My understanding is that the division is more on a foreign/domestic intelligence/security basis than an intelligence/counter intelligence issue as MI5 derives its authority from the Home Office and MI6 the Foreign Office. MI6 does have its own counterintelligence division, Bond being a fictionalized operative of that division actually.

But isn't that the very idea behind the conflict? That both have their own idea on what falls into their jurisdiction? What equals foreign/domestic problem.

Oh indeed, it is, but I think Spooks overplays MI6's involvement at home quite a bit, as any TV series naturally would. The actual world of spies is much duller than we think, less fights over jurisdiction I would presume.

Yeah, of course the overplay it for the drama. Don't know about the actual world of spies being that dull however, especially considering the mysterious deaths and poisoning of spies over the last half a decade.

I'm also a fan of the books first and foremost. Is there much of Fleming in the film? Any unused Fleming ideas or scenes incorporated in the film? Just generally speaking, don't need spoilers.

Umm are you being serious or are you joking? If your talking about Die Another Day being the best Bond movie what the heck? That movie was one of the worst Bond films. And I am not a Adele fan but her Skyfall theme is spot on one of the best Bond movie themes.But everyone is entitled to their own opinions.
