You didn't know that? Your memo must have been lost in the mail. :o

The moment someone talks about what fictional character they totally wouldn't get intimidated by is the moment I stop reading. Something about feeling the need to proclaim your toughness with respect to someone that doesn't actually exist...on the Internet...iunno...just can't take you seriously.

I think some of you are oversimplifying tattoo culture a bit. It's not exclusive to people wanting to appear "tough."

Correct, and it can have the opposite affect for some people.

This goes the same for those who claim they'll skip the movie just because joker isnt "thier joker". Even though the movie filled with plenty of other characters/actors to enjoy.

The movie has become the Joker show, with guest star Harley Quinn. I'm stoked about seeing Big Willie playing a villain for once personally.

Was he not a villain to uncle Phil?

Everyone overlooked the subtext. The fresh prince = Prince of Darkness.

He would terrorize the family, but they wouldnt reject him because he was family. The way he would try to corrupt Carlton week in and week in showed his true nature. He wanted Carlton to be evil. He wasnt trying to psychologically destroy Uncle Phil all the time.

That was Smith's first bad guy role. :sly:

Excellent piece!

I know this is petty and pointless but it annoys so much when people stand like this. You know with all their weight on one leg and their other leg just forward and dangling there? You're the god damned Batman! Stand confidently with both your feet planted ffs! Nothing about his body language communicates strength or confidence here. He does this on the very last shot of the trailer where he and superman face off on the Batmobile too and it's vaguely annoying to me.

Tom Hardy is a master of body language and one of the reasons Bane came off so powerful.

Jokers tattoos make him less intimidating and Batman's body language doesn't communicate strength.

How am I,a tough guy, supposed to enjoy these movies?

I don't think he will be played as a "villain" as much maybe some of the other guys. A very sympathetic villain perhaps. We even see him hugging his daughter or something in the trailer, and he will most likely have a bit of a romance with Harley Quinn. I wonder if he will try to "save" her :o

We'll see if Big Willie goes full dark :hehe:

...?

What the hell you're on about?

...... well, this isn't going to end well.

*runs away at top speed*

really liking both empire covers
jared looks unhinged as mistah j

liking that coat he has, this joker seems to be really vain about his appearance given the costumes we've seen so far

The look is growing on me, but I definitely as a man would not be intimidated by him.

Sort of like, say, a clown? Not inherently intimidating either.

Some of the reasons people are coming up with for not liking this...yeesh.

What's appealing to me about this Joker is how unsettling he looks; you'd definitely feel uncomfortable being around him just from his appearance alone. Add that to whatever general persona he projects and he'll be downright terrifying.

Shame that you're planning to deprive yourself of seeing a potentially great movie on the big screen alongside thousands (if not millions) of like-minded fans upon release out of selfishness/stubbornness because one visual aspect of the film doesn't line-up with what you wanted or expected to see. I'm sure you'll still be reading this forum heavily around the time of the film's release and absorbing every possible spoiler about the film so you can make your mind up about more things you don't like about the film before ever actually seeing it or having a normal viewing experience of this film.

:joker:

What's wrong with not wanting to see the movie since he doesn't like something he seen. Promotional materials are meant to promote the movie, if you see something you don't like in the promotion, why see the movie? I don't plan on seeing the movie, I've seen nothing that really "clicks" for me. I visit these forums on occasion to hopefully see something that will change my mind, however, nothing does, this Joker look is awful in my mind and they check promoting it and with every new shot it looks worse.

Well, TheShape's point was that one character doesn't make the entire film. There are other things there, which he might like if he were to give the film a chance instead of letting one character among dozens of them already ruin it to him.

Yeah, but that one character affects another character, Harley Quinn, whose look I don't care for either, I would've much preferred more of an Arkham City type look, instead of this raver chick look. Also from what we've seen so far these are two of the most important characters in the movie who will probably get a lot of the screen time. Unless David Ayer is incredible with large casts like a Joss Whedon or the Russo Brothers who made sure the large cast felt well balanced. However, I'm thinking with the large cast it'll be more like Bryan Singer's first two X-Men where very few characters, like Harley, Joker and Deadshot are the focus and everyone else will be a side character. If you aren't feeling 1 (or 2) out of those 3, it's not really going to get you excited.
