James Bond In Skyfall - Part 7

That ending is from No Country For Old Men. Pretty sure it was a joke, and what does the 50th anniversary have to do with it?

It's Bond's 50th anniversary. They won't have a downbeat ending.

I can't wait for the 50th anniversary. Craig's bond is rumored to regenerate

;)

Since its 50th anni I am sure folks think it will be of a more classic type of bond film.

who was the feme fetale in what was surely the best shot of the trailer?

I'm of the opinion that the movie will end with the shot of Bond on the roof, overlooking the London skyline with the British flag in the background.

Still don't see why this film has to catter to that or why it should even effect the films story or script. Maybe use it in the marketing but beyond that it shouldn't have a thing to do with how the film plays out. This film needs to go where the story requires 50th anniversary be damned. Pigeonholing the film's story and beats because of an anniversary is stupid.

That's because he doesn't recognise its merit, because it's not his typical type of film. It's more like a Tom Clancy thriller where you'd get someone like Harrison Ford in the lead role. Eastwood isn't as tough as he normally is but is more human and gets nervous etc. So it's a departure from his usual cop films or westerns, but that's why it is good. It's actually a little like a Bond movie too - maybe similar to Goldeneye in some respects.

Eastwood directed the film. So, I'm sure he's aware of the merits. He just isn't entirely satisfied with the end result. It was a big Hollywood blockbuster which was new territory for him as a filmmaker.

Yeah that sounds like a good ending, do you think any Americans would cry about an ending like that?

It'll end with Bond being presented with a big cake in the shape of the 007 logo.

Maybe it will end with Berenice Marlohe wrapped in the British flag wearing nothing else. ;)

Yeah, I knew he directed the film, but it's not really his type of film. He tends to shy away from these blockbusters. I think the film is underrated.

It could've been a Bond plot... almost.

Doubt it. Look at how many fi have the US flag paraded all over the place. Hell, remember the ending to spider-man and then there's captain America who's costume is the US flag. Bond maybe a British agent and an Englishman but you'll never catch him wearing an English flag or Union jack themed underwear. That being said, SF ending with the Union Jack showing as Bond looks on from the rooftops would be perfect.

Or she takes her dress off, to reveal a Union Jack thong. The camera zooms in on her crotch, until the whole screen is the British flag. Then "Land of Hope and Glory" plays. Not a dry eye left in the crowd. Beautiful.

Works for me. :oldrazz:

I thought it was a little odd Bond said his English instead of British in the Skyfall trailer when his parents are Swiss/Scottish in the books and movies I believe.

I guess he was proabably born or raised in England though which is why he might say that.

Ultimately it doesn't matter its all semantics.

Yeah, you are completely correct about that and it is odd. It was a major point of discussion on the commanderbond.net boards considering some spoilers that have come out. I'm not sure how up-to-date these boards are on the Skyfall leaks/spoilers, so be warned about what I type in the below.

It is confirmed that Bond's parentage is Scottish/Swiss in Skyfall. Bond and M appear to flee to his family estate in Scotland in the film's third act. Outside the manor house is a small graveyard with a tombstone for Bond's parents. Their names are as they are in the books.

Christian Bale says he's English all the time and he was born in Wales. Bond was probably born in England so it does not matter where his parents are from...

I still think it will end on a more happier note then a somber one.

Lol only some hillbilly would do that. We all know Bond is British and we love him anyway.

That's a parachute not underwear and I'd also like to mention that shot is the culmination of one of the best scenes in cinema history.

That's in answer to your previous post, which of course depends on how one reads it. I'm guessing you actually meant that Bond hasn't worn an English flag underwear nor a union jack underwear. But it can be read that Bond hasn't worn:

a) an English flag
b) Union Jack underwear.

And if it's read that way, then he was worn an English flag in a sense (although it's not the St George's cross) since he wore a parachute which was in the design of a flag.

That's the British flag not the English one but I suppose you know that since you mentioned the St George's Cross....
