Jared Leto IS The Joker - Part 1

Maybe is the shadow that the artist wanted or am I seeing black suit with purple sleeves?

Actually yeah I can see it on the upper arm. The way I had my monitor tilted kind of obscured it. For a minute I thought it was a black jacket wearing Joker, and that is not an ideal look. It's purple suit or nothing.

Oh... The overreaction. Where was it stated they were SHALLOW, full stop? Re-read the post. "They are MORE shallow than fans will ever admit" isn't calling them dumb or lacking ANY merit. But... No. They aren't nearly as complex or mature or intellectual heft as many claim. If anything, the "subtext" is undermined by the BS, consequence free third option, idealized solution in TDK, and the Cliff's Notes Libertarianism of TWS is itself problematic but using it as some kind of legitimate critique of the current state of the U.S. seems a stretch at best. Does that make these films's "BAD"? No. Overrated and "more shallow" than most defenders will ever admit to? I would say that's on point.

Who gives a **** if superhero films are "shallow". The only people who care are the fans of the comics who desperately want the thing they like to be validated and taken seriously. Why? Insecurity.

They are summer blockbusters. That is all they are. If they have some interesting themes then that's cool. But if they don't? That's cool too. As long as they are well made in "summer blockbuster" terms.

I don't remember Jaws or Raiders of the Lost Ark or Star Wars or Back to the Future having sociopolitical themes etc. I also don't remember the fans of those movies screaming for validation and to be taken seriously. It's sad. Fanatics of Nolan's Bat films are the worst culprits. They think their films are high art and they want everyone else to think they are. Sorry... they're not. They are summer blockbusters about a vigilante who dresses like a ****ing Bat.

Superhero movies are serious business.

Any man who runs around in underwear and saves people is worthy to be taken seriously

Speak with my hand. I'm hurt :o That gif was the best one ever made :o

My goodness but this thread has taken a bit of a nasty turn... and while I'm inclined to bury ceasar, enjoy instead a Joker look that might well suit Leto:

That's a concern of mine in that pic.

The Joker's crazy facial expressions are undoubtedly unmatched with any other character. Jack and Heath both had a lot of wacky character to the design of their faces.
And since we don't want the perma smile to return, and we don't want Heath's cleverly and disturbing face paint to return, where do we go from here?

Jared is so baby faced, as we know, and to him just how he is, it would be very underwhelming. That's why I'm a fan of getting the prosthetics to mold his face to more like that of the Joker. If there's to be no perma or glasgow smile returning, then it would at least add all the character it could to him. I think all the can do now with the smile to make it different, is to make it as wide and pulled back as possible, without making it too much like Jack's.

I didn't mean to suggest Leto in a wig and makeup; there's obviously angularities in that pic that would necessitate some prosthetics. But having said that, the thought occurred to me that a normal'ish looking Joker could be interesting... IF when he cracks the smile it alters his visage in a totally creep out way.

Leto already looks kinda Rocky Horror-ish without the getup.

When he's got zero weight on, he's at his creepiest and most Joker like.

I need this on screen. I need this level of horror from the Joker.

I think Jack nailed the theatrical aspect of Joker, especially in the parade money scene.

The mouth perhaps, but I like the creases and look of evil in his face. Simple, but effective.

I disagree.

I honestly don't know what people what from this.

Not hair like that. But I like how the sledgehammer is resting on Harley's butt.
