The Amazing Spider-Man Jamie Foxx IS Electro

Masse looks like he could be a great Norman. Not overly recognizable.

I thought Rhys Ifans said in an interview that the figure in the post-credits scene was definitely not Norman, but maybe that was just misdirection.

He was def lying.

It won't be in this. Electro could be bad*** if done right. He won't have the classic design. I'm hoping for lots of burn scars.

Agreed.

The burned look from USM is better than the cheesy green and yellow suit.

Now I wouldn't mind some green and/or yellow incorporated into his gear but not as the main color scheme.

After seeing the villian in Skyfall and before that, TDK, if we get a chessy cliche ridden spandex wearing idiot I will be very disappointed. I wanted something smart and sophisticated who is a geniune threat and whom you count the minutes when he isn't on screen. Spidey deserves no less.

Hoping to see what both of you said SpideyFan866 and SoNicRaDiATioN

You can be creavtive, for instance you could give him a classly suit with a nice shade of green and a yellow tie. This incorparates Electro's colours but gives him an air of sophistication.

I thought the casting of Foxx clarified that Massee wasn't Electro in the post-credits scene.

Not only does he sound like Norman, he looks like him too.

Not only that.

Him being "The Man in the Shadows" is derivative of the comics.

In the comics, before he was revealed as GG, Norman was, more or less "The Man in the Shadows".

When he was shown outside of his Goblin costume, it was only in a trench coat and hat and his face was never shown.

Sound familiar?

This was discussed in these thread before. People seem to forget.

The way the scene happened:
*Lightning* Guy in shadow appears in cell
*Lightning* Guy in shadow is gone

Doesn't sound Norman like

The lightning intro/exit always read like theatricality to me.

I never got the Electro vibe. The moment I heard the voice I knew Norman finally revealed himself.

I think that was just done for dramatic effect.

The lightning was more so showing jumps and time/the scene. It wasn't him teleporting.

This got me thinking of Nostalgia Critic review of Judge Dredd, the scene about Lightning

I agree. I think the fact that Massee isn't as well known as all the other actors and that he was never officially announced as Gobby is what keeps throwing people off to the point of deeming him a "stand-in" for Electro.

I remember when Phantom Menace came out, so many discussions erupted about Sidious not being Palpatine despite looking like him & sounding like him. The fact that McDiarmid wasn't credited as Sidious added more fuel to the fire.

Similar situation here.

Exactly.

I'm expecting a psychological complexity from this character. And Webb's comments about Foxx being a great "character actor" gives me confidence he is heading in this direction. That's the key element for me, sophistication in the writing. Whether the character is portrayed as sophisticated is something different, although a possibility.

DeMatties style for the way Electro is written, huh?

OR, it could be a figment of Conners imagination with the Lizard still in his head, like what if he was scared of Norman so in HIS HEAD he saw him there.

I've heard this theory a lot and I think it's less likely than it being Electro.

Can I just say that that after credits scene is the worst after credits scene ever and worse they put the scene in the trailer.

No not really, it got people excited and wondering who he is, adding to that "mysterious" man in the shadows asking in that creepy/cool voice "Did you tell the boy about his Father?".

But as a post credits scene, bad move to add that in the trailer...
They could have added like Conner's pre-transformation snippet to fill that up.

Heck "wonderful things are coming" would have been awesome there, creepy too.

I liked the scene alot. The whole movie Osborn kept being talked about. It was nice to see a reveal in the very end. It also does a good job preparing you for what's to come.

I agree that it never shoulda been in the trailer.

I'll tell you what would have been a better after credits scene.

Someone in a dimly lit room (so you can't see the person too clearly) is watching footage from the secret spider room as all the spiders descend on Peter. End scene.

Simple.

I agree on both accounts.

IMO, if they had placed it in the film itself like right after the Peter/Gwen breakup then it wouldve worked better.

There's just not enough to it to get people excited.

Having as a end of the movie cliffhanger as opposed a mid credits scene would've made it much more effective.
