I'm Reading Your Stuff: General News and Discussion Thread

With Reeves mentioning how the GCPD show evolved instead of being outright cancelled I think that could still happen in some form, maybe that Dent show.

It's also interesting but probably unrelated that Terrance Winters revealed his initial concept of the show as well this past week, maybe he was told they are steering in a different direction so he didn't feel the need to keep any details close to chest anymore.

I'm surprised Gunn hasn't debunked these rumours yet. He is usually pretty quick to say it's false.

I still am curious to see if they decide to go with the spin-off film option they had mentioned years ago for certain villains.

For HBO stuff I do believe they would probably want a Catwoman tv show (unfairly, a movie will have to get over the 2004 debacle), joker or two-face. With Catwoman and joker being the biggest "brand" characters. Two-faced would be dependant on the actor and reception if he shows up in a sequel.

If Joker is not featuring as a prominent character in the movies, there is so much that could be done with a tv show. Plus it would be a few years removed from the Phillips movies that the appetite might be there from the general audience. It would also likely have massive ratings. I don't see them passing up that opportunity.
Personally, I'd prefer it if they don't make a Joker tv show. While I enjoy the character, I much prefer when he's shrouded in mystery. More of a force of nature than a character wronged by society. We've see enough of that with the current movies. His aesthetic certainly lends better (imo) to the idea that he's this hyper-violent wraith.

I’m getting even more curious by the day about how Hush could be portrayed. What’s his personality like? What would be different about this version from the comics? Who will serve as an inspiration for his character?

I have this idea for a Hush scene where he’s in prowler mode. You don’t get to see his face in that time, but you can hear his theme playing. You know he’s up to something. Eventually you realize just how he’s going to hurt Bruce. You realize that his first target is…Dory.

She's taking a cab to see her granddaughter for the Holidays. In a deserted part of Gotham, the cab driver blows a tire. He gets out to check it and, within a blink, Hush comes from out frame and takes him out. Dory is screaming. Hush opens her door and says “shhhhh, no one can hear you scream”. Dory hits Hush with her purse and tries to run. Pleading for help. She stumbles and falls then rolls over onto her back to come face to face with her executioner. “Who are you?”, she asks. She receives no reply. Then suddenly silenced by a single gunshot and left lying in the snow.

SPOILER: It doesn't matter who you save. :p
Ugh I just reminded myself how it also doesn't matter if you and Selina are on good terms at the end of the first game because they go nowhere with it in the second.

Colin said that based on what he knows from the show that he suspects Oswald will get involved in politics at some point. So maybe Penguin vs Harvey Dent in Part II? Either head-to-head candidates or Dent trying to bring Oz down.

I’m thinking maybe Harvey will be on the verge of busting Oz. Oz will try to paint Harvey as being corrupt (two-faced). Something like what we had with Thorne and Harvey in BTAS. Then, Harvey eagerly rushes in to bust Oz during a raid despite the warnings from Gordon and Batman. That’s when Oz destroys half of his face.

Which means something bad's gotta happen to Real.

Yeah, IMO, the most important thing at this point to keep about adapting Mr Freeze is far and away the backstory and motivation that Victor has with his wife Nora. That's why people love the character and why we love Heart of Ice.
Absolutely. It's one of my favorite stories for a comic book villain honestly and would fit perfectly into this world.

I'm not entirely sure how Reeves could make Freeze work, but I trust whatever he would have planned. Regardless, I desperately want to see Freeze in this world. He's #1 on my list of must see villains.

They have already established that Penguin has compromising material on politicians (Hady) I can see him doing a Rupert Thorne and getting files on Dent's psychological condition and trying to blackmail him, you can even draw a parallel with Thomas and Martha and the whole thing involving her condition being exposed.

I assume it won’t happen because of Sentry, but Lewis Pullman has a great look for Dent

I am going to say again that I don't think characters like Freeze, Poison Ivy, etc are in Reeves wheelhouse. Save them for the DCU Batman.

First really short look at snowy Matt Reeves’s Gotham
