James Bond In Skyfall - Part 6

About his attire and set look

" Guarding the entrance of Skyfall's Golden Dragon Casino, are a pair of gigantic Chinese dragon heads, lion-mouths petrified into a permanent roar, eyes popping wildly...Standing aboard a small boat, punted gently through the archway, between the dragons and toward the steps is Daniel Craig as 007: tight lips pensive, blue eyes wary and glistening hard.

"A Tom Ford Tuxedo is pulled taut over Craig's honed frame. Its small lapels and '60's line subtly recall the character's mythic-historical homeland. His hair, once such a source of Bond-not-blonde fan outrage, is cropped short and immaculate. The fireworks crackle behind him, but his attention never wavers, concentrating hard on the task in hand, on the meeting that awaits him ahead, within."

"Bond's mission has taken him to Shanghai first, and there he gets a lead that the person he is looking for is in Macau. He has one slender lead and it takes him to a casino on a lake. Its a very transitional piece you're seeing tonight. It's just an arrival."

Empire nips inside a dark Gazebo where a huge plasma high-def screen monitor displays the view through Deakins' lens, as Bond stands at the entrance to the Casino, dead centre: "This is definitely the best-looking, most painterly few seconds of Bond that Empire has ever seen."

"Bond is back from the dead" , casino creator Dennis Gassner says, somewhat cryptically. He adds "This whole film is about illusion."

Empire makes an educated guess, from what they have seen during various set visits in February and April, that "Silva's MO has something to do with computers and the control of information".

Lastly, Mendes assures us that Skyfall will see 007 "physically pushing himself".

Thanks for that. Silva sounds like a proper version of Carver. If I'm right, I'd love that because the concept of information handling, altering etc is a favorite of mine.

Seriously, I can't get over how good this pic is. I'm geeking out here.

Skyfall is going to be well worth the wait.

The cinematography in this movie is surreal. There are so few Bond films that actually feel and look cinematic that I can't believe what I'm seeing here.

I agree. It all looks very iconic looking. Might be one of the best looking Bond movies in years.

Yeah, looks like it. I mean, CR looked fantastic, but this looks like it's gonna be on a whole new level. And the funniest part is that there are many movies out there who look equally good. Makes me sad for this franchise when I'm partying for an installment that looks like an actual movie instead of a high-budget TV movie. Bless Mendes and Deakins.

There's a level of art in terms of aesthetically pleasing visuals in Deakin's work.

At the very least Skyfall is going to be a pleasure to look at.

Thanks for the pic Ajendo.

Is it bad that I only really care about this film because of the "Skyfall" title?

I'm a fan of bond, but only passingly. When I heard the title, I immediately stole the name to use for my art project about clouds.

The film drops in November, which is when I celebrate my art projects, so that's a bonus.

I'm a big Bond fan but I've only been keeping up with Skyfall minimally.

Don't know why but I can say everything I see about the film I'm really loving.

I don't think there's anything about this film that I haven't less than loved so far.

The film is looking better with each bit of info and pic we get, can't wait to see the first trailer.

^ Correctamundo! But I'd rather wait the weekend for it to come online on monday instead of watching that atrocity just for this trailer hehe

yeah, I'll wait for it online unless someone is going to pay for me to see MiB III.

Should be fun, I wonder if the teaser description from months ago will be true.

These recent comments by Craig and Brocolli excite me even more:

“You have to have a script that has the bones of comedy,” Craig tells us. “Comedy in Bond films, for me, comes out of the situations people get into. They're exciting, and hopefully heart-stopping, and the comedy comes out of one-liners and things. When Sam [Mendes] came in, it was key for all of us that there's a lightness of touch in the writing that's not been as evident in the past two.”

Producer Barbara Broccoli agrees. “It's got those situations where you think, 'You could only see this in a Bond movie,'” she adds. “That's where the wit comes into it.”

“We've all been working for at least two years, in some aspect of tossing ideas around, which you need to start playing around with those things, because you can't make them up on the day.”

That's a sick cover. It should've been Dalton covering Daniel Craig's crotch though.

If EON can lock Mendes or Deakin for a few movies that would be great.
