The Dark Knight Rises Ideas For Incorporating Characters Into the Nolanverse

I perosnally would hate if batman became a thriller, sure there are aspects of that in the movie, but it's basically character driven action movie series.

Batman should physically and psychologically become the batman we know(a closed off man, he rarely confines in others, and always has a backup).

Joker should return, ideally it would be nice to have a great
capable actor.

Joker changed things, now a hole new wave of gimmicky wannabes have tried to copy cat what the joker fullfilled.

The old mafioso ways of doing things are over, a very clever but shortsighted business man figures out things are changing, he must adapt, he takes the role
of mob leader.

In his new persona he begins to lose himself, he has become obsessed, he is burning his old business to the ground. He gives himself the name black mask(he wears a black skull reminiscent metal mask).
As the police find out who he is he begins a plot that will destroy everything batman has worked torwards. In his desperation he welds his mask together, forever becoming black mask.

Meanwhile the joker is being transferred to arkham for his mental evaluation, batman sees him every now and then.

Just ideas.

Joker back?
Maybe. (Joseph Gordon Levitt as The Joker!)
Harvey Dent/Two-Faces back? No,he is definately DEAD!
Penguin? No! I don´t like this character. And if he appears,Catwoman will appear too.
Catwoman? It´s better not. At least for now. I guess...(but if it happens...for God´s sake,Charlize Theron as Selina/Catwoman.)
The Riddler? Yes. I want to see him in B3. I would suggest Crispin Glover or Zachary Quinto for the role.
Another villain who wasn´t used yet? Yes...to innovate is always good! :cwink:

to be honest I'd love for John simm to be the Joker after watching the end of time i could see him playing the joker, love his laugh.

I am a strong supporter in the fact that if this is a trilogy then tie all three movies together, and not just based off the main character in this case Batman.
The opening scene I’ve envisioned would be a back story on Ras Al GHul and The League of Shadows. Ras before finding Wayne had previously attempted a similar recruitment of someone with a very similar upbringing as Bruce Wayne but he failed and instead of creating a hero he created a cunning, vicious, and untraceable villain………
Batman 3-The Dark Victory

Bruce will struggle hard with the consequences of being Batman and will vow to give up, he must first replace Harvey Dent himself or find someone that can do it and support them both as Wayne and as Batman. Batman has become something of a loner, distancing himself from Gordon and anyone else who might also have their lives torn apart like Dent did. Bruce Wayne’s struggle in TDK was to support Harvey and have him take over as the crime fighter of Gotham so he could let go of Batman, in this movie he will find out how much he and Gotham need Batman. In the beginning, Bruce begins to shift more of his focus on cleaning up Gotham from a humanitarian angle using Wayne Enterprises and his wealth to fight the good fight in the public.(Similar to his father Thomas Wayne) Things take a turn for the worse when Wayne Enterprises is accused of violating labor laws and economic scandal. Bruce will have the fight of his life as he is challenged as both Batman and Bruce Wayne by Roman Sionis. This is the Black Mask an older man , rich, a rogue member of the league of shadows and his False Face Society a ruthless gang of disfigured members who have all been tortured and brainwashed. Black Mask's most important weapons are fear and intimidation. He is known for his brutal and sadistic torture techniques, especially on the face. Black Mask also uses his connections to gather information on his enemies, and then hits them at their weak points, such as family and friends. He was the crime lord of Gotham city for many years as an undercover businessman and was the original target of Ras al Ghul., Following Joker’s lead, the costume villains band together to go to war with the mob, the police and the Batman, trying to stake their claim as Gotham’s new criminal fraternity. Meanwhile, in Gotham City, the final remnants of the Falcone/Maroni crime families huddle together to defend their shrinking empire against the wave of “costumes” that have invaded Gotham’s underworld. The Black Mask uses to his advantage the fact the Batman is now public enemy number one and the suspect of the murders committed in the Dark Knight. Reese, The employee from TDK who found blueprints for Tumbler (BATMOBILE) is found murdered, and Batman is framed, thought to be trying to protect his identity. This leads to an even greater pressure from the city for Gordon to capture Batman.

