Bourne/Cross, Hunt, Mills and whoever. The spy king is back and sending all you pretenders to the throne back to the play pen.

The new Bond film, #Skyfall, more than makes up for Quantum of ****sticks. Gripping, funny and suave.

Up there in the top tier of the Bond series. Amazing what an actual script and a quality director can do. #Skyfall

Skyfall looks far too epic for words. #lovemesomeJamesBond

Very lucky to have seen #Skyfall tonight. Stylish, sophisticated and full of action. Bond is back!

#Bond is back with a vengeance & #Skyfall is a fantastic film! Loads of nods to classic Bond & even some #HomeAlone! Definitely go & see!

#Skyfall = fabulous. Great, entertaining, stylish movie, just the way they should be. Loved it!

Interesting info and hilarious spelling error.

"The film opens conventionally enough with some pre-credits spectacle – Bond on one of the many chases that run through the film, accompanied by Naomie Harris, a kiss ass version of Miss Moneypenny. This interlude involves trains and motorbikes and is staged with the elan you would expect. However, the credits themselves hint at the different tack the film plans to take. Instead of the silhouettes of women, we’re offered far darker imagery with a hint of The Lady Of Shanghai about it – Bond in a hall of mirrors – all accompanied by Adele’s resounding theme song."

From Twitter : Skyfall reminds me of The Dark Knight Returns. It takes time to deepen the characters & let us enjoy them, in the middle of all the action

Couldn't be worse than QOS lol

Considering more then half of the Bond films are far worse then QoS, I don't see how it possibly couldn't have been. Thankfully it seems to be on par with Casino Royale.

QoS, the film that will be appreciated more in a couple of decades, OHMSS style.

The only drawbacks really, are that the girls – the very pretty Berenice Marlohe and Naomie Harris – get next to no good lines, not much in the way of jokes and little in the way of action, apart from fluffing up a shooting. And the episode in the Underground will mean that you’ll think long and hard before going on the District Line again. Other than that, it’s Premium Bond.

That interest me. If we consider all the Bond girls, you can count on one hand those that were more then window dressing.

But being hailed by pretty much every reviewer, critic and media personality who has seen th film as best Bond ever, best Bond in decades, best film of the year, better than TDKR....those are reviews/statements that goes to show a ridiculous amount of effort and passion went into making a very strong film that went above and beyond expectations.

@Gareth_00789 It's just like the traditional ones. Trust me, you won't be disappointed. It's amazing. Best Bond film in my opinion.

just saw the film - going to write my review in a bit but thought Id weigh in with some first impressions

it was brilliant - for me just below Casino Royale (my fav one)

great interpretation of the character, as with CR (and to an extent QoS) far closer to the literary version, and the final 3rd really shows off Bond's intelligence too

the pacing is great - and the cinematography is beautiful, Deacon and Mendez get it spot on creating some of the most exciting visuals ever seen in a bond film

Bardem was great in creating a theatrically weird yet believable villain - and Q was fantastic opposit Craigs Bond creating some genuinely comedic moments

only let down for me was the title sequence (and thats me nitpicking)

Is the gunbarrel there?

Listened to Skyfall for the first time yesterday.

Pretty good. One of the best Bond themes IMO.

Not as good as though. My fave.

Or simply hyperbolic statements made do to an unjust feeling over both QoS and TDKR. Always easier to replace the replacement.

I think this is going to be wonderful, but we have to look at what those comments really are. Heck, a lot of people on twitter came out of the early TDKR screenings talking perfection and Oscars, and then the unwarranted backlash began. Plenty of people on this site like to act like it isn't even a good film, talking about maybe someone else will be able to break the third film curse, which is pretty ridiculous.

Skyfall will have a different sort of impact to TDKR. You can argue whether or not TDKR is a good film, but its predecessor was the standalone classic of the genre. It was impossible to beat in public reception, if not in quality. QoS represents a degree of disappointment for most people, so Skyfall has every opportunity to be a sensation.

...if it is as good as we hope.
