James Bond In Skyfall - Part 7

It certainly isn't catchy and is more then a bit convoluted.

Entirely subjective. Personally, I think it's a title that stands out.

The title Quantum of Solace is the best thing about the film Quantum of Solace. Too bad the rest of the film didn't live up to its name.

Wold have to disagree there - for all it's faults [and there were faults] I still enjoyed it.

"Nicy try"? Do you think I'm just making things up, to convince you?

What I told you IS my actual opinion, and nothing else.

:funny:

Bond's line at the hotel is better then the title, along with many other things including Mathis, M, Camille, and Bond's confrontation at the end of the film. Good to mediocre movie, but bad title.

Erm, this is a discussion forum?

You told me why you dont like it and responded by telling you why I did. Dont know why you're making such a big deal out of it.

The same people who knew Mark Gatiss of League of Gentlemen was a fantastic writer also?

I'm a big fan of his Lucifer Box movies its a shame the BBC never took up the chance to make them into movies or a tv show.

Skyfall is still a bad name. They could have gone with Shatterhand, Risico, Beyond The Ice or anything.

Even EoN - Everything or Nothing - would have been better.

Maybe the film does not have any of those titles because they have nothing to do with the story and Skyfall does. You can't call the film Shatterhand after the villain if the villain is not called Shatterhand...:whatever:

Shatterhand sounds like a film about someone having an unfortunate toilet accident. ;)

Beyond the Ice is a bad name. It always has been. It's the title that kept resurfacing during the Brosnan years, especially leading up to Die Another Day.

Exactly. I don't know why some people find this so hard to understand.

Well, they could have decided to use Shatterhand as a code name for the villain in the early stages of script writing.
What I don't understand is why they don't use as much from the Fleming books as possible.

Because forcing in the random bits from whats left just so you can use a title from the bottom of the barrel is pretty much the antithesis of good storytelling.

Then Casino Royale must have been a h*ll of forced storytelling, because they used very much from the book.
And with Quantum of Solace, they forced in a company that was called Quantum.

Eh? I don't understand what you just said about Casino Royale?...

Not sure if Airwings is serious.....

Skyfall is a great name because it's most likely going to be the name of an operation, like Thunderball, which I'm surprised no one mentioned the name Thunderball (and how that name literally makes no sense) during the name discussion yet. Still, it's a fine name for a movie.

And according to others rumors is supposed to be about Bond looking for a downed satellite with key British intel, so the name makes even more sense.

Not every Fleming name needs to be used. You don't see the title of every novel in general being used in movies.

Totally the new has to fit with story or something for film. And what's the point in taking a title from a fleming/other bond author book if its just the name. Plus out of the regularr fleming books haven't they used all the official fleming bond book titles?

They used all of the novel names, it's just the short story names that are remaining.

By the way, I found this video on line. It's a trailer of Casino Royale in the style of the Skyfall trailer. It's really good and very well done. It could be a trailer played in theaters.

Craig is a different continuity than the Connery-Brosnan movies, but I should believe he's established now. The beginning of his career is over.

Too serious, where's the humour. It does not look like a Bond film to me....:cwink:

(seriously though that CR trailer is awesome) :007

It's not a bad fan trailer at all. The one thing that stands out is how slick Roger Deakins' look is for Skyfall. It really makes the Skyfall teaser work, especially with that awesome music. That CR mashup just doesn't have it.
