Jared Leto IS The Joker - - Part 11

Yeah, but that one character affects another character, Harley Quinn, whose look I don't care for either, I would've much preferred more of an Arkham City type look, instead of this raver chick look. Also from what we've seen so far these are two of the most important characters in the movie who will probably get a lot of the screen time. Unless David Ayer is incredible with large casts like a Joss Whedon or the Russo Brothers who made sure the large cast felt well balanced. However, I'm thinking with the large cast it'll be more like Bryan Singer's first two X-Men where very few characters, like Harley, Joker and Deadshot are the focus and everyone else will be a side character. If you aren't feeling 1 (or 2) out of those 3, it's not really going to get you excited.

The film is called "Suicide Squad" and Joker is not in the squad. So focus being on more than two or three characters is a given, since that this is pretty much an ensemble film.

And we were talking about the look only... what about the performance? Are you willing to take away from the performance just because you don't like the aesthetic?

Well, TheShape's point was that one character doesn't make the entire film. There are other things there, which he might like if he were to give the film a chance instead of letting one character among dozens of them already ruin it to him.

Yes.

And beyond that, there's the fact that while he might be turned off by the look of the character after seeing the handful of images and 3 seconds of footage we've seen of him thus far, they might actually like the presentation of the character upon seeing it in context when all of the elements come together (appearance, writing, direction, story, acting) in the film itself. Or, at the very least, it might not be so "awful" to him that it hinders his enjoyment of the film as a whole. It's called being open-minded, or at least, not being close-minded.

If you don't like ANYTHING you've seen thus far, weren't impressed/intrigued by the early teaser trailer, aren't a fan of the actors that have been cast, or simply aren't really interested in the concept of the film, that's a different story. The whole thing just doesn't seem to be your cup of tea, then, so I'd understand not being interested in seeing the film or following it on a forum like this one for the next year.

But if there are one or two visual elements that aren't appealing to you at this point because they don't meet your standards and you boldly state that you've made the decision to not see the film nearly a full year in advance without at least waiting to see more footage, read even one review, or give the actual film a chance -- a film that might feature fictional characters you like and/or care about -- that's truly a snap judgement and a little absurd to me.

I mean, I was not at all crazy about the appearance of Willem Dafoe's Power Ranger Green Goblin (like many others) as seen in some promotional materials prior to the release of the first Spider-man movie. It's not how I ever pictured the Green Goblin or how I ever wanted him to be visually translated on-screen for the first time. [Side-note: We still haven't seen a visually-faithful Green Goblin on screen.] But I can't imagine making the snap judgement or decision to deprive myself of seeing the film and giving it a chance simply because he didn't look like the Green Goblin to me. There are countless example of people not liking certain things they saw prior to the releases of some big movies, but it's pretty rare to see people definitively state that they wouldn't see those films for that reason -- especially so early on.

Maybe I'm off here, but that's just my two cents. Different strokes for different folks. If he's actually able to hold out on seeing this film in theaters, more power to him.

I've said it once I'll say it again. I'm positive Leto will be great. But all the tattoos just makes it look like they were trying to hard. All he needs is a lit up sign with an arrow pointing at him, at all times saying; "I'm the joker". It's a seriously bad character design choice. I don't care if he has tattoos, but all the smiley faces and damaged and all that just looks stupid to look at. I'll still go see the movie, but not because of the joker.

Indeed, because having a clown motiff, using lethal joy buzzers, an acid spitting lapel flower, razor sharp playing cards, a side kick named Harley Quinn and having a trademark hystercally insane laugh was the height of subtlety.

That's fine, as long as you boost the box office

Is there a textless HD version of that Joker pic with the shock things?

Nope. Not until the magazine comes out. I could possibly post a textless version tomorrow around this time.

Does the magazine come out tomorrow? If not, when? I needa buy one.

Yes.

I agree.

And I find these knee-jerk reactions and stubbornness to try and go past them a bit infantile, to be honest.

That's the hype for you. :ikyn

:hehe: it's interesting... just when I think I got used to strange comments, there's one to catch me off guard.

he's leaning on something with his leg. it's not like he's standing like an annoying girl thinkin she's got attitude.

He's just not communicating that supreme confidence that Batman should have. This is supposed to be the quintessential Batman as the WB execs have said. Not getting that vibe but I hope I'm wrong. For all the Fleck Leto is getting, he's the one I have the most confidence in to portray the character to a T.

This.

"Trying too hard" is what The Joker does.

I know this is petty and pointless but it annoys so much when people stand like this. You know with all their weight on one leg and their other leg just forward and dangling there? You're the god damned Batman! Stand confidently with both your feet planted ffs! Nothing about his body language communicates strength or confidence here. He does this on the very last shot of the trailer where he and superman face off on the Batmobile too and it's vaguely annoying to me.

Tom Hardy is a master of body language and one of the reasons Bane came off so powerful.

Can you imagine if every fanboy who initially hated the look and/or casting of Ledger's Joker actually boycotted TDK? They would've missed out on a great movie and a stellar performance over a literal superficiality.

Or more recently with DoFP and Quicksilver. Everyone hated his look, then they saw the movie. Now, he's everyone's highlight of the film.

The fanboy cycle has become very predictable. In a year, most if not all of the haters will be on board.

I mean seriously? Watch the trailer again and tell me it doesn't look great.

I like the trailer and look. The only thing i didn't like was that his scene seemed a rip off of the shining. I ain't gonna hurt ya, i'm just gonna bash your ------- brains in.

Although it might well be an ode to jack.

I ain't afraid of no clown! If I was to meet this jokar guy, I would tell him "come at me bro, you think I be afraid of yer tatoos and all, but I are a tough guy, so I ain't no afraid of ya". And then I would do the batusi.