A new and mysterious female assistant D.A. emerges Talia Head and sparks the interest of Bruce Wayne and the public, she is secretly Talia al Ghul REMEMBER RAS LINE FROM BEGINS WHERE HE SAID THE LEAGUE HAD INFILTRATED EVERY LEVEL OF GOVERNMENT IN GOTHAM. She is a complex character, not quite heroine nor villainess but more of an anti-hero. Talia has brought a team of the remaining League of Shadows Warriors to Gotham City to hunt down the Batman and force him to join them or pay for her father’s death.

The Joker (in the eyes of Roman Sionis) was simply a pawn used to move in on the Falconne family, unseen in TDK was The Black Mask meeting secretly with the Joker unknown to Sal Maroni but after the Joker’s capture he recants on his offer to the Joker and plans his assassination while in Arkham. He sees the Joker’s purpose was served as he drove the Batman from hero to vigilante in the general public (WHO LET THE DOG OFF THE LEASH), and left the structure of the Mob weakened for his take over. The Black Mask is secretly also a wealthy business man and has the pull to push around Bruce Wayne and also fabricate documents and information. His Intel is unparalleled, he nearly completes a hostile takeover of Wayne Enterprises, and he is a master criminal strategist with vast amount of resources. The Black Mask and his gang of disfigured costume freaks infiltrate Wayne Enterprises and in an attempt to take over the building murders Lucious Fox who he sees as the brains of the executive board, framing Batman again in the process. Behind the near hostile takeover of Wayne Enterprises and death of Lucious Fox , Batman goes full fledged vigilante. Still wanted by the police and the mayor Batman takes the fight right at Black Mask using every resource he has left to topple the newly crowned king of the mob.
Gordon discovers he must find a way to get info out of the Joker, while in Arkham he is receiving treatment from a new doctor Dr. Harleen Quinzel who turns out to be an operative of the Black Mask. The Black Mask is determined to kill the Joker to conceal his identity but the operative does a double cross, and frees the Joker. He then kidnaps Commissioner Gordon and taunts him with enlarged photographs of his wounded (family member), in an attempt to prove that any normal man can go insane after having "one really bad day." The Joker ridicules him as an example of "the average man," a naïve weakling doomed to insanity. Again giving an explanation of the scars on his face to Gordon with a knife pressed to the inside of the Commissioner’s mouth "something like that happened to me you know...I'm not quite sure what it was. Sometimes I remember it one way, sometimes another. If I'm going to have a past, I prefer it to be multiple choice!" The Joker knowing the true identity of Black Mask and his intent on taking over Wayne Enterprises destroys the Wayne tower to announce to Gotham that he is again free and that terror has returned to Gotham while using his influence over the false face society to take down what’s left of the Falconne/Maroni family and overturn the Gotham Police Department and create “CHAOS” in the streets of Gotham with no rules and no laws.

Batman has to stop the Joker while struggling with the conflict of continuing his life as both Batman and Bruce Wayne or accepting the offer from Talia who is determined to have Bruce lead The League of Shadows. In order to stop the Joker and his gang of freaks he agrees to lead the League of Shadows temporarily, until the Black mask is found. The Black Mask, who escaped Wayne tower before its destruction is now scarred from the explosion with the Mask now seared to his skull. And through the attack on Wayne Enterprises discovered who the Batman is and pieces together his ties to the League of shadows. The battle wipes out most of the League of shadows warriors as well as the false face society and has paid a heavy toll on the city of Gotham.
The climax: Would be Black mask Attempting to assassinate Batman however Talia ends up stepping in front of bullet meant for Batman as her heart has changed after she has witnessed all the destruction caused by her own fathers hand and that of their followers.
Amidst the Chaos created by the battle between the two factions Joker and Harley Quinn escape with their whereabouts unknown to Batman.
By the end of the movie the citizens of Gotham realize that Batman is the only one who can level the playing field against the powers of the criminally insane and the corrupt powers that be in Gotham City. Batman realizes in order to finally win the battle for Gotham City he will need more help than that of the Gotham City Police Department and Commissioner Gordon.

