How I Met Your Mother - Part 4

What? I thought HIMYM was going to have an uninterrupted run now until the end of the series in March, which is why it was ending earlier compared to other series.

They didn't go "On the Next How I Met Your Mother" at the end of the show.

Am I the only one who thought the ending was unintentionally hilarious? It just struck the wrong chord for me, not sure if it was the music or Robin just up and floating. I get the idea they were going for, I just think they didn't execute it correctly, I kept waiting for Future Ted to make a joke but they were sincere.

Count me relieved Ted/Robin might finally be over as a subplot.

Yeah....... it was ridiculous.

Her floating away is by far the weirdest moment of the series.

As far as the episode goes, I thought it was really good. Though, I do feel like it raised more questions than it answered.

With the locket gone, and Ted (if this episode is definite in its ending) having let go of Robin, what will happen to cause the wedding to go awry?

My theory is that Ted probably has let go of Robin, but can't help but, in a ridiculous last ditch effort, try to get her the one thing she really wanted for the wedding: her mom.

This, leading to the whole locket ordeal being brought to light, and him coming to blows with Barney.

Actually 3 weeks.

Then it will do the final 7 episodes straight.

When she floated away, I thought for a second she was never really there.

Well we did see both Barney and Robin get cold feet on their wedding day.

3 week break? That sucks.

But if the finale is march 31st and we have 7 episodes left, shouldn't there be just a one week break?

1 more episode for February. There are 5 Mondays in March and the last two episodes will be on the 31st.

And yet wasn't the date of the wedding calculated to be May sometime?

Yeah, May of 2013.

With the format of this season, they've abandoned the idea of the show taking place in real time.

I'm glad that Ted let go of Robin the episode after the Mother let go of Max.

Of course, whether Ted has really let go is another matter. Didn't he seemingly let go when he gave Barney his blessing to go and propose to Robin? But then there was all this backtracking. Maybe the "twist" that the creators talk about is that in 2030, Ted is still pining after Robin despite marrying the mother. :o

Or if he dove into the lake to retrieve it. But even if he did, if he gave it to Barney to give to Robin.

I would love it if he did this. In fact, I think if they ended the episode with this, it would have been a more effective display of him letting go.

I wouldn't say unintentionally hilarious, but, I found it a bit confusing ( I mean I get the balloon metaphor, part of it) but, it kinda made me question how much (if any) of his conversation with Robin was real... when I saw her float a way like a balloon, I got this image of Ted just seating on the beach alone all night talking to a imaginary Robin just working out his issues

givin the simultaneous imaginary conversation Marshall was having with ghost Lily, it doesn't seem out of the question

I think that potential symmetry does make it a bit confusing, but that last scene of him asking her about their first date made it seem real and it was a nice call back to the pilot, which in a way makes it seem like they've come full circle and that arc is done for good.

I don't really get the reference to the pilot since I haven't watched it recently.

The whole reason Ted went back to see Robin that night was because he didn't kiss her, since he didn't think he got the sign from her. But everyone else said he did. Then, after he left her apartment when he went back, they were holding hands for a while and he still didn't kiss her. At the end, Future Ted said he asked her about it years later and she said that she was waiting for him to kiss her.

That was the moment that we saw at the very end of this episode.

The show should be titled... How I Met and Obsessed Over Your Aunt Robin for Nine Years Before I Finally Married Your Mother.

Maybe the "twist" coming at the end of the series is that Ted is holding a baby all this time, and he wasn't just telling the story to 2 of his kids but a 3rd one as well.

Unless they really want to follow through with this fan theory that the mother is dead. Maybe if that's the case, he can be telling the story to his kids while cradling his dead wife's body in his arms. :o

I hate when this show does the SW prequel all green screen background/set. It's ugly...

Oooh, I like that. How old are future Ted and mother supposed to be? They can probably still have babies, right?
