Well, you the mofo that brought her up. I assumed you wanted it to be dirty.....you dirty birdie. :o

I watched happythankyoumoreplease tonight on Netflix. It was pretty good. It's the first thing I've seen Josh Radnor do outside of HIMYM. I really want to see him in Liberal Arts now.

Question: According to my Netflix instant watching log, it took me exactly two weeks to watch every episode of How I Met Your Mother‘s first six seasons. If that doesn’t get me some spoilers, I don’t know what does. —Stef

Ausiello:
Please tell me you showered between seasons. Or at least changed your underoos once or twice. On second thought, don’t say anything; just shut up and listen: The HIMYM series finale will likely feature “the most awkward transition in series television” when Josh Radnor assumes narrator duties from Bob Saget, says exec producer Craig Thomas, who confirms that viewers “are going to see Josh in some makeup” since the baton passing would be set far into the future. “When I watched the end of the last Harry Potter [movie] I had such respect for what a problem that was to just jump ahead and look so much older,” recalls Thomas, “[because] we might be staring into the barrel of a makeup situation at some point.”

I guess we won't be seeing Saget on our screens afterall.

They should use Radnor's face and Saget's voice. Just to really **** with people.

I don't mind, but its interesting that we'll see Radnor in make-up because I wonder if that means they'll bring back the children or if it will just be him and the mother.

I was hoping to see Danny Tanner do some cleaning after his talk with the kids. :csad:

He'll probably cough real loud and then start talking like Radnor. Be like, Jesus, feels like that's been stuck in my throat for 9 years! :o

:funny: That would actually be a pretty good way to go about it.

I think it'd be really funny if they brought the kids back and they're all old and stuff now.

How I Met Your Mother: 6 Things to Expect During Sweeps and Beyond!
by Joyce Eng

How I Met Your Mother returns Monday with three weeks of new episodes and they're all bound to be doozies. Why? Remember when Victoria (Ashley Williams) told Ted (Josh Radnor) that living with Robin (Cobie Smulders), aka his ex, was complicating his search for The One? And remember when Ted saw Barney (Neil Patrick Harris) cleaning up the rose petals in Robin's room and kept it to himself? They're both going to come up the next few weeks. "The month of February will answer a lot of questions and sort of resolve a lot of things that have been simmering on the surface," Mother boss Carter Bay says. So what else can we expect? Bays and co-creator/co-executive producer Craig Thomas give us the scoop.

1. To live with your ex or not to live with your ex? The bottom line: Victoria was right about Ted and Robin's weird living situation, and her words will come back to haunt him when he brings up Barney's rose petal-cleaning spree and addresses his own unresolved feelings for Robin. "There's going to be some fireworks involved," Thomas teases. The two will also reassess their five-year plans — a callback to their Season 2 breakup. "When Ted and Robin broke up was because they asked 'Where do you see yourself in five years?' Robin thought she was going to be living in Russia or Afghanistan or wherever," Bays says. "It's five years later. We made it. It's just interesting exploring why is it that Robin is still in this apartment exactly where she was when Ted asked that question."

2. And what about Robin's other friendly ex? Barney will have his hands full with Quinn (Becki Newton), a blind date who first appears in the Feb. 13 episode and will be sticking around. In the same episode, while on a Valentine's Day getaway, Robin and Kevin (Kal Penn) hit a crossroads in their relationship. "The waters don't run as deep with Kevin as they do with, say, Barney or Ted [for Robin]," Bays says. Is that code for "split"? Even so, with Quinn in the picture, it means Barney and Robin will be on different paths for a little while with Robin focused on her career after coming through in the clutch on World Wide News' New Year's Eve broadcast. "But those two characters and two actors have this huge, crazy chemistry that I can't say that we're done exploring," Thomas says. "They inform each other's lives. Before the series ends, we'll have to address that."

3. On the move: Marshall (Jason Segel) and Lily (Alyson Hannigan) officially moved to the 'burbs on Long Island last month, but their kitchen table isn't the new MacLaren's booth. "That's not a permanent living arrangement," Thomas says. "It's pretty fun the shifts that happen in terms of where Marshall and Lily end up and how it sets up the next season."

4. Green with envy: Don't worry. Bays and Thomas haven't forgotten about the flash-forward from last season of Ted in a green dress during Lily's pregnancy. That means we will see Ted in a dress before Lily gives birth in the season finale. "I think it's satisfying when we do pay [those things] off," Bays says.

5. When will we meet the bride? Barney's bride, that is. Bays and Thomas are still keeping mum on when and how they'll introduce Mrs. Mosby, but, as promised, we will learn the identity of Barney's bride this year — and it'll come at the end of the season. "Fans have always had moments where they fall on one side or the other of some big swing that we've taken, and that will probably happen," Thomas says. "We will answer a big question: Who's Barney marrying? People will have very strong opinions about [who she is]."

6. Where's Coco? Last year, Conan O'Brien won a walk-on role on Mother at a charity auction, which hasn't happened... yet. "Keep your eyes peeled because it's gonna come up," Thomas says. "Conan paid good money for this cameo shot and his only caveat is that he doesn't want to be featured at all. So you'll either see him or you won't."

Mostly old news, but we will be seeing Ted in the green dress and Conan! :awesome:

I wanna see the flash forward where Barney is wearing the duckie tie again. They looked like they were back in Atlantic City and Barney was playing craps or something.

It will be odd knowing who Barney's bride is. I wonder if he will actually get married or if the wedding falls through for some reason?

I almost want there to be a big twist behind it where it's just one big shenanigans event, like Barney marrying a Turkish prostitute so she can stay in the country, and in all the ridiculousness, that just happens to be the day Ted meets the Mother.