Those are some fantastic ideas viciousvalentin, some of the best I've seen on this board. All this time I've been really unsure that a movie could be made that would top what nolan has done already, but if that was made then I think it would. The only thing is that I would rather the joker's role be extremely minimal. We've seen plenty of him, and it would be more fun so see room made for other villains like maybe the riddler. Not to mention it would be lame recasting him.

Black Mask as a main villain put that way, kind of tied to the league of shadows is a great idea, and I would absolutely love to see a villain we haven't seen on screen yet. He also seems like he would fit very neatly in the nolanverse.

is this the same story were the joker is a false face society member?
i actually thought of this, roman purposly ccreated the joke rwithout the joker knowing he was targeted for all this other sruff, like, roiman hires guys to commit a crime that sends the joker over the edge, never say what was done, but say that roman hired, "the right ppl" to drive a man insane indirectly, keeping the connection in the original, jsut an idea i ahd, :) good ideas have u

I like some of the ideas in the last few posts, especially ViciousValentin's, but Joker ain't nobody's *****.

Joker being set-up for a hit, then successfully pulling off a doublecross is a great concept, but Joker being "created" by Sionis to serve him in his war on rival gangs is a horrible one.

really all my idea says is roman hired a guy to take out a random person and throw him over the edge, what the joker did was not all planed by roman, but that he exsist is a scheme from roman, thats all im sayin idk if i like the idea much anymore

^ Sorry if I was a bit harsh there man. What I meant to say was that I prefer Joker as a kind of ghost, a vile creature who seems to teleport around Gotham, always ahead of the curve, and never the victim...unless Batman is taking him apart. I just can't see him being a pawn or some kind of creation of another villain.

Yeah no one hires the Joker. The Joker hires you....and then probably kills you. : )

all im sayin is one of roman's hired guys cuased the crie that cuased the joker, other than that, they have no connection

Ya know, I said this in another thread here, but I have this idea of Riddler of making him diverse and original enough to be adaptable for a Nolanized film, you woud permit to hear me out. LOL Okay, here it goes: a whole new concept of Riddler to make it completely fresh for a movie franchise and filling in the blanks in the comic book series. I have this idea of Edward Nygma/Nashton wearing a mask to conceal his identity from everyone. But not in the aspect of Batman, but in terms of fear of himself. I propose Riddler not only has OCD, but has OCD being a semi affect from having Asperger syndrome. If you think about it, Riddler has never been in public or face to face with people when performing puzzles and antics of terror; he's always done such through television, computers, and other technological advantages. Sometimes he confronts people in person like Batman, but other than that he's been rather private. I think having mask would show that he's afraid to socialize in person and this possible obsessive compulsive disorder and asperger syndrome would develop some answers why he's obsessed with only a few selected things like riddles and finding out Batman's identity; it would also elaborate why he may have some immature tendancies and has this attitude of "I'm smarter and better than you" thing going on. LOL That and he would also lack some of the attributes humans have grown accustomed to in terms of motor skills; kind of like a super genius who can't even tie his own shoes; a severe mentally unstable like Albert Einstine. :yay:

Instead of hiding behind a mask, I think the Riddler should conceal his identity behind a computer screen entirely and never face anyone directly. Just manipulating events from behind the scenes.

That's an interesting idea as well. :yay: Perhaps a computer similated face like V.I.K.I. in I Robot or maybe a faded scene in his own blog when people refuse to show their faces in interviews; in a way like Deep Throat from the whol Wategate Scandal.

i'm just wondering, does anyone want Dent back? I'm still kinda gutted that Two-Face won't be back.

