He didn't ever actually say equal, though. The sentence ends at "your."

You're right. I just watched that part again. Equal sounds like something he might have said had Ronan not cut him off.

True, he could have but it does make me wonder whether or not there's a deeper connection between the two.

It is a real shame though. He was a real threat in Avengers (intimidating Loki and such), and then he was turned into a minor villain in Guardians

Yeah, quite a transition I'd say. I do wonder why Marvel decided killing him off was best, I had hoped we'd be seeing a lot more of him.

^

Didn't mind Other buying it. He was a pretty well realized an designed character for what he was, but I don't see what purpose he'd serve going forward, especially with better possible replacements out there as Thanos' lackey.

Loki is probably going to take his spot in Infinity War.

I'm not saying he shouldn't have been killed, just something along the lines of one more appearance but I'm satisfied with what we have. And if Loki were to become his new minion I'd be beyond ecstatic. That would be awesome. :D

I think his death was to help show the escalation, in a way. The Other intimidated Loki. But Ronan? He's on a different level to Loki. It was just to establish how bad ass Ronan was. And i'd say so far he is probably the physically toughest villain in all of Marvels movies. Apart from Kurse maybe.

As for Infinity War? I think Part 1 will be Thanos' show. Maybe even influenced more by The Thanos Quest. Showing Thanos actually gathering the different Infinity Gems. Him laying waste to the Nova Corps and Asgard. Who knows... Thor Ragnarok might have Thanos as the villain and not Surtur. Part 2 will be about the forces of the universe combining to fight Thanos. Heroes and villains.

For sure. Somebody has to take Mephisto's role in Infinity War (because I doubt Marvel will want, you know, the devil in their movies especially in such a prominent role).

Unfortunately his head got completely turned around so I doubt we'll see him again. But I do wonder what he was about to say just before he was killed. He says to Ronan "I may be your--"....his what?

The word you're looking for here is "Daddy".

Which was a low blow considering Ronan could never get The Other (The Other Potential Father, as it's listed on Ronan's birth certificate) to consent to a DNA test.

This is most likely what caused Ronan to finally snap. Tired of the endless push-pull, acceptance/alienation cycle.

Smart money says Marvel is NOT going to have Thanos be the villain of Thor 3. If anything he'll have a small role or a cameo but the actual villain? It's not happening, they want to save things of that nature for the Infinity War films. As they should.

Well whatever happens, Thanos himself needs to have a long and intense solo fight with the Avengers, just like my hopes for Ultron

^ I particularly wanna see him trade punches with the Hulk.

Trade punches? I wanna see him casually pimp slap Hulk a couple hundred yards. Thanos needs to be shown as utterly unbeatable. The audience needs to fear for the heroes lives. What better way than to have him treat the likes of Hulk and Thor like little *****es?

Well, that's basically what I meant. :woot: Hulk punches Thanos, it does nothing and Thanos proceeds to beat the holy Hell out of him and the rest of the team.

I agree, having him dominate the Hulk will show people who are unfamiliar with Thanos why he's such a threat. If the most powerful member of the team can't beat him, what hope has the universe?

:woo:

It's gonna be awesome.

I think it would be fun to have Thanos kill-off another, lesser villain completely to show how powerful he truly is. Like, it would have been interesting to see him absolutely crush Ronan (whose arrogance blinded him when he betrayed Thanos)

I think having Loki ending up being his new "right-hand" man would be just as effective, especially considering how popular Loki has become over the last three years. In fact, that outcome could be more effective when you take into consideration all that Loki has done & the fact he already has a connection to Thanos.

Well Loki was able to astral project to The Other. The other was mysterious, what if he sort of lives on? We are getting demons in Dr Strange..I won't be surprised to see The Other pop up in another dimension or something.

Also, how tall do you guys think Thanos in the MCU? Given what we've seen.

Really doubtful. As surmised previously they don't really have a reason to bring him back anywhere. And the smart money says they won't.

I'd say about the same as the Hulk; eight and a half to nine feet tall.

Thanos should kill Odin when he goes to Asgard to collect the Gauntlet and Tesseract and grabs Loki.

Odin needs to die. Not only is Anthony Hopkins getting close to the end, Thor needs to grow and after Ragnarok and Infinity War, Thor needs to be King.

Thought it was kind of made clear that Loki probably already took care of that...unless they throw more cash at Hopkins and he changes his mind.

Yeah, kill Odin off screen... You know Hopkins is gonna have to come back if Loki still looks like him, right?
