Jared Leto "talks" Batman

With three words, Jared Leto has stirred up DC Comics movie fans. Leto is cast to play The Joker in the upcoming Suicide Squad movie, and he appears to already be getting into character for the role.
On Vyrt, a fan told Leto, “You’re reminding me of Batman, unseen hero!” Leto replied, “Batman is dead.”
Of course, Leto was probably just having a little fun, implying perhaps that his character Joker would kill Batman. However, it also left some fans wondering if Leto might have just let a detail slip out about the DC Cinematic Universe.
Could it be that Batman dies or is believed to be dead after Batman V. Superman: Dawn of Justice? In the Suicide Squad movie, could The Joker and the rest of the world think Batman is dead?
Probably not, as the comment seems more like just an offhanded joke. Regardless, it's certainly cool to see Leto teasing his upcoming role in a fun way.

I personally don't think he would say THAT SPOILER... HE'S just having fun and ya know entering in the character! :D

I think there's something to it. It make perfect sense to kill off the most popular fictional character of all time.

Fans sure do love to over analyze every ****ing detail about anything anyone says. Anyways, I cannot wait to see the inevitable Joker/Batman confrontation in this DCCU!

I think it's so funny how a weirdo actor saying something off the cuff is taken so seriously by fans. Stop taking everything actors say seriously.

I'm not even sure what it was that was said. Some of the grammar and wording just sounds like a really bad translation from some foreign news source.

Still don't make sense. " You remind me of Batman, unseen hero" makes little sense, as does the response of "Batman is dead". Again, sounds like the source in the link is from a badly translated, non-English language news source.

That depends on how you see it (specially the response). I cannot say you're wrong nor you're right tho, I have only seen it on there...

Indeed - The Earth One version of Alfred can take Batman's place alongside Superman. He'll really take care of business like lightning. :hehe:

The Joker doesn't want to kill Batman, he wants to play with him. He just happens to use guns, knives, explosives and toxins as his toys. I wouldn't say no to a scene where Joker has Batman on his knees and defeated. Yet he declines to deliver the coup de grace. "You're just too much fun, Batsy."

"Batman is dead"

Let the chaos and crazy speculation commence. I like Leto already. He's trolling us the way the Joker would. Messing with our heads.

JARED LETO ‏@JaredLeto 14 min I'm all ears. #snapchat #findme

He's practicing his Joker painting :o

He doesn't pull off the Jesus look nearly as well as Christian Bale.

But they all fall before the Biblical awesomness that was Charlton Heston.

Since the rumours say the solo Batman Movie being based on The Dark Knight Returns, do you think we'll get Thin White Duke style Joker, in the white suit/tux?

It would seem like a missed opportunity if they don't implement it in some fashion. Leto's a real life rockstar. While we've always had a spotlight stealing Joker, we haven't had one who is primarily a conventional showman.

The idea of following Heath Ledger's performance is so ballsy and crazy, I can't think of anyone more nuts to do it (and actually pull it off) than this guy. I'm so ecstatic about it. :woo:
