I think Viggo is being a dick by dissing the director and movies that put him on the map. Others can appreciate the "honesty" I just think it's a dick move.

This, so much this. Maybe Viggo should consider that the LOTR movies got bigger in the sequels because the story itself is supposed to get bigger. The massive battles happen in the books. Jackson didn't just invent that for the movies. The first book centers around the core group of characters, and in the next two, the story expands significantly.

I find Viggo's comments annoying. As soon as I saw what he said I knew it was going to give more fuel to all of the geniuses on the internet who think that they could have made a Lord of the Rings adaptation that would have been SO MUCH BETTER than Peter Jackson, the guy who, you know, actually did it.

When it comes to the mainstream audience, he was known as good character actor before that. I'd say Cronenberg has made more of an impact on his career, if we are talking critical reception of his performances.

I mean...not really. Jackson was the one that showed mainstream audiences h could be a billable leading man. He made Viggo a superstar. There's no way to argue that.

And I don't disagree with what he said, but you can't deny Jackson had the biggest impact on his career.

He made him better known but not a superstar. Brad Pitt is a superstar. And I clearly said to critical reception of his acting performances. Viggo was Oscar nominated for a Cronenberg film. He can thank Jackson for a bigger paycheck though. The man has stayed away from bigger budget films since then. He would still be doing art house films like he is now with or without Jackson.

Yeah your post is pretty much 1000% untrue. Nobody ****ing watches Cronenberg movies and LOTR was clearly his breakout role. Those things are unarguable facts my good man.

I think less of Viggo after his comments. I suppose only non geek friendly actors like Megan Fox and Shia get **** for biting the hand that feeds them.

It's been over a decade. I think Viggo can say what we all know, which is that PJ and subtlety are like oil and water.

Besides, neither Viggo nor Jackson have reputations as $%$@-stirers or divas. I'm sure they still respect one another and I doubt PJ GAF if Viggo offers his opinion.

Being critical of one's work and being critical of a person are two different things. Viggo was being critical of his work, and he never insulted Jackson.

Legitimately one of my favorite scenes ever.

1970's and 80's Cronenberg is something I enjoy and A History of Violence was interesting but beyond that don't care about him as a filmmaker anymore. He bores the hell out of me.

I get the critical aspect, but you were disagreeing with a poster who said Jackson put Viggo on the map, and Jackson did. Critics aren't really putting you on the map, a big budget film is. Jackson gave him that.

And Viggo didn't completely stay away from big budget films. He did do Hidalgo right after LOTR, that wasn't exactly a small indy flick. But after that he did seem to stay away from them after that.

Point being, Jackson made Viggo a name the joe schmo movie-goer would recognize Croneberg didn't.

Anywho, I will say I am surprised there isn't a bit more out on this film. Inception Nolan played pretty close to the chest (and to be fair, the trailers never really gave much away) but around a month before the show I had at least a decent idea of what the general plot was. This film is still shrouded in much mystery.

Did anybody see Viggo in one of his appearances on The Daily Show, when he put plastic insects in his coffee mug, thinking it would be funny and it wasn't. It was hilariously uncomfortable to watch.

I'm fine with the extreme mystery surrounding Interstellar but I'm not like obsessed with staying away from info or anything. I'm not going to be avoid trailers or T.V spots. I will probably only read Devin Faraci's review, possibly Drew McWeeny's if I feel like it.
