Interstellar - Part 3

None of that matters.

K...

People want to tug their carrot seeing new footage, then they saw footage they've already seen, and felt limp. What new footage there was wasn't worthy of intrigue aside from the one of Bane rising (ha!) towards Batman, but it wasn't enough.

To me Gordon in a hospital bed was plenty worthy of intrigue. Much more than say...audio of a Bruce/Alfred conversation that sums up the idea of "escalation" that was already pretty clear by the end of Batman Begins.

You could say that the point of a teaser is to tease,

I could, and I would.

but it was the equivalent of a dance behind a curtain on the opposite block rather than a steamy lap dance up front. The dance behind the curtain may have been technically proficient, but damn it if it didn't tease.

Lol, I love the analogy, but I have to disagree. The complaints leveled against the teaser seemed to have more to do with the "gimme gimme more more now now" mindset of the carrot tuggers out there than anything else.

Same reason the also very well-crafted second TDKR trailer eventually got a lashing on here...people watched it too many times, got tired of it and wanted to see more. Their problem, not mine.

Most don't agree! It seems.

For my part, I was only intrigued whether my sense of humor was going haywire that I was laughing at such a somber scene. Based on the reaction of some of my social circle, I figured I turned out okay.

I think they just wanted a decent teaser.

Do you mean the first trailer? Because the second trailer was received well for the most part. The first trailer, I agree. It was rather good from a structural standpoint, yet I can also sympathize with those that didn't like it, because despite the structure, the footage itself gave off no energy or color. It was dull. BB had fledging newness, TDK had Ledger's harrowing glee, TDKR a bore.

My friends and I were all talking about and re-watching the TDKR teaser for weeks. Your point?

Yeah, the first trailer. I think most people loved it it at first but then wore it out after a while. I definitely wouldn't call it dull visually (it was full of rich and dense images, and a delight to go frame by frame through), but I'm good with ending the debate here since this really isn't the thread for it.

The TDKR trailer(s) were indeed excellent. I couldn't wait to see how Gordon got in that bed, how Bruce was with him in the hospital and how their relationship had changed, why Bruce was so convinced that Batman 'didn't exist anymore', where the fight between Batman and Bane was taking place and it's larger context in the story etc. Great work.

To be honest, I've always found the voice-over in the Begins teaser to be a little too on the nose, too obvious. I'm glad that dialogue wasn't in the film. But it gets points for being so ominous; it's like a teaser to a horror movie.

Goyer probably wrote it. :o

And all those teasers are great, with the Inception one being my favourite. The cinematography and sound design are brilliant with the nature of the images we're seeing causing tons of intrigue. Hopefully the Interstellar teaser is just as good

Insomnia
Inception
Intersteller

Hmm.... has this already been brought up?!

These movies have to be connected in some way. We just have to discover how. Nolan hasn't done this on accident.

Well Insomnia and Inception both deals with sleep.

That was my joke in the previous thread :oldrazz:

Inception
Interstellar
Interception

I swear, I had no idea. My heart's broken, I thought the joke was original. :csad:

Casey Affleck talks a little about working with Chris in this interview-

If you are planning to take up another directorial project, did you pick up any tips from observing Christopher Nolan during your time on “Interstellar”?

It's hard to take away anything, because people when they're that good, you can't really see them doing anything. I don't know if you've had that experience, it's like a great painter who's like, "I don't know, you just do that," [waves his hand] and it's a masterpiece. He's very relaxed, very easygoing; people make suggestions and he's like, "Sure I'll try that." It sort of seems like he's just phoning it in but he's not, he's actually making brilliant choices, but he's made those choices four months ago before you even got involved. It's sort of all gelling at the same time, but he makes it very, very easy.

If there's anything I took away, I guess it would just be do your homework so when you get to set you know that you don't have to be super stressed about this and that. He's thought a lot about the whole movie, and he's figured it out so well that he can be spontaneous or do nothing and it's all going to work anyway. I see the evidence in the sets that he built and the way that he directs the scenes and the way that he was shooting them, you just are like, “This is going to be amazing.”

And a video interview with Casey (The 4th video is the Interstellar talk.)

Haha I laugh every time I see that photo of McConaughey. He looks like an evil wizard.

To be a honest, I thought the thread bump was a trailer. :hehe:

"A Christopher Nolan film," actors names fade in, title card w/ music swell, then finish with brief video clip of "I'm Kip Thorne and I endorse this movie. Suck it, Stephen."

Hope to hear some teaser descriptions soon!

Me three. I wonder what we will see? Anne-stronaut walking across an Iceland lake, perhaps? :oldrazz:
