The Dark Knight In Heath We Trust: A Ledgerbration: The TDK Joker Appreciation Thread - Part 1

Heath was such a talented actor.

But I remember when I first heard that they casted him as Joker - I was WTF? Not because of his acting skills but because he didn't look like the Joker from the comics. So I never thought of Heath before (I was on the Crispin Glover road, like many of us). But, yes, Nolan knew absolutely what he was doing.

I am not a Nolanite but his castings mostly are perfect. And Heath as Joker was the best choice he ever made.

Which is funny, because people are freaking out about Matthew McConnaghey being in Interstellar. It's like, "Damn, when are we going to trust this Nolan guy?"

Imagine if he had not passed. Wonder if he would have reprised the Joker in another movie.

I think it was a certainty. Even David Goyer said it would be a no brainer.

Nolan sees actor's hidden potential. ..minus Katie Holmes.

I still believe she was forced on him by WB executives. She was on a popular WB TV show at the time and I think they were trying to reach the teenage girl audience by including her in a Batman movie.

My tribute to Ledger in video, highlighting his 10 years in film, featuring The Dark Knight.

That's really something to hear.

I guess the rumors about him staying in character all the time on set weren't as exaggerated as we may have once thought.

That only fueled my desire to see some behind-the-scenes stuff about Heath's process on the Ultimate Edition release.

This needs to be in here.

Just saw it, feel kinda sad now but thanks for posting.

It's stuff like the diary video and that Eckhart interview video that would be great on the special features of an ultimate edition of TDK.

Candy was really an amazing movie. I love smaller but well acted and well written films like that.

Awesome, thanks for posting the link.

Amazing! Thank you The Joker, great to finally get a glimpse at the (legendary) "Joker Diary." I like that the cover of the notebook with the kid and the elephant has a circus theme, it was also cool to see how much Alex from "A Clockwork Orange" and his droogs are featured prominently in it (cited by Nolan and Heath as an influence and confirmed here), I also liked the pic of the Hyena (reminded me of how Hopkins mentioned spiders as an inspiration for Lecter) and the creepy clown photo:woot:. I would like to read an in-depth analysis of the diary online, such a fascinating process and document.

Yeah, it would be great.

Really looks like the Joker (scene : when Crane takes Dawes to the basement)

Not the best quality pic, but if you watch the Blu-Ray, he really looks like him lol
