The Dark Knight Rises Interesting article about life after TDKR

Let the right on in got a reboot 2 yeears after the movie was made. I don't get why it's the hot new thing to reboot when they are so many things you can still do with batman

They will still be doing many things with Batman...just not Nolan's version of Batman since he won't be making it.

I wanted this as a seperate thread but if the mods can link it to a similiar thread fine by me I just thought this article was interesting about how the future of Batman films can continue if WB decides to either stay with Nolan's universe or completely reboot the franchise after every 3-picture trilogy.

Nolan staying on as producer intrigues me...

The way I see them doing it? Given the rumor of a JL movie in 2013 (which I don't see happening btw):

Introduce the NEW Batman actor in the Justice League movie. Then have that same actor reprise the role in the proposed reboot in 2016 (?).

LostSon,

That's exactly how WB seems to be moving forward. It's sounds as if Flash and Wonder Woman are getting the same treatment as well.

Only Lantern and Superman will have been established (if received well) before the JL film.

Why should a director be limited to what Nolan has done? Batman is a bigger character than that. He deserves more.

exactly

Just do a stand alone Batman story that is set in a more stylised world, no connections to the Nolan series. Use a villain like Mr. Freeze so that the audience really understands this isn't Nolan's Batman.

Oh, and put him in a suit like the comics :o

I agree to everything in this post right here.

No more movies. Instead, an HBO television series.

No, a TV series would be a step backwards instead of forwards.

Exactly, Nolan knows better than to impose his ideology onto some one, especially another creative talent. The suggestion that he will somehow stifle a new and different approach doesn't take into account that Nolan is determined to end his Batman story with the third one. If anything, a producer like Nolan might help keep the franchise from deteriorating into a rehash.

The way I see it, this isn't a reboot of Batman Begins, it will probably not be anywhere near a Batman origin story, maybe one for a 9-year-old Dick Grayson, but not Batman. There's a difference between a reboot and a reinvention - the latter is broader. And to be honest, Nolan's Bat films are so close to the source material that you don't really need to address the early years at all in a film that is set completely at the height of Batman's career. It could be a murder-mystery, a full-fledged detective story, a whodunit even, without jeopardising anything that's been established so far. There is room for more creative exploration of the Bat-mythos without doing anything to Nolan's trilogy (be it a strong adherence to the plot or style, or even completely forgetting it).

The writer of the article fails to analyse the situation in every paragraph. It's a terrible paragraph that will perhaps mislead a good number of readers online.

They just need to do a continuation with more of the classic villians...Its that simple, no reboot is needed.

After TDKR, let's have a new, less realistic take on Batman.

Holy ****! There will still be life after The Dark Knight Rises! We aren't all going to die!

Yeah, and Tim Burton was an exec producer for Batman Forever...

Have a little faith people... After Nolan completes his story, I'm sure the producer side of him will give more freedom to a new director, as long as he doesn't cheapen Nolan's original series. Which is what I'm sure he's more concerned about, after the fit he threw (allegedly) about the scrapped Justice League: Mortal flick...

He just wants to protect his baby/legacy... And make sh** loads of money :cwink:

Yeah, I've been pushing for a Dick Grayson - centric movie there as well :D  let's ditch this thread.

i would personally love if they went back to the comic bookiness of the previous films. not like schumacher, more like tim burton, where the world was surreal and imaginative, like the comic books. lookswise, nolans movies to me are just too damn everyday normal for my taste. they need to take a few steps back, realize that realism isnt the key to every comic book success, and start to have some fun with batman again. theres a reason i can watch B89, Returns, Forever over and over and over again and why i cant bear to watch BB or TDK more then twice. i just fall asleep.

Keep the movies going without continuity. Don't redo the origin, and just do a stand alone Batman film.
