The Amazing Spider-Man 2 Jamie Foxx IS Electro - Part 4

He definitely resembles the Ultimate and animated versions now.

He'll probably have many of the same powers as well, not just shooting electric bolts out of his hands.

TASM2 Electro seems to bear more of a resemblance to Cardiac than any version of Electro (616, Ultimate, etc...):

Kinda weird...

By scrolling down for the next picture after that post, I just realized, Garfield has no ass lol

God I love that photo of them two. I'm debating getting a canvas print of it, in a more landscape layout and putting it in my room. I'm just really satisfied with Electro's design and aesthetic. (From that angle at least)

Are his fingers burning through the tips of his gloves or are they supposed to be like that for his attacks and whatnot.

Good question. But I think there just burning through the tips of his glove, but I guess no one knows for sure.

I think yes. And it's probably also a part of the electricity flowing inside him.

I like it. I also like the cauliflower'd/burnt looking ear as well. Burning the extremities, seems logical.

Bump!

Who else was expecting electro's attacks to look different? I thought he'd shoot lightning from his hands (a more grounded take, excuse the pun) as opposed to the purple-y energy blasts the trailer shows.

don't get me wrong, he looks great, ditto his attacks, but the latter's aesthetic surprised me.

I think his attacks will come from his hands later throughout his transformation. After he gets his suit, it looks like he has gloves that enable him to focus his electric outputs

Why do I love that small shot of him subtlety flicking his fingers with that emotional face he's wearing in the trailer?

yeah, i think i phrased things poorly. i know he shoots stuff from his hands (we see it in the trailer), but i wasn't expecting it to look the way it did (i was expecting the effects to look more like traditional lightning)

Well, Electro seems to be evolving into a being of pure energy, so I like how the electricity is portrayed in that regard. Also, apparently he can teleport as well. It seems that he royally messes up Times Square.

Oh ok yeah I get what you mean. That's actually what I was expecting too. From what we've seen it does look a little more like a general expenditure of energy or something, not strictly 'lightning bolts'

yeah, i think he trashes it a decent amount even before spider-man arrives. i think it might be the action scene i am looking forward to the most; it's a big open space with lots of possibilities. plus, it's such a great location to have an action scene.

Same. That was actually surprisingly my favorite shot from the whole trailer. I actually brought that scene up in another thread, saying how I thought his expression was chilling, his apathy -- as someone else put it -- about the damage and harm he's causing (potentially life he's taking). Says a lot about where his character might go/end up, psychologically... Pretty frightening

A Times Square action sequence is pure gold... Hard to believe it took 5 films to get one

I've gotta say, I thought Jamie Foxx was a terrible idea for Electro, but damn, the trailer's proving me wrong. Definitely menacing and serious.

i'm hoping that we are invested in the bullied and shunned max enough so that when he finally starts zapping people in times square, we feel somewhat cathartic.

not that i condone shooting innocent civilians with electric bolts or anything.

I wonder that too, the trailer seems to imply that there's an element of tragedy that gives rise to Electro. Which makes me wonder how he went from a Spider-Man fan to a villain who wants him gone (maybe Spider-Man's responsible for Electro's birth, unless comic-con said otherwise)?

i think the simple fact that spider-man engages him at times square will send him over the edge. he may identify himself as max and spider-man replies "who?", which makes max snap.

from set pics and videos from earlier in the year, max is wandering around times square in pain, which likely eventually leads to an accidental expenditure of energy that makes everyone freak the hell out. the cops arrive, but to no avail. max is like a wounded animal at this point. how this accident occurs is not clear, but in the comic con footage you can see max wander in front of an oncoming bus.

all the commotion leads to spider-man arriving on the scene. max realises that he is there to stop him, not to help him, and this betrayal is the straw that breaks the camel's back. electro is born. and he's pissed.

the success of electro will depend greatly on painting max as sympathetic prior to his accident, and making spider-man's perceived betrayal something audiences can empathise with. also, they'll have to be careful not to make spider-man come across as the bad guy when meeting electro at times square for the first time. if he forgets who max is, hopefully it is justified, and not simply because spidey thinks he's the cat's pyjamas (i think peter is genuine when he saves max on the street, he just has a lot on his plate so naturally forgets who he is by the time times square happens - plus he looks different haha)

of course, spider-man might remember max, but nevertheless try and aid local authorities, which is seen as a betrayal by the former.
