James Bond In Skyfall - - - - Part 13

Sure, the winded and aging warrior may not work as well if you only limit Bond's career to Craig's tenure, but if you take it less literally and imagine Bond not as a character, but an Icon that has endured fifty years of cinema, it suddenly morphs into the profound. Skyfall would never have been as good as it was without it's half a century of cinematic baggage, good and bad.

Hmm, that's a very interesting way of putting it. Never thought of it that way before.

I'm no part of the elite.

I think it's best not to look at the time elapsed since QoS and Skyfall were made and automatically assume that the same passage of time has elapsed in Bond's world.

There are various clues in Skyfall which point to the filmakers expecting a certain acceptance on the audiences part that between CR/QoS and Skyfall, Craig's Bond has perhaps been on some if not all the missions that we've seen in the other movies, but it's very vague and loose. It doesnt make a lot of sense if you think about it logically [and literally] but if you go in remembering that the other movies always had some sort of loose continuity and that you just took it as red that Moore's Bond squared off against Dr.No and Brosnan squared off agaisnt Jaws then it's ok.

I go by game continuity also, for a little inbetween time. So, IMO, Craig's bond has gone through Casino, Quantum, Goldeneye Reloaded, Blood Stone, and Skyfall. I don't count legends cause A) that was mediocre and B) Craig didn't even give his voice talents.

If I were including the games I'd personally only include Blood Stone. I'm ok with including a whole new original adventure but not as easy with Goldeneye Reloaded given the strong ties to Brosnan's tenure.

Just becuase Craig didn't lend his voice to the game and for it being mediocre you're dismissing it as continuity?
It was Craig's likeness, and the game was like that for trying to tie in quickly with the 50th anniversary. Doesn't mean it should be disregarded.

But I do dimiss Legends as continuity...I feel it taking place in a seperate universe altogether. Regarded just as a cash in. Felix wasn't even black...and I doubt they won't get Jeffery Wright to play Felix again, at this point anyway.

Wow! 300 million domestically. Who would've predicted that at the beginning of the year. People were thinking that even 200 M would be difficult.

Well, also cause it's bar none one of the most mediocre games I've ever played, so.:o

Its not that he cared. He was probably just too busy doing whatever. Most likely some promotional tour crap.

I definitely consider Bloodstone canon with CR,QoS and SF. It genuinely feels like an EON production in video game form.

Didn't Craig do several Bond games previously before Skyfall? I know he did Goldeneye and Bloodstone at least. And also the QoS videogame right?

Definitely didn't expect Skyfall to be able to make $300 million domestic even after it was doing so well. I figured it would top out somewhere between $250-275 million. But the holidays definitely gave it a nice boost.

Also I'm sure Sony kept it in theaters longer so it would pass the $300 million mark since they saw it within reach.

Regardless pretty cool that Bond reached two huge milestones with this one movie with $300 million domestic and $1 billion worldwide.

That should give Craig a nice boost for the last two movies and hopefully he will get a fitting, dramatic sendoff. It feels like the Craig movies have finally hit their stride, or at the very least they might have peaked here. Skyfall will be a tough act to follow much like The Dark Knight, but hopefully like Dark Knight Rises we can get something almost as good.

Yeah, I'm with you. I greatly prefer the original stories like Everything or Nothing.

Though I'm over construction sites and especially levels with dams. I'd like to see some different scenery.

It seems with a China release, things are going to edited or removed. Not surprising, basically the norm now.

To anyone wondering what became of Mr. White, there was a scene of him being shot at Guy Haine's house that was supposed to end the film. It was removed. You can see a bit of the actual scene in this video starting at 1:15. Ignore the video game stuff before that. If the video says error occured it will have to be watched on youtube.

Yeah, I love the original Bond games. Everything or Nothing is another great under-appreciated one IMO. Nightfire is fun and memorable as well.

Well why couldn't we have gotten it in the film dangit! Would of been a great way to end the film, like how CR ended.

More reason to dislike the movie!

Meh, I was never happy with the QoS ending. Left too much on the table.

That's what sequels are far...til they decide not to follow it up lol

Well I mean all that stuff from QoS got left unresolved. They just moved because of the poor critical reception of the movie.

I quite like Agent Under Fire as well. I haven’t played it in a while and don’t think it’s up to the same standard of Nightfire, Everything or Nothing and Blood Stone. But I enjoy it. It has an unpretentious, fun feeling.

I've never played it. Heard it was basically a revamp of TND for the ps2. Is it?

Its kind of funny to see the films US total at JUST under $300M. Should reach it Friday.

I swear, China needs to stop doing this. It's just counter productive when any person in China can just download the uncut version.
