What's funny is that the only way Rhino is ever defeated is by Spider-man leaping out of the way of Rhino's charge so that the big guy runs into something and is electrocuted.

Brings back memories of Spider-Man for the ps1.:woot:

So the ending will be(if Rhino isn't some cameo villain) Rhino charging at Spidey, Spidey jumps in the air, Rhino stabs Electro who was behind Spidey and the electricity also kills Rhino. Lol.

Awesome, I love my movies to be just like video games.

In his first appearance, Spidey actually either invents a webbing that dissolves his suit or pummels him into submission, so...

This is not the Raimi series, they won't die. :o:oldrazz:
But I can definitely see that happening minus the deaths.

I can definitely see Spider-Man using them against each other in some way though.

Well, if they truly try to map out a giant Spider-Man universe, it would be foolish to kill off their enemies quickly. I really hope that they'll create the Vault, to house all the super criminals and we'll eventually get the Sinister Six.

I don't believe the idea of Webb mapping out an universe until the sequel comes out. If both Rhino and Electro survive, then I'll start to believe it.

He already tweeted "Think bigger..." so yes, he is making a universe.

Bigger isn't always better.

He needs to concentrate on making a solid film with characters that are consistent, complete story arcs and an emotionally pleasing story first and foremost. World building and "thinking bigger" should be in the peripherals.

Well we don't know if he is making a cinematic universe or not. But whatever he meant is that he is planning something big. That could simply mean a lead up to the sinister six, a venom film, or whatever. We don't know. Let's take it one movie at a time.

I'm still not getting this whole "Spider-Man Universe" thing.

Having villains survive and appear in possible sequels does not equal a film "universe". To call it a universe, these films would need to be leading up to some kind of Avengers type of team up film. To show a much larger picture...or universe. :oldrazz:

I'm not knocking this film like some people are, I'm really looking forward to it, especially since the unneeded retelling of the origin is out of the way. The only thing I can think of, which others have also mentioned, is a lead up to some kind of Sinister Six film.

If you want to believe a tweet, then sure. I'll choose to still wait, because even as a tweet, I still believe no such thing of a "universe" being created for Spider-Man.

And besides...isn't Iron Man part of a bigger universe? Didn't Stane and Vanko die? So...what's the part in the tweet that proves that villains will survive?

Perhaps the team-up in this case is the sinister six. The MCU films lead up to an Avengers film, so maybe here its the villains getting together and not the heroes.

Though I would like him to reboot Venom right. And somewhere down the line have him and Spidey reluctantly team up. Don't have to fight Carnage, but just see an evolution of the character.

at the end of the day guys, TASM was made to retain the rights. Spider-man 4 wasn't made because of the budget it would have required, and probably other factors concerning raimi and the negative reaction to spider-man 3.

you only need to listen to arad on the tasm commentary to see that he is the most stereotypical producer out there; doesn't understand film as an art form, is only interested in making a profit, and overall isn't that bright.

so, will sony try and capitalise on the success of other comic book movies? team ups are a big deal since the avengers. but oh wait, they only have spider-man. oh wait again, they could do spidey vs. the sinister 6, and market it as a team up movie, except it is the flip side of the coin, so to speak.

sony isn't the most financially successful company of recent years and spider-man is essentially their golden ticket. they played it safe with tasm, they even retold the origin story instead of finding an original way of starting a new continuity with peter being spider-man at the beginning of the film.

i even remember, a while before the movie came out, arad spun some utter BS about this spider-man not being a reboot, and that it was just the stories he went through before graduating high school. he said it to appease people who liked the raimi films.

people should be glad webb is there. he strikes me as someone who cares about the characters. is he the most competent action director? hardly. but there was potential in tasm1, and he likely learned a lot.

if the sinister six happens, it will be because of people like ari, who want as much money as possible. sony almost lost spider-man after number 3; they are trying to make this new "universe" sustainable for decades to come. i highly doubt webb will stick around once this "untold story" is told in full.

Webb is probably the only reason why this franchise has any hope. I think he did a fantastic job with the first movie, and will hopefully do well with the sequel. Just because Sony is after money, doesn't mean the movies will suck. I mean, isn't every Hollywood Studio film made for the same reasons? If they do try and make a sinister six film, that would be awesome (as long as it was done well).

Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone is this franchise's hope, not Marc Webb, imo.

yeah, how much of a blessing is it that they cast andrew. imagine if they casted that kid from the hunger games or percy jackson. *shudders*

Only one film makes you think this? Lol.
1 film where the main villain and the 2 human right hand men live vs 3 films where 3 of the 4 main villains and 1 of the anti-heroes die? Yes.

Killing villians is mot franchise friendly and that's what Sony is after to keep Spider-Man as their cash cow in the comic movie genre.

am I the only one who suspects that Spider-Man is now in fact connected with MCU? The guy said "he's making a massive Spider-Man universe" and Marc Webb responds "think bigger..."

and still you are talking about only a Spider-Man universe, I don't get it

I just don't want to get my hopes up too much.

too much legal mumbo jumbo in the way of making spider-man part of the avengers. i highly doubt it will happen.
