IMHO, the absolute bottom of the 007 barrel...

Diamonds
Live and Let Die
Golden Gun
Moonraker
View to A Kill
Die Another Day

confirming to myself once again that Roger Moore was the worst of the Bonds... I'll take George Lazenby and his OHMSS ANY day...

OHMSS was a better movie than any Moore film, I'd agree. But, Lazenby himself was meh in the movie. Roger Moore was a much better Bond in regard to acting. He definitely made the most bad Bond films, but there is a reason Lazenby wasn't in anymore. Had Connery been Bond in that film, it'd probably be the best Bond film period. But, I do feel Lazenby prevents it from being the best.

I agree with you that Moore is a better actor as Bond... but Lazenby did the best that HE could for his very first acting role, I believe...

and I think that EON was trying to look for a mirror-image of Sean Connery... someone who had that vague resemblance to Connery, hence those first few opening shots of Lazenby in shadow before we actually saw him...

and I have ALWAYS envisioned how the movie could have possibly been if Connery HAD done OHMSS... but it probably would have been the last Bond where he looked in reasonably good physical condition, as opposed to how he looked in Diamonds... obviously a bit out of shape and with, I believe, a bad hairpiece... though a few years after Diamonds, his physique DID seem to improve... I can't remember but I think it showed in "Zardoz"...

as for Moore, even though he IS the better actor as opposed to Lazenby, I have ALWAYS found Moore to be a bit too smarmy for my viewing taste... I think the ONLY film that I ever truly enjoyed Moore's performance was in the movie "Ffolkes"... now THAT was a really good performance and a really good film...

I like Live and Let Die. Yes, it's silly, but it's a fun Bond movie with colorful villains, and some good action pieces.

Agree with the rest of your choices. I'm surprised to see some people hate on TWINE so much. Yeah, Christmas Jones was awful, but Sophie Marceau made up for her, and the movie itself is ok. Certainly not one of the worst, IMO.

I just wanted to shoot that fatass redneck Sheriff JW Pepper... :cmad:

From Russia With Love
Goldfinger
Skyfall
Casino Royale
The Living Daylights

CR
FRWL
TB
SF

I also find Moore to be the Adam West of the Bond films, really likable guy but terrible projects.

Moore is the Adam West of the Bond movies, but I still find his good movies to be pretty fun and entertaining.

Top 9 (Because 5 isn't enough)

1. Skyfall
2. From Russia With Love
3. Goldeneye
4. Goldfinger
5. The Spy Who Loved Me
6. On Her Majesty's Secret Service
7. Casino Royale
8. Thunderball
9. Dr. No

I like Live and Let Die too. Though Moore is pretty iffy as Bond in it (especially in the first half), the boat chase being too damn long, and several annoying character that should have been cut from the movie (like Dixie Carter and Sheriff Pepper), it has it's merits. Moore's comes on strong in the second half of the movie, especially during the action sequences, Mr. Big to me is the most underrated villain of the series, and I love the blaxploitation presentation. Live and Let Die feels like a different kind of Bond movie, which is both a good and bad thing, but more of a good thing to me.

I don't know. I always go back and forth between OHMSS and TSWLM. I currently have TSWLM at #5 and OHMSS at #6, but I always change they're place every day.

OHMSS is such a well done film. The action sequences, the directing, the writing, and for the most part, the acting was well done. Laz wasn't that up to snuff, but he didn't kill the movie. The supporting characters were amazing enough to carry Lazenby.

But there's something special about The Spy Who Loved Me. It's insane amounts of fun, and Roger Moore was so awesomely badass in it. Plus, to me, it's the third best looking Bond movie behind You Only Live Twice and Skyfall (OHMSS is #4 though the composition and camera movement is better).

Skyfall doesn't even come in my top 10.

Mine would be

1. FRWL
2. GF
3. DN
4. TB
5. YOLT
6. TSWLM
7. OP
8. TLD
9. MR
10. CR

It might change upon subsequent viewings, but at the moment it's not quite there yet.

Right at the bottom for me would be DAD, QOS, TMWTGG, DAF.

I think OHMSS is overrated. Just my opinion, but I can't stand George Lazenby.

I must be the only one that really likes A View To A Kill :(

Lazenby ruins an otherwise fine movie for me. I know many like his final scene, and it was really nice to see a side of Bond we hadn't seen (at that point), and it really was heartbreaking....but his poor acting didn't save the movie, nor that scene.

I don't mind it at all. I prefer it to TMWTGG and LALD. I think Roger was a bit too old in it, but most of it I do like. Christopher Walken was a great Bond villain, and the fight on the Golden Gate Bridge is a great climax. I would watch AVATK over QOS or DAD any day.

Not to mention one of the best scores of the entire series... "We have all the time in the world" is one of my fav. pieces of music ever.

damn, Johnson, you crack me up with that username of yours... :lmao:

Really enjoyed it and it really had stellar performances. Bardem, again, gives us another memorable villain. I also really like Craig's Bond as the one thing I always disliked about Bond was his suave and easy going ladies man persona. It was as if it never bothered him that he had the pressure of preventing modern disasters from occurring on his shoulders.

This Bond is different though. He's battle scarred, traumatised and borderline alcoholic. I particularly liked that latter aspect of his character and I hope it isn't forgotten about in further installments as it's something that has great potential (imagine Bond making a monumental mistake as he was too sauced while on the job).

I'd give it 4 out of 5, in a year with tough competition from other big action films Bond has definitely held his own. I hope Craig does at least one more.

So, what do you think about this Oscar buzz surrounding Skyfall? Do you think it's warranted? Or are they overrating this film just because Academy darlings Sam Mendes, Javier Bardem and Judi Dench are involved?

Roger Deakins deserves an Oscar for cinematography.

I doubt either would win, but it'd be great if Bardem and Dench were nominated. Their performances were stellar, especially their last interaction at the Skyfall Chapel.

if ANYTHING rates an award, it's for that gorgeous cinematography...

it would be WELL deserved for that alone...

True... but there were many other films this year that featured gorgeous cinematography. Cloud Atlas had stunning cinematography, but I'll bet you a million bucks it will be completely ignored.

pass on that bet, but sometimes the weirdest s**t happens... you just never know...
