Indeed. Strange's stalker-like obsession with Batman perhaps makes him one of the few villains who can provide Hardy with a lot to work with.
Plus, Strange has a lot of untapped potential. It's like working with new clay. He doesn't have to outdo Nicholson or redeem the character from Tommy Lee Jones. He can take it wherever he wants.

And, perhaps the best thing, is that Strange is not a mobster. He's a freak, pure and simple. A weirdo who has a hard-on for figuring out Batman's deepest secrets. And I find that thought incredibly disturbing.

Good points. Add onto this the fact that, in his Post-Crisis debut, Hugo Strange was introduced as a psychiatrist working as a consultant on a Task Force Gordon forms to track down a fugitive Batman, and Hugo Strange is seeming like a better and better fit.

In one of my Hugo Strange-centric Batman fanfilms, I called him "Hugo Stranj". It was a placeholder, a foreign sounding name until I could figure out an appropriate surname that meant "strange".

I think I'd rather he just be named Hugo Strange, though. It's just a name.

'Stranj' is sort of the equivalent of 'Fries', so I'm sure it'll be recieved similarly.

Personally, I never minded Fries, so no complaints here - although maybe mask it a bit more, change the 'a' to an 'e' or something.

Have to agree, this would be a villain combination I could really get behind.
Throw in Selina Kyle as the love interest and we're all set - especially as Catwoman has history with both villains.

I think it needs to be someone a little bit younger, and slightly more physically imposing. This is, afterall, someone who wants to become Batman.

I'd be very disappointed if Strange was in the film and not cast against type. Nolan does a great job of making these characters feel really fresh, and I think his odd casting choices are a big part of that.

An aging bald guy as Strange wouldn't excite me much. Tom Hardy though? That's interesting.

Yeah, and it also plays into the pattern of Nolan casting young actors as characters traditionally viewed as older.

I think I'd rather he just be named Hugo Strange, though. It's just a name.

I think his name is fine. It's perfectly within reason, and doesn't suffer from being corny and blatantly coincidental to the character's villain counterpart.

Case in point: Mr. Fries = Mr. Freeze. Pamela Isley = Poison Ivy.

I personally would love for Hugo Strange to be the role Tom Hardy is playing. I think he could really make the role his own.
