The Amazing Spider-Man 2 Jamie Foxx IS Electro - Part 4

So you guys think Spider-Man as a character is cliche, why are you on these boards again

Explain to us how he isn't?

His school boyish haircut, invisibility to women, his soft spoken voice, his passiveness, winning the science award, taking photos for the school newspaper?

Individually these are irrelevant. Any non-nerdy person can be any few of those, however collectively it's safe to say these count as visual storytelling cues as well. I believe that is what Green Goblin was referring to, Vid.

Imo, you can't really compare Raimi's 'nerdy' Peter Parker with Webb's 'nerdy' Max Dillon. I agree that Raimi characterized Peter Parker in a way that was stereotypical, old fashioned, and a bit cliche, but Webb's Dillon (at least visually) is a very clearly overblown and exaggerated caricature of a nerd with an overall design that makes him look like he was pulled right out of an SNL comedy sketch. Not saying its good or bad though. How that approach to the character will come across on the big screen, remains to be seen.

I was never comparing the two. All I'm saying is that it's a similar example to how there are "visual storytelling cues" for each of the characters, not similarities in the characters.

I've known people who look pretty nerdy, so Max's look is entirely unbelievably to me. Also, just because he looks nerdy doesn't mean that he'll be portrayed that way. He may be portrayed as awkward, anti-social, and maybe kind of creepy with his SM obsession.

I'm liking the approach to this villian.

He's the invisible nerdy guy who when saved and treated nicely by Spidey comes to think of him unrealisticly as a "friend" and generally the only person whose paid attention to him.

Then when he becomes Electro he somehow comes to hate Spidey and want to kill him.

I'm betting when his powers manifest he accidently hurts people around him, que Spidey coming in to stop him and most likely fighting him. Dillon feels betrayed and decides that with his new found power he can be someone people see and notice and decides to go after his former "friend"

I'm excited to see how it plays out.

Hate when people say it isn't comics accurate when it is... Just not the comic they're thinking of.

yeah, well there isn't really that much stuff in comics they could play with concerning Electro. He was just the guy who robbed banks with his electric powers and later he was given some depth by showing he had always been a loser punk, but that's about it

I trust in the direction they are taking. If it fails, I can always complain later, but for now I'll rather be optimistic

Jamie Foxx to be a guest on Katie show today on ABC7.

I just thought about something: If Electro can disappear into power sockets like Webb said, what about the suit? it doesn't really look like it could disappear with him

When he did that in the comics, his clothes disappeared with him.

Everything has electrons and what not embedded in them, not just living tissue,

I'd like to see him all glowing and naked like the comics. Just hide his junk somehow

Jajaja that reminded me og
"now i am a beeing of pure energy"
-"Without pants"

I really hope Spidey pokes fun at Electro. There's so much potential. In Ultimate Spider-man (comics) the parts where he mocks Electro are great.

That's probably what they will do. BTW, that Electro looks so much cooler than a thug in a stupid-looking green & yellow costume.

I anticipate a good Electro/Spidey fight.

In terms of a pure one-on-one, nothing has beaten the Spidey/Goblin finale in SM 2002. When Goblin says "you've spun your last web, Spider-Man" you believe it. Peter is down. And this brought out as key component as to why I like the character so much. He has powers and they prove useful, but Goblin and other villains can still be a tough ask for him, and usually are stronger. Peter has to dig deep and not just use his fists.

Love that fight. I think we all do. Watching that at 10 yrs old to now, it still feels cool. Good points.
To add, no CGI makes it awesome. We HAVE to get more of that in the sequel. I think we will according to the stunt coordinators.

They could have done a lot more with the Lizard if they didn't make him talk... Just have him terrorize as a beast, show the brutality. Give him a snout and have him bite, claw and hiss at Spidey. If he had been more animalistic and less of a cliche turn NYC into lizards Saturday morning cartoon villain, more people would have loved TASM. Biggest gripe of the movie, they had so much potential with it... Spider-Man's villain track record has been terrible... Doc seems to be the only villain who doesn't get ripped to shreds during superhero villain comparisons. Even he had his problems with being "Saturday morning cartoonish". Overall still the best villain IMO in the Spider-Man Raimi/Webbiverse yet still I'd only give him a 6/10 at best. Haven't been pleased with the villains, hopefully Webb can change that for me.
