That all of his tats weren't obvious cliched callbacks to The Joker. I would also make them look amateurish, as if The Joker did it himself. So if they had to have the "damaged" on the forehead, I would have it be a little sloppy in his lettering, and also have it be written backwards, as it would be something he did in the mirror. So fun little exercise here:
If you were designing the Joker, and tattoos were a mandate, what tattoos would you give him?

All of these professional looking Joker themed tats just seem so odd, to me. I can understand the jewelry, cars and outfits, but the tats still seem like such an odd choice, especially with the kind of tats he has.

I can't see him covering himself in tattoos at all, but if he did, I can really only see him doing it himself.eh, That wouldn't work on this joker imo.
He's obviously very vain and he likes for his stuff to be flashy and clean.
Can't imagine him covering himself in poorly done/ sloppy tattoos.
Did you hate Ledger's design, in how he had a cut smile, covered himself in sloppy makeup, with long unkempt hair and a dirty suit?

I still don't like some things here and there, but overall, this is my favorite look for live action. I think it's his eyes, along with the hair and the permawhite. The skin color is just right. It's not too over the top white that looks like makeup that is caked on like all the other versions we've seen, it actually looks like his skin color.
And again, those eyes. Stuff of (k)nightmares.

I do prefer the design for this Joker to Ledger's, which is to say nothing of script and performance.
lolwut?
I have faith in Ayer. But man i wish he contacted Nolan on how to write/direct the Joker for this film.

Joker has always been about dark irony. The whole shtick is him being his wacky ironic self to me. Like, a thugged out guy with tats all over his body, I could see comic Joker doing that for a laugh.
With the introduction of this image, it's definitely a worthy contender
