James Bond In Skyfall - Part 5

To be honest, I dont take the internet's critques of Moore seriously anymore.

Like you said, Moore's bond does some cruel **** in TSWLM. In fact, Moore's Bond does some cruel **** here and there throughout his run. People online try to make it sound like he's Inspector Clouseau (I'm not just saying that cause he was in a pink panther flick)

Yes and he beats up Maud Adams in MWTGG, I think the problem is that he's a horrible stunt fighter, he does not look credible in any of his fight scenes IMO, he just looks awkward and stilted.

Can't believe it took this long to be said. Absolutely. It's about the how not the what. Moore's as bad at being the badass as he is great at being the charmer.

I think Dalton is underrated in the "bad ass Bond" stakes. He had the look of a cold blooded killer. And he was a bit more surly than the others.

I think he looks more badass look now than he did back then.

He does some pretty badass stuff throughout, but the problem is some of the cheesier stuff he did for the later movies (specifically his last 2 movies) really hurt people's perception for him as Bond.

He should have left after For Your Eyes Only.

I think Octopussy is underrated in some aspects. The only truly stupid scene for me was the Tarzan yell. I thought the whole clown disguise worked because of the tension in the bomb scene. I think OP wouldve been a nice sendoff. Its a nice story with an age appropriate love interest

But he shouldve been gone by AVTAK for sure.

The thing I like about Moore's Bond is that the clowning is just a surface distraction that causes his enemies to dismiss him....until he turns the tables in the coldest ways possible.

Yup...it says something when you're a guy who makes a bunch of quips...and then shoot someone in the balls, or kick someone off a cliff when they're in a car.

That's a fair (and accurate) criticism for sure.

Yeah, watching Moore as Bond, his criticisms are pretty unfair. If he did leave after FYEO perhaps he wouldn't be recieving this criticism. For God sake TSWLM is one of the best Bond films.

People watching the Moore flicks should not be critiquing them on the grounds of grit. I watch his era as a loosened up adult, viewing it as the Adam West of Bond. I find them entertaining and I embrace the sillyness. Tarzan yells, slide whistles, lazer battles in space, the lot. If I want something else I'll put on early Connery, Dalton or Craig. TSWLM, Moonraker and Octopussy are my top films Moore wise. For me, Moore did an excellent job in his version of the character.

I wish more people would get that. It annoys me when people talk about Craig being the best (which I have no problem with), but mention the others are crap because they don't fight like Craig's Bond does, nor are they are gritty. I have to keep mentioning to them (even in this thread) that you can't judge older Bond movies with modern standards too much.

Has it occurred to you though that they just prefer the modern characterization and fighting style and therefore think the modern Bond is a better character?

The old movies are of their time and yes you can say that they are fine on their own standards, but if people are going to talk about which movies and portrayals they prefer they don't have to be so relativistic about it.

I like Sean Connery's Bond, but I prefer Craig and his films.

I think we are thinking too much modernists when it comes to the Moore films. Sure they're aren't (most anyway) as classic the Connery films but they're just products of their time. Some will date, and some will transcend time but don't hold it against Moore!

Following the other day's reveal of the first photos of Javier Bardem as his still-mysterious Skyfall comes a new set of photos that reveal a very familiar James Bond vehicle: 007's classic Aston Martin.

In the photos below, you can also see Daniel Craig on the English set and a location that is rumored to be the villain's base of operations, nicknamed "Skyfall Lodge".

A list of the characters names in the movie has leaked to the MI6 forums:

Wonder who [blackout]...B..[/blackout] is?

wait, Q is missing from the list and 'Bodyguard' was misspelled.

At the same time, the list has listings that doesn't seem fanboyish to me.

Seems like Bill Tanner is gonna get more screen time in Skyfall than any other Bond movie so far.

But how is Boothroyd a code name when it's his last name? Unless he got promoted from 'B' to 'Q.'

My guess is that the call-sheet is trying to keep the Q character a secret.

Didn't they announce that Q was in the film though when the actor was announced?

Also these sheets are made for the production and not attended for the public so it would weird to keep it secret even within the production.

It was Ben Wishaws agent who leaked that he was playing Q. I don't think it was ever meant to be known that early. And maybe they accounted for the risk that the sheet would leak when they made it.

Just speculating here.

They know Q is out there, though. How could they not? I mean, it's not like it's a rumor. Wishaw's people confirmed it to the press. Seems silly to try and keep it under wraps now.
