James Bond In Skyfall - - - - - Part 14

And I'm pretty sure you just irrationally feel slighted that a movie you enjoy is being criticized.

Similar to how you get when people insult Prometheus?

I'm not disagreeing that the third act is made for Connery's Bond, because the whole movie did a great job at recreating the feel of Fleming's books, and we know that Connery's movies were, for the most part, the most faithful to Flemming's books with the exception of a few Connery movies like YOLT and Diamonds are Forever. That is why I disagree that the third act didn't fit Craig's Bond. Like Connery, Craig's movies have done a good job at recreating the feel of Flemmings novel Bond and is actually closer to recreating the novel Bond character himself than Connery, as Bond is flawed and human, not the superhero that Connery became after Thunderball.

I definitely don't think a straight adaptation of a Flemming book will happen in theaters. I think for the most part, EON is past that. If anything, they may continue to take influences from Flemming's (and others) stories and use that for original stories.

Moonraker would be great, I think they wpuld possibly have to add a few more action pieces like they did with Casino Royale - however I wouldn't want it next due to the fact Skyfall spent alot of time in England and they'd def have to change the name as it would surely put alot of people off with memories of the OTT movie version

Yes not the next film but maybe a couple of films time. What would it be called though. Maybe name it after a chapter title like Zero Minus? But then people might think of Zero Dark Thirty with that title. Also Gala Brand is too good a Bond girl never to have been used.

Id actually quite like an adaptation of a non Flemming book - Ive forgotten which book it is, I think by Gardner, where Bond goes to a Texan ranch and the villain turns out to be
Dr. No's daughter

The only snag with Moonraker is the premise of a private individual supplying a nation state's nuclear defense capability is even less believable now than it would have been in the 1950s. And altering is all to cyber crime would be dull.

Maybe intercontinental missiles masquerading as space exploration would be feasible?

I wouldnt mind a MR adaption right after Skyfall...its not like people get mad that back to back Superman movies take place in Metropolis, plus they can just add/change some locations for the film.

But Gala Brand definitely needs to be in a Bond movie...especially with how her relationship with Bond ends.

MR easily works with DC because he gets pretty roughed up in the story for those who know. It also has one of the stronger first half in a Bond story. Bond at the office doing actual work "To those god wishes to destroy he sends boredom." How he's roped in with M to go to Blades because he needs something to do. How he falls into the plot with Drax. Plus you get to see Bond at home, we might finally get to see May, and Bond just driving up and getting a T time at one of the more exclusive clubs in all of England and how all the people know him there since he was a kid. There's a lot of personal space in Bond to be explored with MR.

With MR you get Bond staples, card game, car chase, close relation with villain, Bond does not get the girl, Bond gets pretty messed up.

At some point I'd want a film that's faithful to You Only Live Twice. It's my favorite of Fleming's novels and the Connery film just sodomized the material there.

Pardon my ignorance, but what's a Shatterhand?

Just finished this. Thought it was damn good, though not quite as good as Casino Royale. Loved the new take on Q, Dench was great as always and will be missed but she had a good run and Fiennes should be a pretty cool replacement.

Not familiar with the original novel, but I liked YOLT, besides the fact that Connery in disguise was probably the most improbable Asian man since Mickey Rooney in Breakfast at Tiffany's:woot:

The first segment of Fleming's Moonraker would be a very nice grounding for Fiennes' new M, and Bond getting to know him better. Considering Dench M said the service sold his old flat, we could see what he ended up purchasing afterwards. All in all, I think it would suit Craig well and in terms of following up Skyfall. I would like to see a big nuclear type grand scale plot too. Maybe not a direct translation of the book, but elements from it.

The novel was a direct follow up from On Her Majesty's Secret Service with Bond going to war with Blofeld (Shatterhand) in revenge for Tracy's death all the while going through an emotional rebirth.

Sounds pretty cool. I'd like to see that.
Thanks for the info:up:

The finale of Fleming's YOLT would be an ideal end point for Craig's Bond, and a good start point for a new Bond.
