James Bond In Skyfall - Part 5

I really hope that this movie is as good as Casino Royale or at least much better than the last film.

I enjoyed Quantum of Solace but I thought Casino Royale has been the best Bond film to date

Craig has said he thinks Skyfall is better than CR so we'll see. I think it's a given it'll be better then QoS to say the least.

I don't mind QoS. It took a few risks. Some didn't pay off, some did. But I think Skyfall will be the true continuation of Casino Royale. Not narratively of course but in terms of style.

I enjoyed QoS. Not sure what everyone's issue with it was.

The editing style is one of the main complaints.

well they also had some production problems.. a writers strike, script was not really finished ... i think QoS isnt that bad.. the action sequences are pretty cool. Also the photography and production design is awesome i think.

but yeah the story is mediocre, the fast cutting is just meh..

also, has anyone recognized who often someone says to another person "GET IN" (the car) ...?? that happens a least 3 times..

Camille to Bond after the fight with Slate.
Bond to Fields after refusing to stay in the accommodation she booked.
Camille to Bond after escaping MI6 custody. "Are you gonna try and shoot me?"

The movie felt underwritten and obviously we know why now. But back then, it was still obvious.

QoS was far from perfect but I dont get the crap tht it gets. I enjoyed it, inspite of all it's faults.

The people that didn't see anything wrong with QoS I wonder if you've watched all of the previous 21 Bond movies.

I loved QoS for what it was, but it's not in my top 5 or even top 10 favorite Bond movies.

Oh i agree there is many things on fault for QOS all which we know. That doesnt mean there isnt some good parts out of the film. I know its weak film compared to others. But i still find a few scenes through the film i enjoy. I am sure that is how others are too.

QoS had a lot of trouble in production, mainly in the writing stage.

The Writer's Strike affected the movie greatly.

Yeah the writers strike certainly didn't do Quantum of Solace any favors

It's a bit of a mess, but I wouldn't throw out the baby with the bathwater. It has good turns from Daniel Craig and Giancarlo Giannini, and both of the girls are lovely. It's a decidedly mediocre Bond installment, but I don't think it could be considered among the truly bad.

Quantum of Solace isn't that bad, it was flawed but far from being a terrible movie. I think the biggest problem is it followed Casino Royale which was one of the Best Bond movies from over the last 20 years.

I wonder how QoS would've been received if it was the first in Craig's run, without the initial CR comparisons?

All the backlash from his initial casting would have been justified. That film didn't paint Craig in a great light. Any debut short of being spectacular, with all the negative attention he had going into it -- would have been a disaster.

We all know about the writers strike, but one of my issues still is how nothing is really expanded upon. There's not much sequel meat. We only get Mathis returning to be killed off almost instantly, a few references to Vesper by name and Bond confronting Yusef at the very end. I think as it stands QoS is an alright solo Bond movie. But not a good sequel. A film with a similar run time as CR with more focus on perhaps the operation Yusef and other agents were doing would've been better.

Two main parts which could have been affected by the strike was when Bond was driving Greene to the middle of the desert towards the end of the film. Persumably, Greene explained to Bond what Quantum was during the journey, but we the audience have no idea who they are or what they want. It's strange, especially with the history of Bond films where the villain explains his/her masterplan. The same with Yusef, we know he had a relationship with Vesper, but who is he?
