Jared Leto IS The Joker - Part 1

A lot of people I know underestimate Jared Leto's fandom power, since 30 Seconds To Mars has garned him an army of fangirls, which is smart for Warner Bros. business rise.

Yeah, it's interesting to consider that Jared Leto is still arguably a musician who dabbles in acting. Quite impressive to think about the number of quality performances and great films he's been in even factoring that in.

Dude can sing though. Edge of the Earth is a ****ing earworm.

His music ain't really my cup of tea, but I quite like 'Kings and Queens'.

The dude has been acting way before he was in a band. I actually see it the opposite. He's an actor who dabbles as a front man in a band.

Yeah, he acted first, but then for a while he all but retired from acting and made his band his primary focus. It seemed like for the past decade or so he'd dialled back to just doing one film every couple of years or so.

I still can't quite get my head around that next year we'll see the return to film of both Batman and The Joker, albeit in different films.

I'm glad their in different movies.

Yeah, it's a really cool approach to reviving those characters in fresh ways. Letting Ben Affleck's Batman be established in a Superman film and Jared Leto's Joker be established in a Suicide Squad film means there'll be an interesting dynamic when the two eventually clash in a Batman film.

You are talking too much sense. :o :oldrazz:

It will be difficult to withstand the sudden onslaught of 4 DC movies within two years (2016-2017), I mean ... we are used to watching 2-3 Marvel movies per year but DC have been known for taking a break of 2-3 years between each movie.

BvS (2016)
Sucide Squad (2016)

Wonder Woman (2017)
Justice League Part 1 (2017)

I tend to go see several films a month anyway, so I don't really feel like 4 DC movies should be an onslaught. Either they'll be good and it won't be a chore to have more movies I'm looking forward to on the calendar, or they'll suck and I'll happily give them a miss.

Jared Leto has been in a film nearly every year since 1995. When did he ever retire from acting? Wasn't he just in Dallas Buyers Club?

Maybe I'm overstating it, but while he was in a bunch of stuff in the late 90s/early 00s, it feels like his appearances in films has been dialled right back since maybe Panic Room in 2002. Before Dallas Buyers' Club, the only other film in recent years I can think of him being in was Chapter 27.

Using Batman and The Joker's popularity to help build hype and buzz for a DCCU is super smart on WB/DCE's part. Even if there are fans that disliked MOS or have no interest in BVS or SS a big chunk of them will still go out to see these new versions of the characters and be exposed to a wider array of DC properties. Some will inevitably get hooked for the long haul.

Let's just hope it doesn't continue the perception that they can only get the Batman property right.

He did Mr. Nobody but there was a 4 year gap between that film and Dallas Buyers Club. Before that, Leto had at least one acting role almost every year since 1995, with the only exceptions being in 2003 and 2008.

When answering a fan, David Ayer said in his twitter that Jared Leto's Joker is majestic.

It's getting quite close and I'm guessing he's not had a proper make-up test yet, due to the beard. Must happen soon.

How long before TDK did we get that first close-up of Heath in Joker mode?