My idea for Black Mask is a little different. I'd have him around 25 years old. An intelligent and physically fit young man whose father recently passed away and left his Cosmetics Company to him. Roman despised his father, a man who was a beloved public figure and trusted business man, but when behind closed doors was a calculation, cold and abusive man who used his public celebrity as a mask to shield the world of who he really was.

Roman rushes out a new cosmetic facial product onto the market in order to get the company out of the slump he has created since he took over. The item hits the shelves and Roman's beautiful fiancee' is the first to use the product as it hits the shelves. Due to it not having the proper testing the cream horribly scars the face of his fiancee', she not only leaves him but his company goes down the toilet and they lose missions.

Enter Bruce Wayne, a man who Roman's father admired and often told Roman to model himself on. Bruce offers Roman a bail out, since he knew his father. Roman immediately refuses the offer, finding it insulting. Bruce talks him around and due to having no options Roman accepts the offer and Bruce buys into a large percentage of the company. Roman puts on a happy face, attempting to make the business relationship work.. He secretly hates himself for putting on a facade and concealing his true self with a mask. Roman forges a mask from his fathers "Tribal Mask Collection" and creates a persona in which he can be himself, he finds the mask a way to show his true identity. He begins doing dealings with whats left of the Mob, smuggling and embezzling from Wayne Enterprises. He soon finds himself at the head of the Criminal Underworld, recruiting others like himself in a bid to bring down the large Corporations of Gotham... That is until Batman gets involved.

^

That thing about the cosmetics and beauty cream sounds like the plot from Catwoman.

If Great White Shark was in Batman,it would be cool if he had a similar appearance to Mason Verger in Hannibal, toned down of course, lol.

My idea for how Bruce Wayne copes with Rachel's death.

Bruce Wayne is avoiding dealing with the death of Rachel. He throws himself into his role as Batman, being more aggressive and brutal than he would normally be. This leads him to begin making little mistakes, something which the next villain could take advantage of. Alfred is growing concerned over Bruce's reckless behaviour. Bruce tries to prove to Alfred that he is fine and begins dating Vicki Vale, who it turns out is doing a newspaper article on Batman. Vicki also seems to have some personality characteristics similar to Rachel, something which Alfred picks up on. Bruce takes Vicki out on dates and they do what normal couples expect to do although there is no feeling behind it on Bruce's part. Vicki becomes increasingly aware of Bruce's detachment to the given situation over the course of the movie and eventually calls him out about his feelings. Vicki and Bruce break up and Bruce begins to deal with Rachel's death. A few days later, Bruce throws a fundraiser to celebrate the creation of the Thomas and Martha Wayne Foundation Trust, a charity in memory of his parents which helps provide money to improve the disadvantaged areas of Gotham. Vicki attends the fundraiser as she is covering the event for the news paper. She wishes Bruce well for the future and hopes that he finds someone who can make him happy. Bruce then talks to some other fundraiser guests including a woman named Selina Kyle.

Vicki wouldn’t be such a damsel in distress as she was in Batman.

isnt that his comcis origin? with a few sublte changes of course, like weree he gets the mask etc

If the penguin is done everyone has been saying he should be a russian arms dealer.

Well I do like that story, but what if he is the brother of the russian mobster joker killed.

Also black mask was a rival to Wayne ind. it took over manufacturing arms after Wayne industries stopped selling weapons, they were funded by the mob and also ha all there money in mafia banks.
After the events of TDK, his
company is nearly bankrupted and his father who created the company from the ground up had disowned him, his wife is about to divorce him(blackmask).

Now there is jumbled up mess of mafia in Gotham, gangs fighting over who is in command.

So he decides that he must do something, he Is losing his mind slowly, he begins taking over the mob using guise of black
mask. He inspires fear into people by being extremely brutal. After a while everything comes back at him, he steals millions of dollars from his own company and raids his own warehouses.
His wife comes over after she figures out what he is doing and tells his father, he then locks them both in his own house and burns it to the ground in anger. Realizing what he has done he goes completely insane, and then welds his mask permanantly to hdi own head.

Everyone Is also looking to get back jaker throughout the movie.
