Interstellar - Part 3

when a nolan movie has a teaser trailer it is literally that... a teaser :D

Literally. Inception still has one of the craziest teasers I've ever seen.

The problem is it teases virtually nothing. All I got from the trailer is it is a space movie by Nolan. Meh. Maybe I'm just spoiled by the Godzilla teaser trailer. :p

I was spoiled by the Godzilla teaser and I loved how poignant these teaser was. Maybe that's my Nolan and Godzilla bias coming together in one post. :o:oldrazz::woot:

Probably. :oldrazz:

Godzilla comes out 6 months before Interstellar. They hadn't officially released a trailer for Godzilla until this week. That is awfully late for a first trailer on a tentpole movie. They really needed to knock it out of the park and they did.

Yeah, that is why it is so awesome. :awesome:

I'll be honest. I thought the trailer blew. There was no movie in it, just a message that we still have to explore space.

 how could i forget that exploring space isn't a great triumph of the human race, instead its actually just a bunch of work. lmao

Not sure what you are getting at. I strongly agree with the message of the teaser, the problem is it doesn't really tease the movie. And, since it is a teaser trailer, that's what I'm going to judge it as.

Ultimately, it completely failed to excite me.

Well that showed absolutely nothing to get excited over. It didn't tease anything.

I suspect the trailer is one of those where you think it's not teasing the movie's plot and then after you see the film, you'll realize they gave away a lot more than it appeared at the time.

Craig's post earlier in this thread gave a pretty good explanation. They basically give away the reason the characters need to go on a space mission (inability to grow crops on Earth), but a lot of people won't pick up on it until they see the movie.

Agreed. People anymore want some massive money shot for every single teaser and it's the only way some will say they got "teased".

I should have known better than to expect anything other than a couple of seconds of actual film footage in a Nolan teaser. You bastard Chris Nolan. lol

All part of the build up people, all part of the build up. You all should know this by now.

I mean, this is for all intents and purposes an announcement teaser. Before this weekend, your Average Joe wasn't yet aware that Nolan's new movie is about space travel and is coming out one year from now. Now they do. And yes, Nolan's name has that kind of weight now where all you have to do is drop it in the teaser and the movie instantly becomes a must-see event.

It doesn't give us hardcore movie fans a lot to chew on, but that's fine. Just builds anticipation for the next trailer where we'll actually get to see some footage.

The average Joe that didnt know about this movie has probably already forgotten about the teaser. The people that actually care about Nolan's name already knows about this film. The teaser did nothing for anybody.

I wanted to be like this:

But it ended up like this:

No biggie, though. I remember Inception's teaser was very vague. I'll just wait for the actual full length trailer to get a better feel for the movie.

Hmmm didn't realize you were the speaker for everyone.

My point was that Nolan's name has grown to the point where it registers with the average moviegoer. He's not just the guy famous for making Batman movies, he also made Inception which was huge.

It'll all be a moot point when this movie rakes in tons of dough. This teaser didn't even show off the movie's impressive cast. It's all gonna snowball once they actually start revealing footage.

The way you worded your post made it sound as though being an astronaut would be such a chore. made me chuckle.

Funny because I heard a lot of positive responses from my very mixed crowd when I saw The Hobbit: TDOS at midnight. Mostly because it's another Chris Nolan movie, but still.

I disagree . The old couple next to me started discussing it. Also the lead actor is at a career high point. Also I like that I don't know everything about this film.

I think the combo of MM and Nolan's name onscreen probably garnered interest. They're both pretty hot properties at this point. After Dallas Buyer's Club, Wolf of Wall Street and this, I seriously think Matt is gonna be getting a lot more tentpole offers that aren't rom coms. I still hate that he never went and did another Dirk Pitt movie.
